35. #4 - "Palestinians" for Ultra Orthodox.....is like
a chicken voting for Cl. Sanders.... Despite your Taliban mentality in common with them, you and yours will be the first to go. All you have in common with them is intolerance. You deserve each other.

37. 4# Jim Jones was pretty close to those teachings
before he had everyone drink the Kool-aid spiked with cyanide in Guyana.
As long as the religious group believes everyone should drink it....then why not?
Religious intolerance and control can lead to the breakdown of a society just as, to much liberalism, can break the society down.
It's fun to force everyone to conform though. If they don't...you just chase them out of town shooting at them, while they ask for political asylum.
It's happening on the US Border. The Mexican drug gangs have run the sherrif to the border, and in fear, he asks for asylum in the United States.
Religious intolerance brings about similar results.
Liberal's who push their brand of life off on everyone else do the same thing.
People migrate to areas that suit them. Or wars occur, when one group tries pushing their theocracy down others throats by force. Terrorism, in the guise of, my land should be given back, is a perfect example.
It has nothing to do with the land....they are fighting to kill, or convert you to their religion. Should the Jews be making the same mistake by driving out the secularists in Jerusalem? That's a question left unanswered.
Making a neighborhood into an intolerant religious fiefdom, is pretty close to what the Muslims plan to do with Israel too. Should the Jews be following suit, in their endeavor, is the bigger question?
If the Ultra Orthodox won't protect the country, because they are to busy studying......who will keep Jerusalem from being sacked by force, when fanatical religious Muslims are at the gates. Will the Ultra Orthodox throw the books at the invaders?
Accepting a happy medium usually keeps each group from running for the hills, to escape a sentence from living a life, they never intended to live.
So they leave Jerusalem. When they start leaving the country.....that's when the Ultra Orthodox will have to pick up a weapon.....or join the other religious clan by force.
The Muslims don't plan on moving away because of intolerance. They plan on taking over by force. They won't wait for anyone to leave, when the people who protect the country, immigrate to other countries.
Jewish religious intolerance, helps the Muslims achieve their goal in the end. If terrorism doesn't cause you to want to move away.....Jewish religious intolerance, similar to all other religious intolerance, will get you to move.
Lets all live in a intolerant world with one world view. Who said anyone was supposed to be free to think?
I have yet to see animals commit such stupid acts upon themselves.
Maybe they have more sense. Maybe we are deluding ourselves about our rank in the big scheme of things.
If a sheep has more sense than a human....what does that really say about our species.
Of course they follow everyone else over the cliff.
Sounds pretty similar...should we worship them? We do have a lot in common.

38. Get over your Charediphobia, Orbach. You're pathetic!
Your father was just as they were, and if not father - grandfather, and if not grandfather, grand-grandfather. Don't spit into the well you've been drinking for. Get treatment for your phobia too.

41. secularists/leftists-tel aviv next!
So orbach doesnt like Jerusalem or Haredim-who cares? To the dismay of leftists and secularists (not to mention leftist media rags) Jerusalem is one of the most sought after pieces of real estate in the world-Jews are buying homes there to the tune of not having enough space. And what is causing that if all you sick godless crybabies want to leave? The religious character of the city! Dont like it too bad! Stay in that urine scented self hater infested hellenist bastion of freedom known as tel aviv. Guess what? Yeshivot and religious Jews are popping up there too! Another 20 years and the country will be religious and we'll be shipping your dumb asses off to india.

42. Uri orbach\'s column
I
i was on a bus from Ramot to the main bus station in Jerusalem , with a friend, she is not dati, from Herzliya, and she was amazed at the number of datiim on the bus, and that men were not sitting with women. I told her that ithis s the way it is in certain parts of Jerusalem.
But she came away with the idea that this is the way throughout Jerusalem
Many, many people in the shefelah think the way she does!!!

43. # 26 Haim in NY - what do they have to be proud of ?
They are a proud community?
I guess you mean by that, not working, not paying taxes, not serving in the IDF, Vandalising a shop for selling MPV4 players , attacking women on buses, denying females a chance to sing in the knesset, making 14 year olds dress like sacks for the bridge opening ceremony, throwing acid in a young girls face for wearing jeans....
shall i continue, is this the pride you speak of?
It seems your view of what is really happening in Jerusalmem is somewhat clouded from your vantage point in the USA !

44. What happened?
Having read the article, I'm a little surprised that it came from Uri Orbach, as usually the articles have something to say.
It's all the more surprising coming from a religious person. I guess beneath the sarcasm, that he wanted people to look at their beliefs and what they're saying/doing? Or it could just be a case of the author having a bad day. It happens to everyone.

48. Wow! I love all the feedbacks here. Is Uri paying attention?
95% of the commens here are against you, Uri. Read them and learn something.
P.S. about 90% of Israelis do not want the Chareidim to recieve welfare. Many of those would like funding to go to Yeshivot, but at the same time, do not want people to be living off other people's tax money.
Why are the Chareidim still recieving welfare? Because the absolute representational democracy in Israel does not represent the people. It would be better if the system was like almost any other country anywhere! I am Daati, and I do not agree with Chareidim recieving welfare just because they decide not to work and prefer to learn. There should be no such thing as optional welfare. Welfare should only be for people who really need it, and even then, it should have a system to help people get back on their feet and support themselves.
But, damn it, were're going to have to wait a long time until a political party has enough seats in the Knesset that it will be able to change the welfare system.
However, don't place all the blame on the Chareidim. First of all, many do not live on wellfare. Secondly, why do you expect the ones that do recieve welfare to suddenly stop and find jobs. That would be wonderful, and a kiddush-HaShem. However, they are human. If the population does not want to give them the welfare money, they shouldn't. Why are they complaining when they could simply reform the way they give welfare? When 90% of people do not support the system as it is now? Why can't they determine how they give their own money? Why? Because of the stupid system of government.

49. whatever
If someone doesn't sell a candy bar or newspaper, or request that people dress modestly when coming into their PRIVATELY OWNED store, it's their choice, that has nothing to do with the municipality.
And if the municipality decides to respect the wishes of the majority population, that's laudable.
If you don't like it, move out, which you did.
It's just a ridiculous thing to lump all of these criteria together as proof of a charedi takeover.
anyway, your type of population type did it to yourself by only having one or two kids, so you have no right to complain.

50. Good Riddance
B"H
Uri, you are not "datti," you are a mamlachti. There is difference.
Datti'im worship HaShem and follow his Torah.
Mamlachim worship the state like the golden calf.
You and the Aviners are going to cause this "state" to implode.
Good, then we can have true, Jewish sovereignty over the Land.
