1. Wish more people would take in cats!!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (07.01.08)
And I hope that the cat they rescued was neutered!
2. neutered?
Roland ,   Jerusalem   (07.02.08)
Actually he wasn't neutred and the veterinarian saved him anyway. I applaud him.
3. rescue cat
fido ,   Maaleh adumim   (07.02.08)
That is very admirable that the veterinary services goes out to rescue cats. If one calls the city in maaleh Adumim because a stray cat is in trouble the city replies that they may not interfere with feral cats and not to bother them! Maybe they have become callous after one too many complaints by 'cat lovers' against trapping and moving feral cats but still..
4. Happy ending! May future events in Israel be like this.

I can't stand people but this truly was a wonderful thing.
7. Roland #2 You didn't understand what I wrote
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (07.02.08)
If I had said what you thought I had said, I would have written: I hope that the cat HAD been neutered. (using the past perfect) What I did say was: I hope the cat was neutered - AFTER IT WAS RESCUED!! I don't understand how you could not have understood that.

I'm with you. I have six cats that were all either rescued or adopted from shelters, and they're very clean and quite well-behaved...which is more than I can say for a lot of people's children.
9. Bunnie, who the hell CAN you stand ? (end)

I've always been curious as to what would cause someone to hate cats, especially since there isn't anything intrinsically repugnant about them. Certainly, you don't have to love them, but what would make someone have such an intense negative reaction other than a full-blown phobia? And if it's something about their behavior that bothers you, trust me, that's usually the fault of the owner.
11. What a beauty is this white and black cat on the photo.
GZ ,   NYC, USA   (07.03.08)
Gentle, serene, intelligent, graceful... Lucky are the people who have such a companion.
12. 10- me too, just don't get it. I've lost my 18 year old

cat recently and I feel quite bereft.

You certainly have my sympathies. I lost an 18 year-old cat several years ago, so I know how it feels. I don't know if you have any other cats at home, but if you don't, and as you say you feel quite bereft, which is understandable, have you thought about getting another cat? I know for some people that feels almost like a betrayal if you don't wait a "respectable" length of time, but I've had both experiences. One where I couldn't bring another cat into the house for several months because my three-year old cat developed leukemia (in the days when there was no vaccine) and had to be euthanized. On another occasion, I got another cat the day after I had to have one put down. It just made it so much easier to cope with the death of the first cat and we were able to give another cat a good home. It's just something for you to think about.
14. 13- Thank you. This was the second and last
(07.06.08)
of our Siamese that we lost, so when the first one went two years ago, sad as it was, at least we had the other one who kept looking for him. Don't know who was suffering most over this, him or me. We will probably get another couple from the catshop (as my husband calls it) or correctly the rescue centre in due course.
15. Cats
Leah ,   Israel   (07.07.08)
This story made my day! Cats are such curious creatures and I'm glad this one was able to be saved. I have 2 cats, both w/heart conditions (one much worse than the other). Their vet visits aren't cheap, but they are worth every sheckel I spend on their health. Every day of love and companionship they give me is worth the monetary expense.
16. #12 & 13
Leah ,   Israel   (07.07.08)
I lost my first cat when she was 18 1/2 (she adopted us when she was a tiny kitten), and I understand your heartbreak. You've lost more than a pet... you've lost a part of your family. It's been 6 years and I still miss my girl. But I get joy out of my 2 cats that I adopted (or vice versa) a couple of months after she died. By all means, DO adopt again!!
