1. They need to speak to Children's Hosp. SF,Ca
David ,   Tsfat   (08.18.08)
on how to keep the premature babies alive. There are simple but effective methods based on data collected at Stanford. and UCSF . Tactile issues,(as opposed to isolationism),biorhythms, auditory and visual relaxation etc, etc, etc. The preemie survival rate there has quadrupled in the last thirty years

90's in the states. What a blessing this baby is. I hope she survives.

With all due respect to UCSF, this is not a situation of not knowing how to take care of premies - many institutions do a fine job. This is more about accepting that we do not fully understand the limits of viability in extremely premature newborns. By most accounts, a 23 week fetus is not viable. This case indicates that might not be true. I personally have taken care of 24 week fetuses that have done well, one ini fact that needed almost no medical intervention. These situations should give pause to those who think nothing of aborting a second trimester fetus.

who ever was on duty at the time should be fired immediately. this is not a miarcle but total negligence of the staff on duty. I hope that if the baby survives he/she will be normal.
8. For the baby to catch up with its lungs and other organs not

fully developed, I suggest the mother stand next to the baby in surgical garb all day long until the baby is released from the hospital. The mother should pray for the baby's full recovery continually. No chairs are allowed in neo-natal intensive care units, but the mother can stand next to the baby with the baby holding her finger. Baby will know the mother is nearby and that will be a comfort and is very healing. I am amazed at how 999 out of a 1000 mothers of premature infants do not do that. The one mother I saw with such devotion was a teenage mother at Madera Children's Hospital in California a few years ago. Sandra Ascevedo's son Geraldo went home a month earlier than expected, healed of a catastrophic stroke at birth that caused him to stop moving in his mother's uterus. He was born by emergency C-section two hours after he stopped moving. He has suffered no seizures or mental retardation. Here was a little mother showing the experts a thing or two. I felt the presence of a guardian angel near that baby. How sad for the other babies whose mothers abandoned them except to look at them now and then until they were discharged.
9. agree with #7

I don't believe that it isn't doctors fault. With the lack of doctors in this country whatever doctors we have are too tired to do their job or, worse, don't care about patients who are not registered in their private clinics! I bet if you pay enough, they find the pulse!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10. preemies in critical conditions need to be COOLED
as some research ,   indicates   (08.19.08)
There are previously recorded incidents all over the world that preemies were saved by cooling them down. It is not clear cut but is a possibility we should remember, maybe the system is wrong!
