The fact that they are draft dodgers is wrong. My own kids serve in the IDF and I fought in Israel's wars. But the fact that they are doing something wrong doesn't mean the point they are trying to make is wrong too. Israel's army is an occupying army since 1967, you can deny it and ignore it and scream "leftist" and "anti-semitism" all you want, but facts on the ground are facts: millions of Arabs live under military rule with no rights whatsoever. The fact that our neighbors may be barbarians doesn't mean we should be too - our neighbors also don't believe in democracy, maybe we should abolish democracy in Israel in order to fight them more effectively? After all you people seem happy enough to abolish human rights and our most basic principles of respect for human life.

I served for 3 years in the IDF, and would do it all over again. While serving, I never heard hate of the Arabs, but I was taught to defend our homeland. During my combat service, I even saved the life of a Palestinian child who was hit by rocks that were meant for me. I ran and jumped on her to protect her and the rocks kept coming. Although the IDF won the last war in Lebanon without question, we were held back so not to hurt "innocent civilians" and the enemy views this as though they won the war "that they started". My prayers are that there not be a next time, however if there is, we should not hold back anything. The IDF travels the world to help many countries after natural disasters. Where is all of this talk of hate from the IDF. I only see the IDF as a role model of what military should be.

Obviously these refuseniks are uneducated in the facts of life. I wonder whether any of these idiots realise where they, their friends, family and fellow refuseniks would be today if everyone believed as they do. And the answer is not in military detention for 6 or 21 days.
