The people of Syria wants no war whatsoever, in fact we are so fed up hearing when the war will come, what weapons will be used etc etc. People on the Israeli side, rise against this talk....only people can make peace....no one else.....a war means large destruction on both sides, we dont want that, you dont want that.....beside the people of Syria has nothing against Israel....but we at the same time dont just know how to approach the Israeli. When I was abroad, I meet some Israeli people and I personally remember one person that become a great friend of mine, even though I had a lot of arab friends and he had Israeli friends, we decided to share flat (worked in the same company abroad). When his and my friends heard of us sharing a place they got pissed off, but we decided to ignore. Me and him had some heated discussion regarding politics, but always settled it with a laugh at the end of the day....for me I learnt a lot about Israel from him (my only information abt Israel by the way), and just realized how much things we have in common. Sami, you're right about saying peace depends on the people's mindset. I have no hatred towards the arab or persian civilians. it's jsut some of their governments that should be replaced. All governments should be above religion and treat everyone equal, not to mention peace should one of the main principles. I lie in a country where jews and arabs lived in peace and cooperation for 4 centuries untill the christians conquered it in the 12th century. Sefarad or Al-Andaluz was a land of prosperity. I hope the same will happen to Israel, Syria, Lebannon and other neighbouring countries. Some day....but the faster, the better. Shalom / Salam

#2 Sami, Here in Israel we are girding ourselves for the next round...Israelis also would like to be able to relax and not worry about war with Syria... hamas and hizballah, both have attacked the homes of thousands of Israeli civilians ...Iran constantly threatens to ultimately destroy Israel. On the level of students and ordinary citizens Israelis are ready NOW to accomodate their Syrian counterparts... On the level of governments...Israel MUST fight for its life ...while Syria supplies arms and aid to terrorists: hamas and hizballah... Someday... we may have Peace that will allow normal relations.
