Of course now, isn't he? Just doing some necessary placating for the Arabs, in order to prepare the grounds for moving the American Embassy to Jerusalem.
After all, he seemed so pro-Israeli in that AIPAC speech... Surely this wasn't just campaign talk now was it? Surely that speech wasn't just empty lip-service. Surely he doesn't flip-flop this easily. Surely he's an ardent Zionist, and supports Jerusalem as Israel's undivided capital, not only in empty words, but in serious actions to back them up. He is going to move the American embassy to Jerusalem! That'll show them Arabs! The great US of A finally recognizes and acknowledges Israel's sole sovereignty over Jerusalem... Wow, what the neo-con Bush failed to deliver in two terms in office, Obama would do instead. As the no. 1 item on his agenda, when taking office! No Doubt!

Jerusalem has been majority Jewish since at least 1865. It has *never* served as the capitol of any Arabic polity. Photos of the Temple Mount from the late 1800s shows the Mosque and Dome in states of disrepair and rarely utilized. BTW, the Arabic name for that site "bayt al' makdis" is derived from the Hebrew designation "beyt ha'mikdash" - Holy Temple.
