1. Come again? Who's scared?
Millie ,   Israel   (07.02.08)
With the worst gov't in our short history at the helm and the disaster sof Lebanon War 2006 and the impending Hezbonazi 2-step, our enemies are hysterical with laughter, not fear. Good grief! If anything, the US is using us as a potential scapegoat. When another big conflagration here erupts, the Jews will be the excuse, yet again. It doesn't matter that we would be targeted once Iran gets its hands on the nukes - they've got the delivery system already. There would be no one else to blame but Israel. The fingerpointing has commenced.
2. America is using Israel to scare Iran ??
Samer ,   Ramallah   (07.02.08)
Oh like Israel is the world's super power !!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, try and hit Iran and see what's gonna happen for you zionists
3. Blinking does not work on Fanatics
Brod ,   USA   (07.02.08)
The Islamist-JIhadist fanatics are hellbent on making their nukes. Hence, empty drums do not deter them. If the Leftists can't even defend the country from the unrelenting rocket attacks from Hamastan, how can they deal with a bigger challenge? The fanatics in Tehran know this.
4. Blink!
eddie ,   london   (07.02.08)
if Israel does atatck Iran, the americans will say: it was disproportional; unhelpful; poorly timed; not a bad thing.
5. If Iran doesn't blink, it will lose its eyes and head!
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.02.08)
6. The oil interests are trying to scare the world.
shalom ,   BOSTON   (07.02.08)
Everybody knows that Israel cannot attack Iran. This is just a scheme by the oil speculators in the USA and Israel to raise the fear factor that is driving up the price of oil. The American oil speculators are hiring Israeli politicians to open their mouths.
7. We should not wait : tomorrow it might be too late.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (07.02.08)
A nuclear Iran has become an increasingly contentious issue as Ahmadinejad will not have any moral consideration keeping him from using the atomic bomb. A preventive strike against a declared genocidal Iran, will be a severe blow to world terrorism and will reduce significantly our problems with the terrorist state of Syria, the Hizbullah and Hamas. It will also remove the threat of a nuclear missile attack on Europe, Russia, China and India. The population in the West, as well as in the other peace loving countries will feel safer again. 9. #1 You are the smallest in the neighborhood. It has to come
from you to show ,   your strength.   (07.02.08)
10. #6 You are 100% correct!
Mark ,   Boston   (07.02.08)
In exchange, Americans will blame the Israeli lobby AIPAC for rising oil prices. The further demonization of Israel by the world. Israeli leaders have sold its citizens out, once again.
11. #2 from Ramallah
Jake   (07.02.08)
"Well, try and hit Iran and see what's gonna happen for you zionists" Let me guess. You and your buddies will be dancing on your roofs, cheering for Ahmedinejad to bomb Tel Aviv, just like you did with Saddam when he sent Scuds back in '91. But don't jump too high. You might get clipped by a Shihab as it is whizzing on by.
12. You didn't like my comment?
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (07.02.08)
Which part didn't you like? The necessity of a first strike? The effects of a first strike on Israel by Iran? Or just the statement that those who talk peace the most ensure the most future casualties. Maybe it was the description of the Iranian ideology - that wasn't very PC either, was it? OK, Ynet editors, you can stick your head back into the sand. As the expression goes, "De Nile isn't just a river in Egypt."
13. America And Israel Will Blink
Dan ,   USA   (07.03.08)
You can be sure America will blink first and a millisecond later Israel, who is so dependent on America, will blink. Over the years through poor leadership in the presidency and congress America has become a paper tiger. Willing to send troops but not willing to make the sacrifices to win. Afraid of the opinion of other countries and American doves. Israel's problem is that it is too corrupt to even care about winning. Anything Israel does had better be before Obama wins, because he will never support a strong Israel. The Arab countries, Russia and China all know this as well.
14. Nonsense - Israel cannot afford to blink
Doron   (07.03.08)
America is not interested in a war. america does not care about iran or israel. it cares about the middle east because the ME = oil and oil = america's economy. for those reasons, america wants to calm the situation. But to those who think Israel will blink don't get it. Israel can't blink. this is country of holocaust survivors and their relatives. never again means never again, and iran is making statements that are sparking the collective psyche. the situation now is that america has realized that israel can't blink. so have the iranians. the iranians have said they will close the strait of hormuz if israel attacks. america has said they will intervene if this happens. this will force america and iran into a war that neither wants. so now the iranians are trying to court the americans into not responding. ultimately, the question deciding the matter is how much capacity the iranians have. if they can hit israel without hurting the west, they would prefer it. if they can't, they may just have to sit on their hands, unless they want to send themselves into a war with america that will be very damaging.
15. This is a Jewish-NeoCon war.
Homer ,   Jackson, MS   (07.03.08)
The very idea of a war on terror, is one that the Jews and the NeoCons alike see as beneficial. The Jews get to rid themselves of threats to their national existence, and the greedy corrupt NeoCons get to profit from it.
16. #10. Although I agree with Shalom and you, but...
Persian CAT   (07.03.08)
are you saying AIPAC has had no role in fanning the flames of war against Iran just as it did its damn best to encourage GW to attack Iraq? It is very obvious GW's prepared remarks will be something like, "The Jews made me do it". And EVERYONE will believe him.
17. #13. I'm dying to know what PERSONSAL SACRIFICES have YOU...
Persian CAT   (07.03.08)
done to "win"? Seems like everyone is either corrupt or suffers from "poor leadership" in your opinion. Why does a country like the US allow a bundle of leadership talent like you to go to waste?
18. OY VEY, SAY WHAT?
WHAT? ,   WHAT?   (07.03.08)
The American's are using Israel as a pawn? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Excuse me while I compose myself. Poor little Israel caught in the middle eh? OY VEY, will da sufferink ever end? If the US doesn't quit playing these games is da poor poysecuted Jews on the voige of another Hollowco$t? How about you reverse the article, to where poor little Israel is using America as a pawn so they can steal oil and pump it to Haifa and stamp out poor little Israels enemies so they can have hegemony all paid for by American blood and money and then you will be closer to the truth.

20. FOR # 17
Dan ,   USA   (07.04.08)
What personal sacrifices have I made to win? What the hell are you talking about? This article has nothing to do withy individual personal sacrifices. As for Israel and the U.S. having poor and corrupt leadership the name Olmert brings to mind both poor and corrupt leadership and the name Bush is synonomous with poor leadership. Our congress has a satisfaction rating by U.S. citizens of under 25%, I would say that is not an overwhelming positive leadership number.Past presidents and congresses did nothing when our marines and ships were attacked. Many senators and congressmen have had to leave their positions for taking bribes or colluding with lobbyists. I would explain further but from reading your post I truly believe you are too stupid to understand.
