4. Alternatives
There are leaders out there that have the courage to do what is necessary, but they need more popular support from the people.
To name a few:
Effie Eitam
Moshe (Boogie) Ya'alon
Moshe Feiglin
Now, if the people would cast their votes wisely, we might just see a strong Israel once again.

6. What is going on?
The number one job of government is to protect the safety of its residents. If the government either won't or can't accomplish this, there needs to be a new government and nowhere is this more true than in Israel. Sderot and other Negev communities are suffering terribly from Israel's decision to evacuate the Gaza Strip and let the terrorists gain power. Considering that Ben Gurion saw the Negev as Israel's future, abandonment of this vital area means that Israel will never fulfill its destiny. More importantly, I wouldn't blame Negev residents if they became Yordim.
If the pause is to strengthen military plans while giving a truce one more chance, then the govt. is correct in holding off on military action. I fear that this is not the reason and that this govt. just doesn't have the courage to make difficult decisions and is paralyzed.

8. These politicians think they can get away with it
because Israelis have allowed them to.
Israelis should have been out in the streets, long ago, rioting and rampaging and bringing the country to a standstill, until Olmert and the rest of these LOSERS, would have had to leave, and make way for new elections.

9. Bush / Rice call the shots in the south
The government is afraid. Olmert is afraid of Geoge W. Bush. Bush tells Olmert when to act and when to cease acting. George W. Bush is in charge; not Euhud Olmert.

10. And say unto them: Thus saith the L-rd GOD: Behold,
I will take the children of Israel
from among the nations,
whither they are gone, and will gather them on every side,
AND BRING THEM INTO THEIR OWN LAND;
and I will make them one nation
in the land, upon
the mountains of Israel,
and one king shall be king
to them all; and they
shall be no more two nations,
neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all;
neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor
with their detestable things, nor
with any of their transgressions;
but I will save them out of all their dwelling-places,
wherein they have sinned,
and will cleanse them; so shall they be My people, and I will be their G-d.
And My servant David shall be
king over them, and they
all shall have one shepherd;
they shall also walk in Mine ordinances, and observe
My statutes, and do them.
And they shall dwell in the land
that I have given unto Jacob My servant, wherein your fathers dwelt;
and they shall dwell therein, they, and their children, and their children's children, for ever;
and David My servant shall be their prince for ever.
Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them--it shall be an everlasting covenant with them;
AND I WILL ESTABLISH THEM AND MULTIPLY THEM,
AND I WILL SET MY SANCTUARY IN THE MIDST OF THEM FOR EVER,
My dwelling-place also shall be
over them; and I will be their
G-d, and they shall be My people.
AND THE NATIONS SHALL KNOW THAT I AM HASHEM
THAT SANCTIFY ISRAEL,
WHEN MY SANCTUARY SHALL BE IN THE MIDST OF THEM FOREVER.'

12. Scared
You have it all wrong, Olmert and his bunch are not scared they are peace nicks of the far left. All they care about is making peace at all cost and don't care what they give away in the process. Right now Hummas has won and all over the internet Israel is being looked at a scared rabbit. I myself who served in the IDF in the 1970 as a sniper, am ashamed to even talk about the good old days, when we did'nt allow anybody to hit us without hitting them back ten fold. Time has come to bring up the cabinet on charges of aiding the enmy in time of war. If we don't do some thing now we are finished and the world will say good by Israel. I say to my Generals who are left from the seventies stand up and be counted. Enough is enough, how many more Israeli are going to be killed and hurt because of Olmert and his bunch. Never Again Ha, Ha, with Olmert how can we say that. GOD BLESS

16. Olmert wait for a major Catastrophy then
When the Hamas will kill many more Israelis all in one shot. Then... maybe the Dear Olmert and associates will realise that their is a move to be made.
Just a little catastrophy is nothing to him. After all he is miles away from the Negev in his fortify Utopian dungeon.
It is time for 100.000 Israelis to move to the street a demand a change of leadership...NOW
If we can call this Olmert a leader...
A Big question mark.

18. #10 And Your Proof Is
Anyone who believes the land does belong to the Jews then PROVE it. And do not give me the pathetic tale of the Torah. The Torah is nothing but a plagiarized retelling of the Epic of Gilgamesh. I want PROOF that the land belongs to the Jews. So far I have seen NOTHING.

19. The solution to terror.
Victory is the key word not peace, because peace is not an option in this part of the world, and because there is only one solution to terror : a military solution. You do not talk to terrorists, you fight and defeat them. Victory is needed to prove to the Muslims in general and the Arabs in particular that against their ethos of death stands the ethos of life, protected by the arms of democracies that are resolved to punish them where it hurts most

20. Politicians "Scared," But Not Scared of The People
Israeli politicians know from experience that the people they govern are too lazy, apathetic and disorganized to force them to change. When Israelis living inside Israel who have been left exposed to terrorist attacks for years can barely bring themselves to hold up signs behind a police barrier, what in the world does Olmert, Barak or Livni have to fear?

21. There were Giants in those days
In days gone by Politicians were Giants who knew right from wrong and recognized evil.
Those giants took action to when it was necessary and in secret to preserve Jewish life both IDF and civilian.
Today an unelected impotent and timid PM Olmert afraid of what the Europeans will say hold open meetings telegraphing intentions and battle plans to the Palestinians placing our IDF in grave danger. What does Olmert care, it isn't his life in jeopardy.
He is ready to toss Jewish life away like tissue paper whic explains why he does nothing as Sdrot is under rocket attack.
There were Giants in those days and cockroaches today.

26. Many Western Countries ....
have the SAME problem. Instead of leaders standing tough, they cave in.
I never could understand why so many Western Governments stood around & did nothing to oppose the (WWI) treaty violations evident in Hitler's Germany. The Western governments were quite willing to bend over backwards to appease Hitler. I see the same hesitation to act as we watch a build up to a nuclear WWIII.
Many governments seem to be run by deer caught in the headlights.

28. Re #18 Sally of OZ
You are confused....
The torah is the first 5 books of the Jewish Tanach ...then there is the writings ...then comes the prophets....this quote comes from Ezekiel 37 :21 thru 28 & Isaiah 40:8
both books of the prophets.....
they have no relationship to the Epic of Gilgamesh.....
You might try to look up Psalms 83...
Psalms is one of the books of the writings writtin at the time of king david ...Yet it speaks very clearly to the current mid-east crisis ....right down to the statements and countries arrayed against israel...
it may not be proof but it certianly is worth concidering....
by the way virtualy all of the Jewish tanach was found amongst the dead sea scrolls with the exception of the book of esther.....and word for word were identical....any errors were either stylistic or an occasional mispelling....
the scrolls date to a hundred or more years before christ.....

30. # 18 THE JEWISH CLAIM TO THE LAND OF ISRAEL
The Jewish people have maintained ties to their historic homeland
for more than 3,700 years.
A national language and a distinct civilization have been maintained.
The Jewish people base their claim to the land of Israel
on at least four premises:
1) God promised the land to the patriarch Abraham.
2) The Jewish people settled and developed the land.
3) The international community granted political sovereignty in Palestine to the Jewish people.
4) The territory was captured in defensive wars.
Israel's international "birth certificate" was validated
by the promise of the Bible,
uninterrupted Jewish settlement from the time of Joshua onward,
the Balfour Declaration of 1917,
the League of Nations Mandate, which incorporated the Balfour Declaration,
the United Nations partition resolution of 1947,
Israel's admission to the UN
in 1949, the recognition
of Israel by most other states,
and, most of all, the society created by Israel's people in decades of thriving, dynamic national existence.
