1. Send them in without air and arty support
Michael   (08.04.08)
And you will see how tough they by the nummber wich comes back. More actions less words. Anyone can brag but few can live up to it.
2. Besha'a tova
David ,   Haifa   (08.04.08)
I truly hope that this commander is right. Still, one of the reasons why the last war was lost by Israel - which does not mean that Hezbollah won it - was that Israel underestimated the capabilities and determination of its enemies. Pride goes before a fall.
3. Hezbollah no match for IDF.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (08.04.08)
Wrong thesis. The real question is are our political leaders, like Olmert, Livni, Barak, or Mofaz & the politicians who support them, a match for Nasrallah, Ahmadinejad, etc. & the movements & ideology that support them? Evidence suggests that they are not. The IDF was certainly capable of winning the Lebanon war but our leaders turned it into a fiasco. Hamas seems to be doing just fine in Gaza & will soon take over the West Bank. The Iranian nuclear program is proceeding with no interruption. Let's face it - our leaders are inept, incompetent, & have been out-manoeuvered consistently.
4. Fight With No Hands Tied
Dave Levy ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (08.04.08)
Terry has a valid point, this is, and has never been about army tactics (albeit poor in the last war), but politics. Israel finally called up 50,000 reservists and sent them in, but too late. The UN always calls for a cease fire when Israel is winning..forcing Israel to do things under pressure and sometimes recklessly. 34 days was too long for this fight..obviously AND Hez had better preparations than thought. But the IDF is trained to fight armies..not militants/protestors. Hez did fire 4,200 Kassams into Israel, something unheard of an unacceptable for a country. Israel needs to reconsider taking out Lebanon's infrastructure in any new war..from the border to Syria. If Israel is vulnerable, than Lebanon is no different. Give residents 24 hrs to seek shelter, then use daisy cutters, bunker busters..soften up Hez for the kill, whether tanks, F16s whatever. The next time it won't be pretty, and total, as indicated by the general. No mercy should be shown Hez...play time is over.
5. yeh yeh whatever
Doron   (08.04.08)
see you in the next battle
6. Big talking till the first tank gets hit
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (08.04.08)
Tankists tend to lose confidence when they see what happens after an anti-tank missile scores a direct hit.
7. #4 Dave Levy, Burbank CA
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (08.04.08)
All conflicts have a military solution. There is a tactic for all occasions. The only question is how ruthless you are willing to be. But our political leadership has always been inept - even when we win wars, we manage to lose the peace. We don't know how to win. This has been the case since before the founding of the state & has only become more acute with the passing of time, culminating in this current group of leaders who are undoubtably the worst in our history.
8. CHANGE OF STRATEGY.............#3
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (08.04.08)
While you are correct in your presumption, you also have to take into account the whole strategy of the present day war planning.IDF has heavily relied on the Air Force which turned out to cause substantial civilian casualties and you know it very well.If politicians were to take the entire blame, shorcomings exist in every country but overall change in tactics has nothing to do with the politicians. IDF underestimate the capabilities of Hizbulla's and even now they continue to do so with the latest remarks. No one desires war but when it comes to it,underestimating the opponents without any foundation tends to please the civilians temperorily. They now know the true picture.
9. Hesbullah exist only because it is sustained by Iranian...
Robert Bernier   (08.04.08)
Hesbullah exist only because it is sustained by Iranian subsidies. More than ever, Hezbollah is a Shiite party, shorn of its exalted status as a national resistance movement. Behind Hezbollah's deeds is the fine hand of Iran. Nasrallah had tried to obscure the difference between Lebanon's needs and those of his paymasters in Iran. In a widely scrutinized speech the cleric gave in late May, on the eighth anniversary of Israel's withdrawal from southern Lebanon, Nasrallah claimed that he was at once a devoted believer in Ayatollah Khomeini's revolution and a son of Lebanon who believed in its "specificity" and pluralism. 10. The real question., Is Hamas good for the Jews?
Mic ,   Yehuda   (08.04.08)
And wheather this was an intelligent act, LOL!, ROTF!, etc by our leaders or a Prophetic act direct from 'The Boss'. Would you rather have some real nice 'acting' group to turn half your miniscule country over to for dinner? A Hamas takeover might be good for the Jews. As long as there was Arafat the poison monkey there was no chance of a 2'nd state inside our, few mile wide, natural borders which on the east, is the Jordan river. Hamas is like a permanent poison monkey we can never make peace with and can just go on fighting till we have resettled the whole place.Or Armageddon after which we get the 'whole enchalada" anyway. Have a nice day. Mic From, ' Israel The Restored Tibet of The Middle East'..
11. Competant leaders tell their men that
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (08.04.08)
some of you are going to die. In fact it is possible that thousands are going to die. Competant leaders tell their men that they are there to control the amount of needless deaths from occuring. These clowns have dug in like in Vietnam. Why send in armor...if you don't plan on hanging on to the territory anyways? There is no point sending them in. Bomb the civilian areas like they do to Israel. Make them spend billions rebuilding their cities. Bomb Syria and Iran's cities as well. They fund these wars. When Iran and Syria have to pay a price for funding wars against Israel.....then maybe they will get a clue before they try it again. If it takes bigger bombs.....then so be it. There is no reason to invade Lebanon. The missiles that are being supplied are getting added range every month. Taking land as a buffer doesn't help anymore. Plan B dictates bombing the attackers and instigaters. Mess with their economies. Bomb Iran's oil facilities, leaving them no income to fund these wars against Israel. Take out their factories as well as planes and military hardware.
12. #8 Mahmood. You couldn't be more wrong.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (08.04.08)
You are letting wishful thinking interfere with objective analysis. First off, all wars are political decisions & so are the tactics & strategies involved. The number of civilian casualties acceptable as collateral damage is a political judgement. Second, war always has political aims - it is a method of obtaining a result unobtainable by diplomatic means. Winning the peace is as important as winning the war. The next war may very well destroy Lebanon as a nation-state. It may end up as a failed state with no central gov't. - just a loose collection of war-lords competing for power & money - which is almost the case at present. The real question to ask is will Hezbollah be willing to provoke another conflict & given the nature of their ideology, the answer is probably yes.
13. #12 Terry
Softwalker ,   Ottawa, Canada   (08.04.08)
Terry, in some respects Lebanon *already has* become a failed state. It's effectively controlled by a group that is not accountable to Lebanon's voters, but which has veto power over all government decisions, and which is armed with thousands of missiles. Also, in some respects, Hezbollah operates under cover of U.S. backing because the U.S. is propping up the Siniorita government.
14. IDF is affraid to make any move, kids!

17. Operation Shredder
Walid ,   Riyadh   (08.04.08)
An analogy could be drawn between what happened in Summer 2006 and Opertaion Shredder in 1966. Then IDF launched Op Shredder targerting Fatah hideouts in Hebron, however it didn't go as planned. 8 months later IDF routed out 3 Arab armies. In 2006, some mistakes, attributed to the political command, hindered IDF from finishing up Hizbo. I trust the next round will be decisive and i have no doubts about the result.
18. to 'chanalau'-big question if you dare answer
Arie ,   BaGolan   (08.04.08)
Would you be posting the same way if you lived in a free country that had not yet surrendered to islamic rule?
19. "lebanon" - RIP
Arie ,   BaGolan   (08.04.08)
20. #15 - you mean Nasrallah ?
Nathan Rai ,   Bangalore   (08.04.08)
Big mouth weak heart ... Nasrallah ? Yearning for victory while scooting from rathole to rat hole. Your Mahdi will be laughing his pants off at brave Nasrallahs speed while running between bunkers...
21. Mahmood-UKs underestimation
Nathan Rai ,   Bangalore   (08.04.08)
Some amount of underestimation is going on. True. The next time around will clear all doubts. The last time we had 2 separate entities, Hezbollah and the "Government". This time there is only one. Let me make an educated guess. At the end of the next round, the earth will be about cleaned off the Shia scum. Because for the Saviour / Mahdi to come, the earth must be cleansed of the scum.
22. Chanalau - London.
Nathan Rai ,   Bangalore   (08.04.08)
Hello Consistant Winner. Olmert lives in a bunker right ? Your Mullah didnt tell you that ? If Sharia is so wonderful, what are you doing in England Sir ? Why are you not living in in Iran, or any Sharia ruled state ? Feel free to make Mohammed proud with more Taqiyeh, but do try to keep in mind that all the world did not study in a madrassa.
23. Mahmood - causation
Arie ,   BaGolan   (08.04.08)
Whether by air, sea or land, there were going to be significant civilian casualties - and the cause is simple: hezbullah's willful placement of its launchers, munitions, and encampments in the midst of heavily populated area. They not only want, they encourage civilian casualties - all in the name of some supposed allah! Any army will will go after the heart of the enemy's military, no matter where it is headquartered!
24. So sad...
Nathan Rai ,   Bangalore   (08.04.08)
If it were not for cost in innocent human lives, your Hezbollah heroes antics would be an ideal cartoon strip. You get beat your own chests, flay yourselves with chains, some times of the year, get your backsides kicked, heads blown off like Mugniyeh some other times of the year, and get spat upon by the true beleivers, and run away from Israel all the year around... Tragedy ? Comedy ? Depends on whether you have Mullah logic in your head or not...
25. TERRY.......................................#12
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (08.04.08)
You may choose to deffer with my views, nevertheless,I believe that you are shifting the failures of the Armed Forces on to the politicians. It is fine by me,no doubt.I have no wishful thinking as you suggest but like to have and express my own views on matters I follow with interest as well. You are predicting the next war as being destructive for Lebanon, aren't you?Do you realise the cost of that destruction?Surely, you believe that the raids will be massive and everything will be destroyed.Ok,here again,I feel that in order to get that result,Israel would have to pay a very very heavy price should it go ahead with such air-raids.You may start wondering what could happen.I don't need to write..............you have probably guessed it already.Hizbullah's have so far refrained from using their advanced weapons, haven't they?
26. WELL TRIED,ARIE........................#23
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (08.04.08)
That excuse were tried as out of frustration the only way to retaliate was to inflict civilian casualties.History will not be eradicated by people like yourself. You very well know that Hizbullah's have taught you a good lesson in the 33 day encounter without still having made use of weapons that were at their disposal..Supposed Allah? Are you sure of Allah is supposedly there? How about yourself? You may soon taste your own recepie and definitely, then, change your mind.
27. 13# They'll screw up like Iraq....and all the support
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (08.04.08)
will be dropped from the air in a big supportive bombing campaign. If they get to stupid.....the support will vanish like a magic trick.
28. You are dreaming #25-26 LOL, ROTF!!
Mic ,   Yehuda   (08.05.08)
Israel could and will vaporize everyone surrounding her. She has been fighting with one finger. You are mistaking restraint for capability. The only hidden weapons you turkeys have is some 4 inch rockets made from ripped off road signs probably from Israel. The hidden weapons we have make your soviet junk look like your phony slingshot against the army baloney. Don't forget who has won every real war between one billion chickens and the few million Israelis. Next time we will shrink your weenies so small you will need a magnifying glass to find them. Have a nice day. Mic, From The Restored Tibet of The Middle East.
29. Hizbullah becomes dangerous more than before .
Elie ,   NRW   (08.05.08)
It is too difficult to imagine how Hizbullah becomes actually a horrible fact on the peace process in the Middle East . We should recognize that bitter truth and deal with it as a danger behind our doors .
