Russia has always been supporting Israel's enemies - even after the "end" of the Cold war and the Glaznost! So I hope nobody has any ilusions about that! Russians have been selling weapons to suport their failed Communist economy, and has been using its Oil resources to control prices - just as any monopuly does. Russians have been supplying Iran with Nuclear technology and Nuclear material, and the resot of the Arab world with cheap weapons, trying to become again the major supplier in the region. They have sold Syria AA equipment knwing well that it will find its way into Hezbollah hands - despite Israel's pleas.
