31. 11 - self-determination and democracy
Daniel ,   NYC   (07.02.08)
Without resorting to Edithann's idiotic response to your illogical post, here's a more logical response: 1. Democracy is not just political voting; it is also a free press, a balance of powers, an independent judiciary, and many other things. Political voting happens in many non-democracies. 2. Neither democracy's cause nor its effect are solely self-determination. Self-determination is merely an impetus for the rise of many of the most recent nation-building projects, and didn't come about as a concept until the last century and a half, after the rise of quite a few other nations. 3. Self-determination is not mutually exclusive; i.e. Arab votes don't impugn our self-determination in a majority Jewish state. Antonio, if you're going to couch your xenophobia in political terms, at least do those terms some justice and settle with "I am afraid of Arab votes, therefore I believe the Arab right to vote should be withdrawn."
32. Cleansing the Knesset!
marlene ,   philadelphia USA   (07.02.08)
ABOUT TIME! There shouldn't be any arab muslim occupiers in the Knesset - PERIOD!
33. #25 , Poor dumb ignorant 'Observer'
Jake   (07.02.08)
I couldn't help noticing during the Oslo accords that Yitzhak Rabin, the Prime Minister of Israel, was born in Jerusalem in 1922, while Yasser Arafat, leader of the PLO, was born in Cairo. The young Rabin would have fully aware that he was living in a country called 'Eretz Israel' in Hebrew prior to 1948. I wonder if the young Arafat had even heard of the name 'Falastin'. Your comparison of Israel to the Crusader kingdoms comes straight from the old Arab bag of tricks. My grandfather, one out of many, owned land in Eretz Israel long before the founding of the state of Israel. He did not invade anyone's land. The land was bought from the Jewish Agency, which in turn bought the land from absentee Arab landlords, not Palestinians. Then again, when you have convinced yourself of an irridentist made-up mythological version of history, starting with 'King Herod was an Arab', I would not expect you to recognize the facts for what they are.
34. #31, how ignorant you are!
Antonio ,   Haifa   (07.02.08)
No, my fiend (sic), democracy is political voting. Other things you mentioned are either protected rights (100% undemocratic, since they cannot/should not ever be outvoted) or have to do with structure of the government (like independent judiciary). And, yes, I am afraid of Arabs, I have no qualms admitting that. These destructive primitives are our enemies, and it is our Jewish duty to kick them ALL out of our homeland in the most cruel, yet humane, way possible. So that they and the world would remember--this land is ours, and noone else's.
35. To#11. To Edithann #17. Who Taught You History ?
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (07.02.08)
You say :”.. (the Arabs) are the original owners of the land (of Israel) ..”. Edithann, who has taught you History ? History did NOT start in 638 AD !! BTW myths are not counted as historical facts. To Antonio #11. You write :”.. end Arab voting rights altogether “. Have you lost your mind ? Arabs should continue voting. There is nothing wrong with them voting. Only thing, they should not elect traitors to the Knesset.
36. To Observer #25. Want To ERASE History Of.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (07.02.08)
You say :”The best description of modern Israel is .. the Kingdom of Jerusalem established by the Crusaders (in 1099 AD) “. AND by adding “Israel did not exist “ -- you are implying that there was no Israel before 1099 AD. IT seems to me that you want to ERASE the history of Israel of before 1099 AD. Your intent is OBVIOUS -- to discredit the existence of the State of Israel. By stating “Israel did not exist “ -- are you saying there was no Israel in the Second Millennium BC ; are you saying there was no Israel in the First Millennium BC ; are you saying there was no Israel in the First Millennium AD ??? Observer, who are you trying to FOOL ?! The Arabs ?
37. Allegiance to the State
Yaakov ,   Dallas TX   (07.03.08)
I am appalled by the silence of Israeli politicians as well as the citizens to such anti Israel behavior by these Arab members of the Knesset, and shocked that such conduct has occurred without penalty so far.
