3. Assad is learning how to play western politics
He wants the Golan he also know how desperate Israel & the US especialy are for him to end his alliance with Iran. The US will be getting a new president in 6 months so even if Assad doesnt get what he wants from Olmert he has started talking and if the new US president thinks Israel giving him the Golan is going to help break his alliance with Iran then they will be putting more preasure on Israel to give up the Golan than ever before especialy id Obama is the president. Assad can promise anything before he has the Golan but once he has it and he fills the place with hundreds of thousands of Syrian settlers then he can do what he wants. Egypt reguarly breaks the terms of the 1979 peace treaty so why shouldnt Assad who has no real desire to make peace with Israel all he wants is the Golan and he will do whatever it takes to get it but his loyalties will allways remain with the terrorists and Iran. Once he has the prize we cant take it back if he breaks his promises. The only way to save the Golan is for a referendum with no get out clauses. The current bill being proposed says that if 80 MKS agree then there is no need for a referendum. We must not allow the Israeli Golan to become occupied territory under a ruthless dictaitor.

"... the upcoming inspection of Syria's nuclear facilities..." Don't you mean "alleged" nuclear facilities? Why are the inspectors going there if we already know there are nuclear facilities?
