34. #27 and getting her information third hand
Go speak to dayannim, speak to those who train them, and learn what is involved before parroting your party line.
I happen to know enough dayanim and rabbanim from across a wide spectrum to know who is genuine and what makes a fake a fake. you obviously do not.
Stop trying to force fakes on the rest of us.

37. Bravo to R.Zionists
For once I can say Bravo to Religious zionists instead of arguing with them about their rigid stance on the disputes over segments of the West Bank.
In any case, I think this is a very common-sense responce. It's unacceptable that Haredim ask them for money, while rejecting them as partners in Judaism. In the past (e.g. past 2,000 years), Haredim also use to work like anyone else. It's a recent development that they "deserve" to not work and get money from others. Either the Haredim work with other religious Jews, or they should not expect support from them or the rest of the nation. I'm not promoting conflict, only responding to the barrage of attacks from Haredi society as a whole (I'm not trying to single out everyone as of course there are exceptions) on other religious and non-religious alike.
I'm surprised it's taken the RZ movement this long to catch on.

Actually, that's also something non Jewish. The e. european gentiles imposed this form of dress on the Jews, and they have clung to it, turning it into a relgious obligation. If they wish to dress in this expensive manner, and wearing a sweater is not good enough for them, why should peopel who wear sweaters subsidize the hand made clothing of these haredim? It has nothing to do with Torah!

40. Kol HaKavod to HaRav Gross
He is 100% correct, and it makes me wonder why his proposals have the chareidim in such a tizzy. RZ should have been channeling their hard earned money only into their own institutions long ago, and the chareidim long ago should have stopped taking money from those they hate long ago.

41. # 34 "Rabbi" ashamed of his name
Well may be I HAD to encounter a few dayianim in the course of my life, and may be I happen to hear first hand horror stories from friends in their adventures with Rabbanut, may be I do know of one or two brilliant candidates for dayianing who have been denied.....

42. 33# Miriam is getting touchy (again)
Sorry lady, you sistematically invalidate Relgious Zionists as orthodox altogether, not just from this tb.
You need to grow up and appreciate that we, religious zionists do appreciate one or two things about hareidim too, and don't invallidate them as non orthodox (as deviated from true judaism a few of their practices are).
Grow up make some tshuva, start loving fellow jews (specially those who pay taxes, serve the army and keep mitzvot), and find something else to live for than hating others

44. Want funding? then serve the state
Plain and simple you want $$$ then serve the country, Join the Army. do sheriout Lumi. don't just suckle the tet dry and give nothing in return!
Voting rights should be allowed to only those who serve. running rights the same, you want to be in the Govt. Serve 3 years. you want to tell non religous people how to live? then serve your 3 years and the following milueem etc. sponging off the blood of the regular guy isn't going to cut it anymore.........
Oh I am religious. so stop with the BS and SERVE the country or stop begging

46. Lack of intellectual honesty
Rabbi Hagai Gross has made statements fueling the divisions being created by the recent conversion controversy
rather than fanning the flames with self serving pronouncements - perhaps a critical response to the allegations by the Bet din against Rabbi Druckman - based on halacha not personal feelings and politics - would be more productive
But then again.. perhaps he is not looking for EMES as they say in the yeshivas.. but rather just trying to score points

47. #1 Not Quite Right
Before getting all high and mighty about how the Religious Zionist camp should feel about Reform and COnservative, let us remember a few points:
1. The Religious Zionists are part of the religious establishment and have always been so - the other movements cannot make the same claim.
2. The Religious Zionists have been part of the political process since the birth of Zionism - the other movements also cannot make that claim.
3. Polls consistently show that secular Israelis reject the Conservative and Reform as authentic Jewish movements so their lack of standing is not without basis in Israeli polity.

If the Herdi camp was so wonderful at running the batei Din then why is it that are systematically alienating such a large majority of the population.
It is very well known that the Rabbanute is full of corruption to the point where Jewish people pay a bribe in order to get permission to marry, in many cases the bureaucracy is astounding and in place to do nothing more than try the patients of citizens who have no other institution to turn to.
If corruption and bigotry is your definition of "intellectual honesty" then you can keep it.
From where I sit a Jew is a Jew and what makes them a good Jew is how they treat others, not how many times they've read the Torah. It's time for the Haredim to practice the lessons they read.

51. Disputes in the religious world
We have them in the "vishnits" community in Bne Brak . There it's more personnal , between brothers .
I remember such a dispute between two Orthodox communities in my birth town . One also Charidi , the other more National Religious .
Was it always so ?
But how can we agree with "people" such as this Miriam , the most hatefull woman ever seen . Everyone not agreeing with her extremist view not Jewish . But is she Israeli [ in her heart if she has one ] ? did she contribute somethiong to Israel ? or is her only contribution HATE ?

52. vote NRP
Until we, the modern orthodox public votes NRP nothing will happen. The ultra orthodox are able to take over because their people vote for them, which gives them a lot of power in the Knesset and the rabbinate. I am appauled by what this so called high rabbinic court has done to righteous converts, but I am also guilty. In the last election I voted my own interest. I voted for Shas because my kid was in their school and I wanted the school to have funding. And why was he in a Shas school? Because it was better than the national religious school that my older kids had gone to.
The NRP has not met the needs of their constituents for a long time. They have to get their act together if they want votes. Then they will be able to take back the rabbinate and promtoe the religious needs of all of us, whether it be conversions or fair divorces.
