Not even the PA wants Gaza. That baby belongs to Ehud Olmert, since he delivered it into existence.
2. Unexpected and surprising!

3. Time To Wake Up & Reassert Total Control
Adina Kutnicki   (06.07.08)
What a plan - not! To send in Jewish ! soldiers in order to give over the territory to the PA Fatah terror group is beyond obscene. I am ALL for conquering the strip, with the elimination of ALL the terror heads. Once that is done the leadership has to exert COMPLETE control over Gaza residents. IF they desire to live they will need to behave as civilized people. Otherwise they must be treated no better than the Nazis in Germany and their fate will be sealed. There is NO middle ground here and NO easy way out. The army is there to protect Jews. It cannot do so by sitting on the sidelines. They should know by now what running away from Lebanon & Gush Katif created - monsters on their borders.
4. and is that shocking to anyone?
oded   (06.07.08)
of course abbas is against anything that israel would do to protect itself.... even killing a few arabs in the process ,mind you.... abbas knows that israel is weak, and that time is on his side..... hamas will dissolve one way or another but, abbas wants it around to continue to terrorize israel.... we have seen this movie before.
5. enemy's enemy is my . . . . you know the rest, kids
d'ya smell it?   (06.07.08)
6. Who wants to fight for Israel under Olmert's command?
Scott   (06.07.08)
Any takers? I wouldn't want my child's destiny in his hands. He is a DECLARED SELL OUT. He wont make things any better and doesn't know how to conduct a war or extract appropriate results from enormous sacrifice. Good kids will die for nothing. We all know it . He's a loser. They say there is no alternative to Olmert - who will we get instead of him? Yes, definitely challenging. But even Mickey Mouse would do a better job. This proposed Gaza incursion most certainly is required but I get the feeling we'll all be left shaking our heads....again.
7. Wow.Nothing like tipping off your enemies. Now they will be

8. Report: Abbas informed of Israel's plan to retake Gaza
walid moallem ,   USA   (06.07.08)
If anyone believes this article, then olmert is totally innocent of any corruption what so ever.
9. Abbas
Natan   (06.07.08)
Great, he is against Gaza operation. It is obvious that Olmert must consult him first and receive his "blessing" How low can we go????
10. WHY WOULD ISRAEL "TIP OFF" ABBAS?
Arik Silverman ,   Milwaukee USA   (06.07.08)
Israel is not so stupid as to reveal a plan. It seems more likely Israel wanted to leak information or to manipulate Abu Quisling Abbas. In this case, Israel has succeeded in getting Abu Quisling to talk to Hamas, thus putting himself on bad terms with Washington. In this way Israel has a perfect excuse for not negotiating seriously with Abu Quisling.
11. I agree with both Adina and Arik
Hilda ,   US   (06.07.08)
Israel should flatten Gaza not fight for Abbas. He won't help Israel though he would be the winner because he and Hamas as one. The schizim is all a sham for world consumption. And dear old Condi and her boss Georgie are only committed to a Palestinian state no matter what the consequences are for Israel.
12. Then Abbas is OK with Israel’s daily massacres in Gaza
Abos ,   USA   (06.07.08)
Israel will think 1 million times before invading any area where there is no regular Arab regime or Arab regular armies, which is Israel is used to defeat in a couple of hours.
13. Reluctant !!
Ali ,   Gaza   (06.07.08)
All the time, since 7 years ago Israel is willing to invade Gaza and all the time they are wiiling to find reasons not to do it !! .. I am sure this will never happen,God will protect Gaza !!.
14. #13 Really, did allah protect all those Iraqis in the"Mother
of all Battles'? ,   NOT!!!!!!!   (06.07.08)
15. Gazza is Egypyain Territory...Not Palastinian!
Jay3 ,   Israel   (06.07.08)
That is the facts everyone ignores! Officially cede it back to Egypt and let them worry about these scumbags! Thats where they all came from in the first place. THERE IS NO PALASTINE!
16. Gaza Strip
Jerry Johnstone ,   Houston, USA   (06.08.08)
Re-taking of the Gaza Strip is good, except for the gradual of returning power to Abbas. He can't hang on to and Israel will be back to square one. I would be waching my back also. It could been seen as a way to divide your forces. Syria and Hizbollah could use this for a two prong attack from the north ....and I could see Iran getting stupid before it is all over. God Bless, J Johnstone
17. The myth of the nonexistence of Palestinians.
jack ,   us   (06.08.08)
Golda Mier refused to acknowledge the existence of Palestinians, and to this day, some ignorant supporters of Israel repeat this myth. Palestinians actually are a unique subpopulation of semites most closely related to Jews, Kurds, Turks, Armenians, and not to Arabs, except some of the local bedouin. A wopping fifty percent of Palestinian muslim males have y-chromosomes genetically identical to seventy percent of the Jewish Diaspora males' y-chromosomes. An additional thirty percent of Palestinian Muslim Males Y-chromosomes are related to that of Kurds, Turks, and Armenians. Only the remaining twenty percent are of Arab or European origin. Clearly, that makes them a unique and separate people. For more information google : "y-chromosome jew palestinian". The results are very interesting. Apparently, the Palestinaians, and the Jews, are indigenous. They are also descendants of a single population of people who separated about 2000 years ago. Apparently, the Palestinians are the descendants of the Israelite remnant not dispersed by the Romans. (Clearly, they are a seperate population, ethnic group, and nation.) The early Zionists understood this. Peace is the fruit of Justice.
18.  beilin hopes kadima primaries
Jim ,   Jerusalem Israel   (06.08.08)
'won't cost us another war' I am sure the majority of the Israeli population HOPES any draft agreement with the PA "won't cost us another oslo' (dr beilin). Did I make my point?
19. Abbas support for Hamas is not new.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (06.08.08)
In Feb 2007 Abbas announced, “We must unite the Hamas and Fatah blood in the struggle against Israel as we did at the beginning of the intifada”. He stated this en route to Mecca to meet with the Saudi King, and Hamas terror chiefs Khaled Mashaal and Ismail Haniyeh. The Saudis pledged humdreds of millions of dollars in “humanitarian aid” – which, like previous pledges, they failed to deliver. Yet, as declared by National Intelligence Director J.M. Mc Connell, before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, the Saudis and the Gulf states funneled hundreds of millions of petrodollars to reward Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Hamas and Palestinian Jihad suicide bombers and fuel the anti-Israel Jihad. Indeed, Saudi Arabia remains a source of recruits and Finances for … Levant-based militants as described at : http://xrl.us/bi7j5
20. gaza
ralph chevillard ,   edmonton canada   (06.08.08)
would the huge gasfield off the Gaza coast have anything to do with the taking of gaza by the zionists?
21. Why should Abas be concern about getting back Gaza?
Asher ,   NY, USA   (06.08.08)
Because the original plan and secret plan he has is to hand West Bank to Hamas as well. His goal is not rulling over Gaza but as he turned Gaza to Hamas( Iran), his misssion is is not complete unless he hands West Bank to them. Thats why he doesn't like the idea of Israel defeat Hamas and give him back Gaza. Abas is playing his role very clever however he looks so dum.
22. We are being out-manoeuvered ...
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (06.08.08)
Not only is this gov't. corrupt & power-hungry, it is also inept. While occupied with their own political squabbles & attempts at political survival, the Palestinians & their allies are out-manoeuvering us. The level of ineptitude is staggering. Olmert/Livni/Barak are trapped in a political disaster of their own making - their embrace of the futile "peace process" has led them to make one mistake after the other, has paralysed the gov't., & is allowing the Arabs to out-manoeuver us on every front. The narrow concentration on political survival is at the cost of the national interest & our security.
23. # 17 Golda was Right
Thomas   (06.08.08)
Is it her fault that in the majority of her lifetime, there never was an Arab ethnic group called the "Palestinians"? No book mentioning their history, language, folklore, etc has ever existed prior to 1967. It's like former terrorist Walid Shoebat said about waking up at the beginning of June 1967 as a Jordanian and waking up at the end of June as a Palestinian. Golda was an early Zionist and she wasn't alone in having that belief. The "Palestinians" being a unique subgroup was invented after the Six Day War. By the way, you can probably get the same genetic results by studying people in Lebanon and Syria as well.
24. Israel like Germany saves Abbas Mussilini RIGHT ???
M. S. ,   mpls america   (06.09.08)
I realize it does not take a genius to compare a IDF invasion of Gaza and so to restore Abbas to power to compare with savbng Mussilini in W W II and or even Japan as like the puppet state of Manchuko Mancheria but then who knows what Israel may do with such leaders as Olmert Livni Barak whatever all have high level capability but no long range regular permanent plans same with the Golen Heights and so Iran RIGHT ??? thank you... M. S.
