1. 'Arab paper wrote bombastic comment about Israeli withdrawal
this is news?   (09.02.08)
Remember in the first three wars against Israel, how such media also announced that they were winning? Take Arab media with a grain of salt. The concept of free expression and journalistic integrity often alludes its authors.
2. Hezbollah will turn this into one of their victories
Zion   (09.02.08)
as result of them "winning the war" and will continue brainwashing Arabs until every Jew ends up in the sea.
3. Perhaps Nasrallah would like Haifa?
Rick ,   Southern US   (09.02.08)
Then when Israel gives him that, Israel will have really shown him. Maybe Israel should send him flowers? Israel is proof that crime pays.
4. Yes, give in to Nasrallah to put the pressure on him! Fools.
Yonatan ,   Los Angeles   (09.02.08)
5. "Israeli withdrawal from Tel Aviv anticipated.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (09.02.08)
A news report from the near future says that an Israeli withdrawal from Tel Aviv is anticipated very soon. In return for a few empty promises, a heavy dose of wishful thinking, & a total lack of common sense, Tel Aviv will be evacuated. Ships will be made available for Jewish refugees to selected destinations. An Israeli official was quoted as saying that this will "pull the rug out from under the Islamists" who have long claimed that the existence of a Jewish state in the Middle-East was unacceptable.
6. After Shabaa farms .......
Nora ,   Tel Aviv   (09.02.08)
...Kibbuts Malkiyya....after that...the nothern Mashavim...and after that....the Northern Galil..and after that ??????
7. look at what happened to lebanon's moderates
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.02.08)
they won all of the moral victories, publicly exposing nasrallah's bald aggression and lies, and where are they now? firmly under his thumb, praising and defending the shi'ite warlord. and nasrallah never even batted an eyelash the entire time. they never made it so easy for him. don't think that doing anything will "pull the rug out from under" nasrallah. and what good is a "moral victory" with a terrorist's gun pressed against your head? if there will be withdrawal, do it only for sound strategic reasons because here in the middle east a "moral victory" disappears into thin air the very moment one declares it.
8. Ever been to Ghajar?
Tomer ,   Hod Hasharon, Israel   (09.02.08)
It's Jewish population is absolutely zero, and it straddles the UN-approved border line. There is absolutely no reason for Israel to have troops north of that line. Especially as UNIFIL will be guarding it... oh... ok... that's prolly the weak point of my argument. But anyway... Ghajar is NOT the Galil, NOT Haifa, and definitely not Tel Aviv. And we don't have any reason to be in Shebaa Farms either. We're just holding on to it as a bargaining chip.
9. Only Israel! Yes, give away the Norht and than Tel Aviv.
David ,   USA   (09.02.08)
10. Yes, give the enemies what they want
Gabe ,   USA   (09.02.08)
That will guarantee peace! Where are the Jewish heads? Are they the Jewish heads buried in the Arabian sand?
11. Disgusting! Israel is losing it! When the UN
Give them all land ,   USA   (09.02.08)
and the world acknowledged the border with Lebanon Israel unilaterally is giving away the vital land to placate the terrorists. Crazy! Have the people of Israel are losing the common sense?
12. Israel's illegal Occupations only Empower Hezbollah
Johan Odin ,   Oslo, Norway   (09.02.08)
Just as Israel's illegal occupations of the West Bank and Gaza both justify and empower Hamas, Israel's illegal occupation of Lebanon does the same for Hezbollah. Perhaps Israeli leaders have finally realized that their own actions are the biggest threat to their security, but until Israel fully ends all of its occupations of occupied land beyond its recognized border, I will not believe they have the courage or ethics to do what must be done. Israel's future lies in the Negev, and only by making peace can Israel truly survive and earn itself a place in the world, so it must reign in its radical and violent illegal settlers and allow them return home to Israel where they belong,
13. UNIFIL Commander promise
yehudi ,   palestine   (09.02.08)
Only Barak can trast those promises and those "Commanders". In the same manner he was negotiating with Arafat. Thanks to Yasser, there was no trust to Barak's promises.
14. TRUST IN HASHEM? NO! BUT IN U.N. YES!
ROLAND SEENER ,   LONDON ENGLAND   (09.02.08)
15. Just look at Lebanese/UN track record on rest of border
Lemmings Hotline ,   sd usa   (09.02.08)
Hizbollah is arming itself to the teeth under the protection of international UN and Lebanese control. What recourse does Israel have if they renig. This is a relatively quiet border. If it aint broke, dont fix it.
16. Just one more withdrawal in a long list of
S Freedman ,   Jerusalem   (09.02.08)
withdrawals.'Withdrawing from Sheba Farms will pull the rug from under Nasrallah's legs',Israeli official quoted as saying. Why not withdraw to Haifa, and find out what else we can pull out from under Nasrallah's feet.
17. #12, I thought it was their rockets and guns
Danny   (09.02.08)
that "empowered" Hizbollah.
18. #8, hands up who HONESTLY believe Shebaa is the issue?
Danny   (09.02.08)
that if we pull out of Shebaa and Ghajar that Hizbollah will go "ok fine all done" and leave us alone? Really? You are amongst friends here, be honest...
19. to Johan from Norway
Rick ,   Southern USA   (09.02.08)
And what would you have done, Johan, if you were Israel? Israel has never attacked anybody. The UN gave the Jews Israel, and the Jews, after WWII really took an offer they couldn't refuse. The rest is history. When Israel took the West Bank, they offered Jordan, the Saudis, Egypt to get all occupied land back if the Israelis were accepted. The Arabs refused. Israel has been attacked from Lebanon for ages, and they maintain some benign areas for bargaining chips. What would you have done, Johan? Would you accept being attacked, win the war, then simply give the enemy everything back while the enemy doesn't accept your existence and is preparing to attack again? Would Norway have accepted that for their country? So what would you do if you were Israel, Johan, knowing fully well that any steps you take would not stop your enemies from attacking?
20. To Mr. Freedman
Rick ,   Southern USA   (09.02.08)
Exactly. Why not just give the Palestinians and Hezbollah all of the country without a peace deal? That's really show em.
21. Big mistake!
Bhaskar ,   Edmonton, Canada   (09.02.08)
Israel will get smaller and smaller and finally vanish, thanks to stupid Israeli negotiators, and it's leaders. If you are big and strong, nobody will attack you. Your muslim neighbours are not your friends!
22. Move the Arabs in Jerusalem to Ghajar and give it to them
Miriam ,   Israel   (09.02.08)
Obviously this is not a racist suggestion, because that's exactly what they want to do to Jews in the north.
23. the pople of Ghajar want to stay in Israel
bob ,   potomac and TA   (09.02.08)
the disgusting policy of having divided the town into two--the people on the "Lebanese" side wanted to be in Israel-- And now they let the whoe town go into Hizbollah hands--more vile policies by this inept govt.. ,
24. We should not give up the Golan :
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (09.02.08)
We should not give up the Golan : The Shaba Farm is part of the Golan The Golan Heights will turn into the radical spearhead against Israel. No matter what Syrian Dictator Bashar Assad promises, he is likely to be toppled by radical Moslem forces - leaving northern Israel vulnerable to the terrorists on the plateau above. Assad’s minority Alawite regime will be toppled, for the peace deal will in fact serve to precipitate his downfall and for that reason, Bashar won’t be pursuing real peace with Israel. His regime has no legitimacy in Syria as it is, particularly when it comes to the Muslim Brothers, whose power keeps growing. More about the Assad family : http://xrl.us/bjcsd
25. #8 When you give away all of your bargaining chips, what do
you have left to bar ,   gain with??   (09.02.08)
26. Flash! Israel ready to cede Ehud Barak
Jameel @ The Muqata ,   Shomron Hills   (09.02.08)
Who needs Ehud Barak here in Israel anyway -- perhaps we could pull out the rug beneath his legs?
27. Here, says Israel, take my land....please.
marlene ,   Philadelphia, USA   (09.02.08)
"Pull t he rug from under Nasrallah's legs"??? ABSURD! Israel is very novel in its EXCUDES to give away its land, its security, its borders. Why? Because "REASON" has nothing to do with it. SHAME ON YOU!
28. surrender withdrawal
alexi   (09.02.08)
UN gurantees are worthless. Hezbolah would move right in.If barak does this, he is once more stabbing israel in the back as he did with lebanon and camp david. Lots of israelis died because of barak, directly because of him. Finally, Israelis rejected the olmert government including barak so he has no mandate to do this.
29. next
Observer ,   Melbourne   (09.02.08)
Next will be the 7 ex.Shiite villages that were originally Lebanese before 1923 & were annexed to Palestine at that time in an agreement between France & Britain. The villagers who lived in those villages are residing in Beirut & they were given the Lebanese citizenship. Many of those villagers have poof of ownership to the land in those villages.
30. Cash was moved to Barak account?
Jorge ,   New York   (09.02.08)
I believe that Barak received cash for the deal. Remember how he got money from Clinton (Mark Rich) for his house when he promissed Clinton Nobel Prize and arabs 98% of the West Bank
