You certainly heard of this idea to extend Yeroushalaim's territory to Mevasseret . Would this also make Mevasseret holy ? The old town , Ir David , Har Zion , and some other places are certainly holy , but NOT the whole of Yeroushalaim . Had they paraded there , it would be showing no respect . Had they parade in Mea Shearim , it would be a unnecessary provocation , and i would also have condemned them . And i have said this already more than once . I sympathize with the family whose picnic was spoiled but no secular residents of Jerusalem will EVEN TRY to organise a picnic in an orthodox neigborhood, of which there are more and more in the capital. They will be (known from m media) driven from there (and sometimes not only by words) for breaking dress code, "improper behavior"etc. Secular population is being driven not from parks but from the city itself. In Kfar Saba, we have a big park where all are welcome. Every evening you'll see Jews of all kinds and Arabs with thier kids. No one hassles anybody else. These people are welcome to bring all the kids to our park.

Intolerance of our own is the Israeli disease. It flows both ways. We are divided to the point of schism. We can't afford to go on like this. We need to learn to live together. I just visited Jerusalem two weeks ago and observed the huge numbers of Haredim in Gan Sacher on multiple nights, enjoying their "freedom" during what is called Bein Hazmanim - a break between yeshiva semesters. Each of the next mornings, I saw so much litter left on the ground in the park that I was appalled. Why would anyone want to let people who will not take care of their own messes make use of any beautiful places? Shame, shame on them.

Do the charidim clean up after throwing VOLUNTARELY scrap in the street ? It's also the city who has to do it . In a park there are enough trash cans [ for EVERYONE , not only charidim ] to leave your scrap
