Ricardo Macher ,   KarneiShomron Israel   (08.05.08)
This is the country our moron Prime Minister is trying to talk to? What about Livni's big achievement of halt fire decision by the UN, is this how it works? Why don't we have the guts to tell them that the Saba Farms are our and no discussion, that the Golan will never again be in arab hands and that next time no UN intervention will be accepted for being 100% ineffective? Please! Why should we feel defeated even before starting to do something? Don't we believe in ourselves any more? What a government we've got!!!!
2. Lebanon Has Every Right To Protect Its Sovereignty
Jake ,   NY, USA   (08.05.08)
from the violations of the zionists. That includes an inalienable right to protect its airspace from intrusion by enemy foreign entities. It is only a matter of time till the double standards and hypocrisies of zionism crumbles.
3. They Have Every Reason NOT To Be Deterred
Adina Kutnicki ,   Israel, new oleh   (08.05.08)
In years gone by the enemy could be deterred from his genocidal plans. Currently they have NO reason to fear Israel's bellowing. The current leaders are corrupt, toothless and have compassion for the enemy. They are in effect whisting past the graveyard.
4. Israel's terminal strategical stupidity
Alexander ,   Herzliya, ISRAEL   (08.05.08)
Whenever and wherever the UN deploys its troops, it keeps Israeli troops out and letting shipment of arms and weapons to Arab terrorist organizations in. The UN wasn't able to keep the peace in the Sinai decades ago, and the UN has not fulfilled its mission in Lebanon. Not only did the UN fail to keep the terrorists out of business - the weapons arsenal has grown larger than the pre war quantity. It is mind boggling that a tiny and exposed nation such as Israel entrusts its security to a deeply hostile UN that lacks will and resources to intervene and stop shipments of weapons to Hizbollah. It is also mind boggling that a tiny nation such as Israel which is exposed and vulnerable on the northern borders, allows the enemy to rearm itself - without any Israeli intervention! It is also mind boggling that the path of national self destruction and the doctrine of surrender of Peres and Rabin of the 1990s, is still pursued today when it is blatantly clear to most people in Israel, that this policy of the 1990s was not only counter productive, but explicitly dangerous to our existence. What is the purpose of peace in the first place if not being granted by others and through your own efforts, to exercise unlimited freedom to defend and uphold your life, existence, citizenship rights, human rights, natural rights and national rights, within secure and defensible borders with an overwhelming majority of your own people on your own soil, with freedom and liberty to trade, work, study and live safely inside the borders, without any thoughts of dangers and threats to your nation's survival? Yet, the very prerequisite for peace was traded away for the empty acceptance of the PLO thugs of the 1990s and Israel basically surrendered its own freedom, liberty, rights, pride and dignity in order to become a slave or servant under the will of hostile regimes and terror organizations. Israel seems to pursue the exact same policy today. This has to be called terminal stupidity - a term I borrowed from Martin Sherman. What is the purpose of pursuing peace when your freedom and liberty are attacked? Israel has withdrawn from Gaza. Result: thousands of rockets have been launched by Hamas against Sderot and Western Negev. Israel has withdrawn from the security zone in souther Lebanon. Result: Hizbollah was given more maneuverability to strike at Israel, which was blatantly clear in 2006. Israeli withdrawal is always followed by Arab aggression and emboldened Arab plans to wipe us out. It's time Israel turned the tables 180 degrees and place the Arabs in the danger zone.

Larry G. ,   Hamilton, Canada   (08.05.08)
Graduations, you're the latest victim of terrorist propaganda! Hizbullah's excuse for rearming is to protect Lebanon, there's just one little problem with that--they don't act on the behalf of the Lebanese people, they act on the behalf of their paymaster--the Iranians! Hizbullah is a separate entity from the Lebanese national armed forces, it's a private army which ironically has better and more modernized weaponry than the Lebanese army. Hizbullah isn't a political party who has its interests at heart for the average Lebanese citizen; it's almost a separate colony! They have a political wing to promote their religious ideology which is to first take over Lebanon and impose an Iranian based Shiite theological Islamic state. It's second stage is to invade Israel and kill all the Jews! Hizbullah also has its own social services such as medical clinics, schools and financial assistance which runs completely separate of the Lebanese state run services. And finally unlike other Lebanese political parties, Hizbullah doesn't just have its own military wing--it has its own standing army! There is absolutely no need for Hizbullah to exist for the Lebanese people at large! That's where propaganda comes in, to justify its existence! Hizbullah says it's there to protect the Lebanese people--it couldn't give a damn about the Lebanese people! It's there to take over Lebanon and then to destroy Israel! So Jake I congratulate you on being a Hizbullah patsy, believing that it exists to protect Lebanon from the evil and sinister Jews!
7. "Israeli rule of "IRON"
Moshe Israel ,   k.yuval   (08.05.08)
Perhaps you have lost sight of the "Israeli rule of "IRON" that exists in the Middle East. Israel rightly (or wrongly ) feels itself threatened by a gang of terrorists, syria , and iran. Israel will rain down IRON on all those who threaten. Perhaps the Israel's enemy also feels threaened . The difference is simple: Israelis feel threats to Israel existence...whereas the enemy has not been pushed into a corner .If the enemy will stop the threats... fine... some day there will be a chance for peace. moshe

Francisco Scaramanga ,   Hainan Island-China   (08.05.08)
Be serious, Lebanon has no sovereignity whatsoever. the whole country is taken hostage of a Shia terrorist gang called Hezbollah, who is in fact a Iranian 5th column, or rather a Iranian SS division. Hezbollah hand has to be cutt off. Period. Israel rather speaking should begin the pysical liquidation of teh whole Hezbollah appartus. No peace, no truce to terrorists.
9. Once there was deterence
Yisraeli   (08.06.08)
Frankly it doesnt matter what Israel may say or not say to its enemies. The fact that all her enemies are arming themselves to the teeth is actually Israels fault. Why? Simply because Israel has allowed this to happen. Israel has lost its direction and its ability to deter her enemies due to the worst possible leadership any country could have when surrounded by these vultures and barbarians. A proper leader of Israel would not go about seeking military hardware answer to every perceived threat. Like a missile to bring another missile down. Like all sorts of technology only to attempt to neutralise the enemies hardware. Its all very costly and in the end wasteful. A true leader when perceiving an enemies threat to her existance chooses at his given time to destroy and utterly vanquish ones enemy. The purpose of this is not just to neutralise theyre hardware or manpower but to deter them from ever seeking to rise up and make war. IE, making war on Israel is superfulous as Israel will simply destroy not only all their hardware, but their manpower and infrastucture thereby nullifying the desire of enemies to make war upon her. In such scenarios an enemy when not only vanquished but at the mercy of its opponent will sue for peace. War does work if conducted correctly and without trying to sterelitic or be politically correct with proportionate response. All we now need a true leader.........fat chance! Nevertheless I believe the time will come when we have taken some massive hits and the people will no longer tolerate the kind of leaders and politicians we have today. And should we survive this onslaught with Gods help, these perfidious politicians face a peoples court with possible death sentences for accountability of their treachary, probably then we will have true leaders. Then we will have whats called deterence.

Sunny Johnny   (08.05.08)
"Israel would not accept the establishment of an advanced anti-aircraft system in Lebanon; should it be set up, Israel will not hesitate to act against it." LOOOL,what delusion does Israel have that makes it think the whole universe revolves around what it wants and what it doesnt want? Israel doesnt want their planes shot down, dont fly over Lebanon..simple really. You dont want rockets raining on Israel, withdraw from occupied land and leave your neighbours alone. Its none of Israel's bussiness if there are a million anti aircraft batteries deployed in Lebanon, dont fly over, then they are useless aint they? Short of nuking Lebanon(which Israel wont because of the fallout),theres no getting rid of Hezbollah, learn to live with that fact, and things will slowly start getting back to normal..There WILL BE NO greater Israel from the nile to the euphrates.

Robert ,   New Jersey, USA   (08.05.08)
Hey Jake, a question: what about the 'foreign entities' known as Qassams entering Israeli airspace from southern Lebanon? First things first! Lebanon asserts its own sovereignty over Hezbollah, ending the terrorists' lobbing of missiles across the Israeli frontier from protected sanctuary Lebanon affords it. Then Israel will not have to disarm antiaircraft installments designed to protect the terrorists' weapons. Even a moron like you can connect these dots!
17. BEN YISHAI EMPTY THREATS
ALEXI   (08.05.08)
What is israel going to do about it? To knock out hezbollah's antiaircraft systems, which will involve iranian or iranian- trained technicians operating the russian tor system that will shoot down approaching missiles or airplanes within israel, Barak may plan to knock out these systems with ground and cruise missiles but hezbollah may launch 4-500 missiles targetiing ships, oil refineries and chemical plants in haifa and other areas and the dimona nuclear plant. Barak will therefore not to do anything until israel is ready with shelters and school shelters, chemical and biological masks for every israeli. Also, until anti- rocket systems are ready, idf should array thousands of israeli missiles to fire into lebanese shiite and hezbollah towns. Shiite mothers have to cry as well to get the attention of hezbollah party of god officials to apply the brakes on their ambitions. Barak, listen, how did Saddam stop the ayatollah khomeini? He threw scuds with chemicals and stopped the most radical hardened shiite khomeiini Take the bloody gloves off. You don't want to, then resign and let some other general take the reins. A balance of terror must be achieved. Right now, the balance of terror is only on one side agianst israel. Stop acting like the jew entering the gas chamber. As peirre trudeau, if you are going down, go with a bang and not with a patheric wimper which you have been displaying since yoy advised rabin during the oslo days. Wake up!.

19. #2 It is not Lebanon...
Soeren ,   Cologne/Germany   (08.05.08)
... defending its sovereignty but we are talking about Hisbollah – a state-independant extremist terrorist organization, totally controlled and financed by Iran. So first of all Iran is violating Lebanese sovereignty...!! In fact, Hisbollah's activities exactly result in UNDERMINING the Lebanese sovereignty – as does Syria which has always its fingers in Lebanon. A state-controlled Lebanese army could acquire advanced weaponry – but a "private" militia like Hisbollah should not. The more as the state of Lebanon is denying any responsiblity for the actions of Hisbollah – but is complaining when Israel sends the bill... So the main problem is that the Lebanese multi-culti state is too weak for building up an EFFECTIVE centralized control over its entire territory – and instead surrenders to militias... Don't forget: When you own a dangerous dog it's up to you to handle that animal so it does not endanger your neighbors – when you fail others will have to neutralize it.

Our salvation will be only if NATO will accept us as full partners or if our generals will accept to be judged in Holland after annihilating our enemies.
21. # 2 jake
hans ,   stuttgart germany   (08.05.08)
Lebanon Has Every Right To Protect Its Sovereignty , as well as germany. get your troops out of germany. ww 2 is over.
22. #2 Jake - So does Israel.
Tahl ,   Israel   (08.05.08)
Lebanon sees itself an enemy of Israel. From within Lebanon, many katyushas were fired on Israel, Hizbollah snipers shot Israeli soldiers, terrorists infiltrated and murdered Israelis, IDF soldiers were abducted from the Israeli side of the border. All this prior to the last war, and AFTER the Israeli withdrawal from Southern Lebanon - with no provocation at all! Therefore, Israel has every right to do whatever it takes, to disrupt and hamper Lebanon's war efforts. If Lebanon wants to protect their sovereignty, let them first get rid of Hizbollah, who hijacked all of Lebanon for their interest - and then make peace with Israel. I can guarentee you - just as Israel doesn't do recon flights over Egypt and Jordan, we wouldn't do so over Lebanon, if they choose peace.
23. Adina #3, welcome!

I've been following you here for quite some time, and I like the articulate fashion in which you always convey your important opinions. Good to see you've decided to make aliyah. You would make a good asset for this country. I hope you find happiness and fulfillment here!
24. To Jake in NY, USA
Alexander ,   Herzliya, ISRAEL   (08.05.08)
As an Israeli and as a Zionist, my message is: are you smoking weed or what's wrong with you, you biased anti-Semite? What double standards are you refering to and what Lebanese sovereignty are you refering to? Hizbollah is an Iranian proxy in Lebanon and what territory of Lebanon does Israel currently hold? None, because Sheba Farms belongs to Syria - something Syria denies and uses a pretext to continue the conflict with Israel, which is necessary for the Syrian dictator if he wants to stay in power and divert attention from his despotic and unjust government.
25. #4 Alexander, Herzliya, Israel.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (08.05.08)
I'll add two points to your excellent comment. The first is that Olmert's failed war has ushered in a new era of insecurity. This is what happens when a war is mismanaged & accomplishes none of it's aims. The second does not have to do with us directly. Does anyone think that the US intelligence agencies are unaware of this? Does anyone think that the intelligence agencies of Germany, France, & England are unaware of these developments? Ms Rice has been here several times. The leaders of Germany, France, & England all came here & made speeches about being our friends, of caring for our security, blah, blah, blah. We can sort of ignore the European's true lack of concern - aside from the pretty speeches, we don't expect much from them anyway. But we cannot ignore a seeming change in America's attitude towards our security. This is a very worrying development. We see it also in American efforts to derail any military action on our part against Iran. How can America reconcile support for the Siniora gov't. in Lebanon, Hezbollah's effecive take-over of that same gov't. & our security? I think this is a point that Mr Ben-Yishai needs to add into his analysis.
26. to #2 Jake
Tamir ,   Los Angeles   (08.05.08)
If Lebanon has every right to protect itself than so does Israel. The illegal capture and murder of two soldiers a couple of summers ago is what started the lebanon war and hezbollah's illegal re-arming against UN restrictions against it are what is causing Israel to take the necessary steps to prepare for a first strike in order to avoid heavy casualties later on. BTW your term "zionist" refers to a movement whereby jews settle in the promsied land of israel. Since we are talking about an established country of Israel then that term is both incorrect and ignorant.
27. #2, but apparently Israel has no such right
Danny   (08.06.08)
as we see responses in Gaza and Lebanon as "aggression"
28. Paranoia, Sprinkled With Hasbara
Jake ,   NY, USA   (08.06.08)
As expected from any group of armed robbers, murderers, and land thieves, paranoia rules . If the Lebanese or "Arabs" wanted to "Kill Jews", they would have done so to their own Jewish populations centuries ago. The fact is they didn't . If Hizbullah didn't have massive local support, they would have ceased to exist, particularly after a war in which the zionists murdered over 1000 innocent civilians and dropped 1.2 million cluster bombs on them. The fact is, they exist, stronger than ever. The hate filled ideology of zionism, the creepy racism inherent within, dictates war forever and ever, ironically, in the name of a "peace" that can never be achieved . The time has come for decent Jews to live their lives as the respectable, hard working people that they are, anywhere in the world, without discrimination or malice. To insist on the "right" to invade, murder, or "spirit the penniless population[s] across the border" is a recipe for destruction. Only morons will fail to see that.
29. Jake
CEK ,   USA   (08.06.08)
There no longer is a Lebanon. It is a terror state just like Iran and their slave dog Syria. Israel has every right to defend itself no matter the cost. If Lebanon wants to keep IAF planes from flying over their land they should do something about Hez. They won't, so I hope Israel destroys them and Syria and the West destroys Iran! Down with Persia, Syria, Hez and Hamas!!! C'mon Bush - BOMB IRAN NOW!
