Iran hints will develop nuke if attacked    News agencies
1. I never saw that coming..I'm shocked
David ,   Philadelphia, PA   (06.25.08)
2. I dont think he gets the picture
If Iran is attacked it wont be able to develop a nuke because its facilities will be destroyed its going to take them another 10 - 20 years to put themselves into a position where they can even think about getting nukes plenty of time to think about how to stop Iran getting nukes in future if they want to develop them. Negotiations are a joke We talk, we make generous offers Iran laughs at them and tsays nothing will stop us so we start talking about sanctions. Iran then says we want to negotiate more so we negotiate make more generous offers Iran laughs, we talk sanctions Iran wants to talk more and we keep going round and round in circles while Iran continues to develop its neuclear program. Ahmadinijad is laughing at the west because he belives probably rightly that if he calls their bluff the west will probably say air strikes are not an option in reality and we are just going to have to let Iran dictate terms and accept it when Iran gets a nuke because we wasted years playing diplomatic games.

3. duh....
actually, whether atacked or not, iran will build nukes.

4. Peaceful nuclear bomb
Ahmadinejad says that, if attacked , he will use his" peaceful" nuclear bomb.

7. Build Your Nukes, you are already under nuclear threath
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (06.25.08)
8. He did not say that AT ALL , again Mistranslating when suits
I was listening to his speech on a french Channel and the translation from persian said something like iran will no longer cooperate with the IAEA and carry on its enrichment without any cooperation . . he never mentioned Nuclear weapons i wonder who is doing the translation again .
Gisele ,   Beirut   (06.25.08)
9. What A Joke
Are we that stupid to listen to the Baradei the dog, so that Iran would not turn the ME into a " great ball of fire"? Goodness gracious me! Look, Baradei, we know you are paid by Iran to issue this threat and we are not buying it.
NT Atilla ,   Tel Aviv   (06.25.08)
10. YOU CANT DEAL WITH IRAN LIKE THAT..........
Nothing to be shocked for.Under one pretext or the other vested interest have nothing on their mind but to setroy the Iranian nuclear facilities.Imagine a senior representative travelling with more that 400 documents supposedly to deliver them to Iran with, supposedly, once again, goodwill. He had hardly finished his job when the rhetorics started from different countries calling upon the chosen few to impose further sanctions on IranThis action clearly proved that these cosmetic gesture of goodwill and real time diplomacy was ill-intended.I would not be surprised that these USA sponsored sanctions and military action will simelteneously fail with further humiliation and Iran will emerge more stronger than even what it is now.
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (06.25.08)
11. To US: Stop Talking and Now Action
Bottom line: According to report by US generals, 1st 3 wks after an all out Israeli attack, 30m Iranians and 15m Syrians will be with 72 virgins males (and females) in Arab hell. Israel's losses, assuming an Iranian nuke attack, and Syrian Scuds, 1-1.5m.deaths and injuries. Soooo, my suggestion: Israel and the US, using B1s, 2s, Cruise, bunker busters, F15s and F16s, take out 2 to 30 Iranian nuke plants. Than, no nuke zones..like in Iraq..or US tactical nukes next time. That's all Ahmad, the mad and stupid Iranian.

12. #10 Are you related to Bagdad Bob?
Iran wants to continue to build their nuclear facilities. This is a fact. The threats against Israel have made it clear that Iran's intentions are not peaceful nor has Iran cooperated with inspectors or demonstrated any intention to negotiate a solution leaving the threat of attack as a real and present danger to Iran. This comes at a particularly bad time for Iran when its ecomony is failing and Ahmadinejad is trying desperately to salvage a country held together by rubberbands. This is the 3rd round of sanctions. Let's imagine how Iran will be doing during the 5th and 6th round of sanctions. Please read this Tehran Times article. http://www.tehrantimes.com/index_View.asp?code=171601

13. Now it is obvious whom Elbaradei is working for!!!!!!!!!
Asher ,   NY, USA   (06.25.08)
14. Where's the screw driver?
Iran's public policy announced by Rafsanjani when he was the president was and still is to be "a screw driver away" form building nuclear bombs. Iran is certainly there. Israel can test that fact at its own peril. Iran's current nuclear program is legal and transparent. NO country has come up with a shred of evidence to prove Iran is building nuclear weapons. Israel and the rest of Iran's enemies are barking off the wrong tree.

15. ALTHOUGH IT IS THEIR HABIT,GISELE.....#8
Gisele, the importance here is not what he said but the way these chosen few are dealing with Iran.I mean the carrot and stick policy they call it but I seem to be seeing only the stick.Even the religious call can be reveresed should the threats increase and Iran can justify that its existance is now at stake.Very likelihood of that happening if anyone becomes adventurous in the region.

Gee, Gisele, what makes you think that your translation is any more legitimate, filtered as it is through the Hizbullah sound studios?

asked too. All in ,   good will of course.   (06.25.08)
19. CYNTHIA,YOU KEEP ON ERRING......#12
Reffering to items which are not under discussion. You are obsessed with one belief...............and that is Iran's economy. How many countries have you covered in the region? The simple fact remains as follows.....you cant offer incentives to someone and at the same time show them a stick as if it is a child's play.Wait for Solana to announce how his mission was interfered with,Cynthia. You seem to be sinking with dreary thoughts.
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (06.25.08)
20. Is Ahmadinejad afraid ?
The economic situation of the Iranian population is dreadful. Ahmadinejad cannot afford the risk of an Israeli attack on the Iranian nuclear installations and/or other vital targets – he might face a popular revolution supported by a part of the Iranian army. That could be the beginning of the end of the fanatical Islamic regime. Would Ahmadinejad take such a risk ? More about Iran today at : http://xrl.us/biz87
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (06.25.08)
21. So, Gisele, #8, who doctored the translation you heard?
or perhaps Ahmedinejad makes his threats in French! (And by the way, Ahmedinejad's threat to "wipe Israel away" comes from his own official website, dear!)
Jake   (06.25.08)
22. Perisan CAT #14, those are your words, not ours
"Israel and the rest of Iran's enemies are barking off the wrong tree." It is you and your spineless leader who call Israel the enemy of Iran, and not the other way around. Your Great Leader Khomeini was perfectly happy to take Israeli military assistance and armaments during Iran's devastating war against Iraq, and announce at the same time that Israel is a mortal enemy that should disappear from the face of the earth. You lack legitimacy and sense.
Jake   (06.25.08)
23. Reply to #8 Gisele Beirut
Well, I believe the person that translated from Farsi to English was a Iranian born Jew, Or maybe you didn't know that in Israel there lives a community of around 100'000 that speak Farsi as a first language? The French do not even know how to speak English correctly, Let alone Farsi.
ronald ,   brooklyn   (06.25.08)
24. Exactly the Opposite
Without an attack, Iran will build a bomb. Only an attack can stop their mad quest for nuclear annihilation. The ugly and terrifying words spoken by the Iranian leadership about the destruction of Israel and death to America are clear to all sober minded people. Do not allow history to repeat itself.
David Samson ,   Toronto, Canada   (06.25.08)
25. Israel Must Attack Iran Before Iran attacks Israel
Ahmadinejad has promised more than once to wipe Israel off the world map and he means it. This leaves Israel with two options, attack or wait and be attacked, all while Iran's proxies Hamas and Hezbullah kill Jews. There is a mighty confrontation with the evil mullah government that is coming, it's just a question of when. My opinion is, Israel should hit Iran first and hit Iran hard. The first punch, if well placed, usually decides a fight's outcome.

26. #19 Mahmood, time to face reality
Mr. Solana has been working on a diplomatic solution with Iran for over a year. Iran had ample time to cooperate but instead, mocked the West while holding off inspectors and threatening Israel. The economy of Iran is very significant. Ahmadinejad has been in office since 2005. He was elected on a platform to fix the economy and fight corruption. He ignored both problems, isolated Iran and placed Iran's nuclear program at center stage while alarming world leaders with his threats and irresponsible statements. Enough time has been spent in friendly discussions to no avail. Iran may pay a heavy price for its arrogance and lack of cooperation.

27. #14 Kitty
There is no such thing as a "screw driver away" from nuclear weapons. Uranium either is or is not purified to weapons grade. It either is or is not weaponized for missiles. Neither purification to weapons grade nor weaponization is allowed by the NPT which Iran signed. Do you write this stuff due to ignorance or because you are a propangadist? In the latter case, you aren't doing a good job. Try harder.

28. ONWARD GOYIM SOLDIERS
Now, all Israel has to do is to get more goyim to die to assure its 1200 nuke pile is the only one in the ME. Onward Christian soldiers - keep dying for Israel.
CHOSEN WORLD ,   TORONTO CANADA   (06.25.08)
29. Solana
Caption below Solana "We expect an answer soon" was funny in 2006 when he had been saying that for 3 yrs. Now, 5 yrs later, it is a stale joke in poor taste. Does this man have no self-respect?
EZ ,   USA   (06.25.08)
30. #25, You should not be making such recommendations
particularly when Israel is ruled by Olmert, a certified weakling and loser. Olmert has what I would call the Reverse Midas Touch. Everything he touches turns to sh*t. Olmert would botch a mission against Iran far worse than the one against Hizbullah in 2006. Not only he cannot hit Iran, he could not hit a fly, unless that fly happened to threaten his hold on power. Besides, I sincerely believe that bombing Iran's nuclear facilities would not stop enrichment, but merely accelerate it - in multiple sites 100 ft. under ground.
