Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (05.31.08)
Keep the Golan for the security of the Galilee region and northern Israel. If we give away the Golan. about a million Syrian residents will be settled in the Golan immediately.... A presidential decree has already been issued by Bashar Assad announcing that any Syrian resident who moves to the Golan will receive a government allowance... This will enable Assad to realize his dream with no interruptions: establishing a 'resistance' against Israel in the Golan Heights. Officially, Assad will argue that he has no connection to the terror attacks that would be directed at the Galilee region and northern Israel from the Golan; yet in practice, Syrian intelligence officers will do as they please vis-a-vis northern Israel, as they already did in northern Lebanon. Nowadays, the north of Israel is secure because the Golan is ours as explained at : http://xrl.us/bk9g2

My appreciation for your historical data, but unfortunately they are not complete. Allow me to present the facts as they are: indeed, as you wrote, "most of the Golan Heights were included within Mandatory Palestine, when the Mandate was granted in 1922". This happened by the unanimous vote of the 51 members of the LEAGUE OF NATIONS. Most important article 5 of the resolutions voted the 24th of July 1922 declares the following: " The Mandatory shall be responsible for seeing that no Palestine territory shall be ceded or leased to, or in any way placed under the control of, the Government of any foreign Power". Newertheless, Britain, in a treacherous and arbitrary fashion, breached article 5, by ceding in 1923 the Golan Heights to France, the Mandatory of Syria in the sole interest to secure Mosul and its oil fields to Irak. Begin's decision to impose Israel's Laws on the Golan Heights the 14th of December 1981, RIGHTED the WRONG done by the British in March 1923. Due to ART.80 of the UN Charter, the "Mandate for Palestine" is valid to this day! The Mandate granted the Jews the irrevocable right to settle anywhere in Palestine, the territory between the Mediterranean Sea and the River Jordan, a right unaltered in International Law and valid till today. Jewish settlements in the West Bank, Gaza strip, the whole of Jerusalem and the Golan Heights are Legal. So, Syria cannot make a standing claim in an International Court of Law as the Golan Heights as they are know today were never part of Syrian Real Estate, but part of the Palestine Mandate. It is a SHAME that Mr. Elyakim Haetzni does not use the above facts in his article. The ONLY facts that can convince world opinion about Israel's rights. But Israeli leaders prefer to transform a good case into a bad trial!
33. Golan Ottoman
Javier ,   Valencia,Spain   (05.31.08)
Historically, the whole area including Israel, belonged to the Ottoman Empire for 800 years. But, you see for practical purposes, if you BOTH ease tensions and after a time return the Golan to Syria, there will be peace with Syria. Sooner or later, take your time. I'm wth Israel for safety now but in long term will have to be like with Egypt. The future is peace with the neighbours

YITZAK BEN SHLOMO ,   SINGAPORE   (05.31.08)
thank you I will cite the 14 Dec 1981 Laws as it stands to date ....and the Art 80 I keep forgetting but I affirm in this next time, should the need arise. the 1923 Golan to France is illegal at law and not enforceable because it is non- conforming to concensus at large. I am sure Elyakim Haetzni know giving away land is criminal offense. I am sure he will note that in future :-) FO :-) this is a short article limited by space and time. Nevertheless you are a learned and precise on the point of law and facts, Thanks :-)-

(06.01.08)
He didn't speak Arabic nor did he belong to any Arab tribes. Middle Eastern doesn't equate to Arab. I realize Arabs would like to rewrite history so they seem accomplished but don't do it here. We know better.

39. Ha'ezni is so wrong
English guy ,   London   (06.02.08)
Like a good little fascist thief, he writes lines in defence of Israel's permanent theft of the Golan. "it is presented for sale as if it were meat in the market". And if it had been meat in that market, the Israeli army just walked by and shoplifted it, made some pathetic pretence of changing the deeds of ownership....
