1. i hurt for her but be realistic
izzy d   (06.29.08)
She acts as if the prime minister of israel knows as much as she does. this is not true.
2. Live murderers for dead soldiers promotes killing soldiers.

3. It's sad when a person's pain sways such a decision
Millie ,   Israel   (06.29.08)
While many of us can empathize with the pain of the families of those who are held MIA (or KIA), they should not be able to exert such extreme pressure on the government or the public. This is exactly what happened under the pressure of the "4 mothers" who eventually persuaded the weak-willed Barak to leave Lebanon in such haste. The disasterous consequences of such pressure crushes the moral fiber of the nation and paves the way to even more harmful events. One could say that a consequence of the enormous pressure on Barak to leave Lebanon was that it empowered the Hezballah, which eventually led to the 2006 debacle. It is sad to say, but the gov't caving to the same kind of pressure will have disasterous results for ordinary Israeli civilians. We should have restored our powerful resolve to eschew jeopardizing the fate of the nation's citizens in prisoner swaps by not carrying them out altogether.
4. It's a sad day for Israel when personal...
Millie ,   Israel   (06.29.08)
considerations overtake the moral obligation to protect the citizens. I feel the families' pain, but the blood of innocent Israelis will be needlessly spilled because politicians with no moral compass bend to this kind of pressure. We must never let the families' make a public hue and cry when the safety of the nation's citizens is at stake.
5. a nightmare.
JB ,   Australia   (06.29.08)
the families of the abducted soldiers must be going through hell. a real emotional rollercoaster that never ends. they have my sympathy.
6. Moral dilemna
Ellen ,   Los Angeles   (06.29.08)
This situation is a terrible moral dilemna for the State of Israel. Honoring the request to bring back Israeli soldiers - whether dead or alive - yet remembering that the terrorist that we release murdered someone's child. How do you balance the need for closure for the family of the missing soldiers, the need for continued closure for those who lost loved ones due to these terrorists and national security! I don't see how anyone is in a position to judge Olmert's performance until you've sat in that seat. I sure would not want to be making this decision.
7. To the bearaved families
Gabriel ,   Montreal , Canada   (06.29.08)
I feel terribly bad for the Regev and Goldwasser Family..... All my sympathy goes tothem. Yet They are makingso much noise that the government took a terrible decision that will hurt the ability of Israel to conduct state of affair responsbly... I Truly believe that with this decision the soldiers of Israel are more in jeopardy than ever for the sake of this two families. In other words they put their interest before the state and the entire Jewish people...They where weak enough to fell on Hizbullah trapp
8. My heart goes out to Mrs. Goldwasser but
Mike ,   Jerusakem   (06.29.08)
there are facts that have been presented by professionals, the men have not been heard from in 2 years, Hizbollah has never said that they are alive. What will it take fro Mrs. Goldwasser to come to grips with rea;lity? How will she feel if G-d Forbid Hizbollah does indeed return corses? Corpses that are 2 years old! Will she deny that these are our soldiers? And if she fiunally accepts realityif this be the case and we have let a live Kuntar free how will she deal with this? How will she feel knowing that we have released a murderer and unrepentant murderer who has openly said that once free he will murder again! Are you willing to take this risk Mrs. Goldwasser against what Olmert has said and against what the professionals have said backed up by the evidence that they presented to Rabbi Ronsky?
9. Bad deal
worried father ,   Israel   (06.29.08)
The whole way this was handled was a disgrace. It's clear that the families want their loved ones back. However it is the responsibility of the government to act logically and not emotionally. My son is now in the army. Will Karnit help him when he is kidnapped because the terrorists know that we will trade?
10. probably dead is closer to reality than possibly dead,
observer   (06.29.08)
but it is still a probability.
11. Cruel Islamists strike again
BJL ,   usa   (06.29.08)
How cruel can they be? Israel is making ANOTHER mistake. Turning loose 5 terrorists for a likely box of bones is a cruel joke by Nisrallah and Olmert is stupid enoough to go for it. It be bad enough if they were alive but for bones?
12. Hezbollah & Swap
ROBOCOP ,   FUTURE- USA   (06.30.08)
I am sure most anyone that has been following this for the last 2 years feels for the IDF soldiers families. But if they were alive Hezbollah would be demanding a far higher price exchange in prisoners from Israel(more),although giving Kuntar is high on the list especially for the families affected by what Kuntar did.
13. Our missing soldiers
Miriam ,   Israel   (06.30.08)
Years ago our soldier Chezi Shai was missing and presumed dead for 3 years. Then, all of a sudden, he was returned alive. We mustn't yet give up hope that our 2 boys are still alive. The same goes for Ron Arad and our 3 missing soldiers Baumel, Feldman, and Katz. What would you do if they were YOUR sons?
