1. Another loopy idea from Lupi?
Sheila ,   Jerusalem Israel   (08.12.08)
What about the architecture and antiquities in the area? Why there instead of in the business areas? Why is Lupi's sight set only on the stones rather than the building of Jerusalem?
2. cant wait for the opening ceremony
Simon ,   TA the free city   (08.12.08)
Cant wait for the opening ceremony. If its anything like the one they had for that new bridge. They could have women dancers dressed up in a Abayah covered from head to toe then the train will arrive late naturally with separate carriages for men and women , prhaps they could call the station Charadie-stan. Whatever next?
3. To Simoin from TA, the overpriced city
Antonio ,   Haifa   (08.12.08)
So? At least they are building something useful there, unlike the upcoming TA subway. And they don't have driving tax for the city unlike the upcoming TA tax. Surely, I disagree with Lupo's support for Arabs, but at least he is doing something for the people.
4. simon Says : no connection
hate monger ,   Jerusalem Israel   (08.12.08)
Amazing how you twist every issue into an opportunity to spew hatered for orthodox Jews. True colors come shining through.
5. shut up Simon you are so intolerant
Julia ,   Tel Aviv   (08.12.08)
so intolerant of anything that is not secular. You make me sick, and I am secular. Have some respect for people who are different from you.
6. The only and best way ...
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.12.08)
to have good , efficient and rapid public transportation is by "light railways" . Most of the great cities in the world have succesfully opted for such a solution . Better would be a true "metro" , but maybe too expensive and difficult in Jerusalem . Our eternal Capital deserves a better public transportation , nothing to do with who's today's mayor .
7. To #4 Hate Monger: Live and Let Live!
David ,   Karmel, Israel   (08.12.08)
If the Haredim would just be a little more tolerant of others the constant belligerency against them would stop! They want everything their way. No one denies them their way of life so who gave them the right to tell others how to live their lives? Hatred breeds hatred. Tolerance would breed tolerance if they gave it a chance.
8. Kiddush Hashem
Adam Eliyahu Berkowi   (08.12.08)
The first time I flew in to the new airport, I was horrified. It was too......everything. I was picking up my bags when I heard someone behind me say in Hebrew, "Very nice. We will really need all this when the mahsiach comes and all the world will want to come to Israel to pray and celebrate." I turned around and it was a young "secular" israeli. One day, god willing soon, the nations will think of israel, and especially Jerusalem, as a place for all nations to come and pray, where non-jews can appoint a holy jew to take their sacrifice in to the temple. Hey Simon, put that in your pipe and smoke it.
9. The Light Train - what a laugh!
Galilean ,   The Galilee   (08.12.08)
The country can't even build a "high speed" line from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the country has frozen the development of the railways and the rail service to Karmiel and Galilee has been delayed until who knows when! All this while the country chokes on traffic jams and the price of gasoline sky rockets. Indeed, the Dung Heap would be the ideal destination for the whole project and the first passenger should be our wanna bee PM Minister of Transport Mofaz!
10. Nothing to do with transport everything to do with landtheft
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (08.12.08)
The settlers greasy thumbprints are all over this plan; hopefully the Israeli architects organising this crime will be ostracised and held in contempt by their peers and colleagues throughout the western world.
11. To all those extremistists haters
Charles ,   Petachg Tikva   (08.12.08)
Please . be a little bit more tolerant . We all know our "friend" Simon , he dislikes [ at least ] the charidim , not for a specific action , as i do , but the whole community . I also hate many of the charidi acts , but not all the Charidim . Simon , you have to know that there are great people amongst them , working hard to help others , religious or seculars . You have to accept that in your midst there are also very bad people . Is this a reason to hate all the gays ?
12. It too will likely be late and over-budget
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (08.12.08)
Israel once was renowned for doing more with less. Suddenly it's acting "rich", spending money on the next prestige project before the last one is completed. Like the others - metros in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, Calatrava Bridge, high speed J-TA train - this latest will come in late, over-budget and delivering less than promised. Is it even the right solution? Some inevitably are getting rich over these boondoggles. With a corrupt, politicized government, one should not be surprised. These projects are becoming worthy subjects for "worst practices" studies.
13. Don`t do it
Nora ,   Tel Aviv   (08.12.08)
Why not opt for a light train stopping right along the Wailing Wall ? Tourists can get out of the train, make two steps, put that pre-written paper between the stones, come back to an already departing train and say..."Gosh, we`we made it in 30 seconds" . DON`T DO THAT`!!!
14. #11 Charles- i beg to differ
Simon ,   TA the free city   (08.13.08)
Although i think we agree on most issues i also respect your opinion. The ultra orthodox declared war on us and will every breath in my body we will give them war. They never miss an opportunity to force their life style on others, threaten us with hatred and violence, yet they contribute nothing to the state and bite the hand that feeds them. i will support the destruction of their values and all that is important to them on every front. War it is !
