Although there's no love lost for any religion on my part, let's do be fair. Catholics don't exactly have a monopoly on criminality, child abuse included. Some religions simply incorporate it into their canons, some keep such a tight lid on their faithful, they don't dare complain, and some people, regardless of their religion, are just disgusting and/or sick human beings. As for good ol' #2, well, there has to be a reason even for him. It probably falls into the category of "God's nature is unknown and unknowable." Some people , without rhyme or reason, simply are. This is a disturbing thought. I would think that the Maoris would identify more with the Palestinians since both have experienced or are experiencing the brutality of illegal Occupations and human rights violations.

Our traditional Judaism is viewed through the prism of Maimonides introduction of Aristotelian logic into Judaism. The mysticism implicit in Kabbalah attracts a certain type of person and fills certain needs . Just as Sufi mysticism filled the needs of some Muslims, and Christian mysticism fills the needs of certain types of Christians.Because you and I disagree with it doesn't mean Kabbala is not really Jewish.

Actually for Maori to identify with the Palestinians is to identify with the oppressors for the very fact that the Palestinians are not the indigenous peoples of Israel. The term 'Palestinian' is a relatively new nationalistic term not based on indigenous but on political nostalgia i.e. they are named after the extinct biblical peoples the 'Philistines'. For Maori to identify with this is to identify with the Narnia stories and other pieces of fiction.
