4. And they blame Israel!
Leah ,   USA   (06.12.08)
And Hamas says Israel doesn't want peace! If they would stop lobbing their rockets and bombs into Israel, the IDF would have no reason to launch self-defensive operations into Gaza. It's not the Israeli's who don't want peace! It's the Arabs who want to push Israel into the sea! It's in Hamas/Fatah's charters!
5. What they waiting for??? A missile to hit Tel Aviv??
Dave ,   uk   (06.12.08)
6. Where's DM Barak ....
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (06.12.08)
And his usual prepared, "Gaza op closer" speech? Busy conspiring with Olmert to prevent elections - I guess he's too busy to even make the speech. I suppose he could hand out free recordings of his 50 other speeches saying the same thing. For his election campaign, he should use the slogan, "Barak, the man of action" so we could all have a good laugh.
7. Israel should uproot Hamas once and for all.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (06.12.08)
Under the circumstances, what is needed is not negotiations with Hamas, but strong military action against it. Israel should not undertake a brief incursion, but a major invasion of Gaza to uproot Hamas once and for all. If the Israeli leadership doesn’t take such action, it risks Hamas growing into an even greater menace to the State of Israel than it is today as described at : http://xrl.us/bmdnh
8. Hamas already pay a heavy price - they have ZERO credibility
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (06.12.08)
... and all the Palestinians KNOW it was a terror "accident" and that the three Terrorists were preparing Qassam fuel. Like in the past, when qassams exploded during a terrorist extravaganza rally killing and maiming participants, now too, they endagered non-combattant civilians. Regardless of what they say or do, people know that Hamas lie through their teeth, their days are numbered and will be cut abruptly by Israel and their own Gaza population. Hamas is corrupt, tyrannical and full of lies and pompous and unattainable promises. They will crumble under the weight of their own lies and brutality.

10. Rocket barrages to Gaza
Friend of Israel ,   Portugal   (06.12.08)
Rain barrage to Gaza! NOW Mister Holmert sorry to ask but! Do you like your people from south of Isreal or not? Why you don't won't to take action?
11. It would be time to take the kid gloves off...
Adam ,   Raanana, Israel   (06.12.08)
If it was 2001!!! This country needs to start defending itself or else the people will lose faith and leave. I have no problem living here in potential mortal danger when Israel is defending her borders. BUT, I do have a problem living here when our people in the South are being bombarded and nothing is being done about it. It's time for a change, the people need to bring about a revolution if the government don't free the reigns of the IDF
12. #5 Dave, no, not just one.
israeli ,   israel   (06.12.08)
13. Whats 60 rockets for our goverment ?
Eric................ ,   Israel.........   (06.12.08)
Wow the IDF says it wasnt Israel that caused the explosion in gaza, wow it wasnt us (great). They shoot 60 rockets into Israel and we do nothing.Great goverment we have.
14. Here is the solution
Mahlon Drumgoole ,   Newark NJ   (06.12.08)
There must be a national movement to have the prime minister's office (and residence) moved to Sderot. The buildings should not be reinforced any more than the homes of most residents or the schools that the Sderot children attend. Obviously, the leadership has weighed the cost benefits of attempting to REALLY stop the rocket fire and the conclusion that the men, women and children of Sderot and other Negev communities are not worth the cost in IDF casualties and international criticism. I wonder if the Israeli "leaders" have figured the true cost of abandoning Israeli communities into their calculations? What will they do if Tel Aviv, Haifa, or Jerusalem becomes a target of relentless Kassam or longer range rockets? Abandon these cities too?
15. too weak to shoulder responsibility or to deny Gaza's blast
observer   (06.12.08)
what the world sees is Palestinian retaliation and Israeli weakness.
16. If they had an economy...
Nadim ,   Canada   (06.12.08)
You are correct. Settlers have taken things into their own hands and harass peaceful unarmed Palestinan farmers and children. Maybe Hamas would stop the attacks if a 8 month blockade of gas was lifted, if they could fish in their waters, if their waters weren't so heavily polluted since their untreated waste is going into the sea due to no gas available, if their olive groves weren't uprooted, what do you expect Israel to do? Slaughter civilans, then they would see the response of Hamas and other Arab countries
17. olmert's lull
Arie ,   BaGolan   (06.12.08)
18. God bless hamas
Jimmy Carter ,   Plains, GA   (06.12.08)
19. Two Alternatives
GZLives   (06.12.08)
The first is to do nothing. They are obviously desperate and they are clearly baiting Israel to invade. Invasion would take all pressure off Hamas to deliver something to the people they supposedly represent. They appear to be on the verge of collapse and they know an invasion would cause a "rallying" effect where the focus will be on fighting the Jews rather then fighting their real enemy - the Islamist. The other alternative is full scale invasion and decimation of Hamas and probably many many civilians. There will be many casualties and unless we use the IAF to its full capacity, we will also suffer many casualties as Hamas has dug in and also booby trapped much of the area a la Hezbollah. Many who now call for this alternative may come to a different conclusion once we suffer casualties and claims by their side of victory since we all know that to them, no matter how many of their civilians they will lose, as long as they kill even a few of us, will claim victory and proof that the IDF and Israel are paper tigers. Unless we do what Russia did to Grozny, we lose. The question is are Jews prepared to decimate thousands of Arabs - maybe tens of thousands and suffer the sort of demonization that we all know will come from those who are just waiting for more opportunity to paint us as Nazis ? I don't think so. I think the Jewish Left will be the first to condemn us and will then be lifted up and used as useful idiots by the entire Left and ultimately the Islamists. It will used as evidence why Jews can't live with Arabs. It will all be turned upside down. The rocket barrages, the attacks, the kidnappings ... none of it will even be mentioned. We need to continue this policy of taking the hits, and then responding and taking out a few Hamas while Hamas slowly crumbles and their population gets more and more frustrated with their leadership.
20. Zero credibility is right
(06.12.08)
As the final steps are being made for a cease fire the fools pull this? WTF? I can't believe that Egypt even wastes time talking to these nutballs. And Abbas goes down there and bends over for them? They just made Abbas and Egypt look like fools. Unfreakin'believeable!! I think Israel will be left with little option other than to ratchet up the mil ops.
21. Gaza
Edithann ,   USA   (06.12.08)
Why not start getting off their land? What makes you think you can steal their homes and lands and live in peace?
22. Mortar shells, Qassam rockets rain on Israel's south
Jim ,   Jerusalem Israel   (06.12.08)
At least 40 mortars and 25 Qassams landed in Israel, None land in Tel Aviv thats a good thing. As long as hamas refrain from hitting Tel Aviv, the government of Israel will hold good to it's promises to abas not to attack gaza. abas in return will keep his promises to olmert to do all in his power to stop the firing of missiles from gaza into Israel. This evening after dinner the 3 stooges will have a trio burp session
23. To the people of Israel.....
Poitcha ,   Israel   (06.12.08)
we should put all our MK's on trial for incompetency, negligence, lying and murder.
24. Real Estate....
Chance ,   Mesa, AZ   (06.12.08)
What makes either side feel like they have any "right" to the much sought after Real Estate in Israel? What "right" grants you the "right?" Just because you both have occupied the territory over the years doesn't justify killing one another for the next thousand years. In fact, I am sure that if either of you are truly a God-chosen people, God will come to you where ever you are when he finally makes himself known. There has been senseless killing that I am sure you both will be held accountable for. Perhaps in the end, you will not want God to find you after all. However, that having been said, I think strapping bombs to women and children, dupping them into believing they are martyrs is much the grosser crime.
25. Overthrow Your Government
Dan ,   USA   (06.12.08)
Olmert should be impeached and the existing government overthrown for not protecting its citizens. What good is an army, air force and weapons systems if it isn't used to defeat an aggressor. Israel ,under Olmert is bankrupt morally and militarily. A quick, overwhelming military victory is needed to stop the shelling
26. Stop complaining, Hamass is our friends!
Ehud Olmert ,   Israel   (06.12.08)
27. How much longer will this go on?
jason white ,   afula,israel   (06.12.08)
Why not bombard gaza for a few days. Let them suffer death and destruction. If that will not stop the terror, then we should exterminate everyone in the strip as an example to our enemies and our so called "friends".
28. Kool-Aid Capitol of the World ,Israel
Marcel ,   Florida   (06.12.08)
We have retreated from Gaza and now have a fomidable enemy attacking us from there at every opportunity and with more serious fire power than ever before. We are content and happy with the U.S led Road Map which has brought us so much peace. Defeating our peace neighbors is the last thing we would ever do as it might threaten the peace. We will oblige our peace maker George Bush not to endanger our peace partners fatahhamas with any idea of neutralizing Gaza. Victory and defeating our enemy is no longer in our thoughts or vocabulary because of this glorious, wonderful peace which we idolize and worship. We are happy to offer more painful concessions for said peace. signed, The majority of Israel
29. #16, Nadim, Canada doesn't know what it is talking about
Phil ,   US   (06.12.08)
Nadim, stop your lies. Hamas is firing rockets on Israel because it wants to destroy Israel. The blockade is a result of Hamas refusing to stop the rocket fire against Israel. If the rocket fire stopped, there would be a relaxation of the blockade. If Hamas agreed to a peace treaty and recognize Jewish Israel, the Palestinians in Gaza would get their gasoline. By the way, exactly what settlers are harrassing the Palestinians in Gaza? You idiot, there are no Israeli settlers in Gaza.
30. Edithann, #21 is a liar
Sigfried S. Kuhn ,   Aberdeen   (06.12.08)
Edithann, is there something the matter with your head or is it with your honesty and decency? Your reply entitled "Gaza" stated that Israel should get off their land. Well, in case you've been living on Mars or under a rock, Israel has evacuated Gaza. They gave the entire wretched land back to the Palestinians and the response from the Palestinians was to send rockets to kill Israeli civilians. This is the issue with people(?) like you. You lie so much that you start to believe your own lies.
