In Halacha, there is a concept of "Shteeka K'Hoda'a" which means "silence (when accused) is admission". I do not know if this applies in all cases all the time, but according to the simple understanding of this principle, a person has to provide a defense for himself or, if by his silence he makes no defense, the law assumes the accusation to be true. Quite the opposite of Goyishe law.
