There is no excuse for the brutality being visited upon women in any part of our society, whether secular or religious. Groups of men who engage in this type of behavior are in fact, committing a "criminal conspiracy" and should be prosecuted as such. They are no different from the mobsters who shoot innocent people on the beach. Also, women should be trained in self-defense and not let themselves be victimized. Jerusalem is not Karachi, Pakistan, and the haredim have no right acting like the Taliban. Nor do they have the right to act as police, judge and jury. Every woman should be outraged at this attack or any violence being committed upon their persons. And anyone who insults Tali for expressing her views should renounce their faith as they have obviously ceased being Jewish and human beings. "Get lost" is too lenient, Tali. Sending them to jail makes more sense.

As a intellectual I see many people who are not developed to criticise me. After all I've red many books and know what I am talking about. As an actor (straggling) I met lots of famous people who tell me I have a future in acting and otherwice. I hope for the great future and fortunately many people here on this board support me. Those who are not will see their mistakes in the years to come. Even Karl Marx got to be influential after his death only so I am optimistic. Shalom.

It goes beyond the chastity squads. There are many accounts of women (including religious women) being verbally abused and assaulted on busses for refusing to sit in the back. These attacks are spontaneous, perpetrated by "regular" chareidi men. I remember press stories of women being assaulted by chareidi men while going to work at the Education Ministry in Jerusalem. Then there are the stoning of cars on shabbat in Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh. I don't care that chareidi live by their own mores and culture dictates but for too long our police have been passive in confronting Chareidi violence.

My family moved to the USA from Minsk, and Khorezm and Latvia. Every branch of my family was orthodox. I grew up in a home where toilet paper was pre-divided into usable sheets for Shabbat; where lights were not touched and money not handled on Shabbat. Where my Grandfather prayed daily shachrit mincha and maariv. Kashrut was respected and kept vigilantly. I was taught to respect G-d and the beliefs of others. I was taught not to force my religious beliefs on others but to respect our differences. Yet when we came to Israel in 1979 for my Bar-Mitzvah the story of a woman. being pelted with garbage for driving near Mea Shearim made the papers. I am saddened that after all this time. Israeli police still seem to have no ability to reign in these vigilantes. Violence against women, gays, Christians is not acceptable behaiviour and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law!

I lived with the ultra-orthodox most of my life and they're not as holy as they want to show to the world. Besides of not working, doing nothing to society and not lifting a finger to defend Eretz Yisrael they're also heavy drug users and into drug deals with Colombia, they treat their wifes and daughters like the Taliban. It's time Eretz Yisrael put them to work, they can work and study, why should we work for them? Thank G-d I'm free from those people, I'm a modern orthodox guy today, I was oppressed, abused by the ultra-orthodox for 22 years!!! Put them to work and those people give Jews and Judaism a bad name! They're drug addicts, totalitarians and criminals! Many young people would escape from that secret society if they could...I been traumatized thanks to them but thank G-d I rescued all my brothers from those oppressors!!!!

The lines are getting blurred. They must be going to the same schools, getting the same education, by the same teachers with an identical curiculum.
