1. Barak is right.
DkS ,   J'lem, IL   (09.03.08)
We shouldn't continue to hold on to every single square centimetre of territory within Jerusalem's current boundaries. All those Arab neighbourhoods in the city were never part of J'lem; we Israelis are the ones who decided to make them part of the city after '67! And now we are stuck with them. Most of J'lems population is already not Zionist, in a few years most won't be Jewish either. But of course, J'lem will always be the 'undivided' capital of our Jewish/Zionist state. Rubbish! Wake up people. What will happen is so obvious a little child can understand it. Split the city, keep what is important to Israel, and hand over the rest. We don't need it. Redraw the municipal boundary, and try to turn Jewish J'lem into a city that's not only attractive to the Haredim who ru(i)n this place. Maybe that will save our capital. Continuing like this means the death of this city! Our aim of any peace agreement should be to ensure a lasting Jewish majority within Israel, which means our borders should mainly be based on demographics, not on arbitrary ceasefire lines from 1967. Land swaps need to be considered.
2. Barak's True Colors
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (09.03.08)
Dear People, Listen carefully to what he is saying. Do you also hear the sounds of defeat and capitulation like I do? Mr. Barak will destroy Israel, if given the chance. Watch out for him.
3. RETARDED!!!!!! And have the rockets fired from Jerusalem
Miriam ,   Israel   (09.03.08)
into the heart of Jerusalem??? This anti-Israel government is nothing but RETARDED and GETTING MORE RETARDED BY THE DAY. GET RID OF BARAK NOW before Jerusalem will become Sderot #2 and even worse, G-d forbid!
4. The Leftists are wrong
Brod ,   USA   (09.03.08)
Jerusalem is the eternal, indisivible Capital-City of Israel since ancient time. Those who are thinking and planning to give part of it to the Islamist-Jihadist ravenous wolves are treasonous. Israel should defend every inch of its GOD-given/restored historic homeland. The Leftists have NO right playing God on Israel. If they think they can attain peace with the Islamist-Jihadists by giving more land or not, they are living in fantasyland. The fact is the goal of the Islamist-Jihadists is the destruction of Israel by usurping the whole of historic Israel for themselves. It is time the Leftist dreamers stop dreaming of utopia with the Islamist-Jihadist world. It is their ignorance and naivete' that is destroying Israel from within. It is time the Opposition Rightwingers counter the detrimental move of the Leftists. Israel should be focusing its eyes on Iran instead of imbibing the craps of Islamist-Jihadism. The Opposition should stand up and say to Hell with these Leftist appeasers, Islamist-JIhadist usurpers and their manipulated stooges as Rice, Blair and Bush! The latter trio are lame ducks who have been brainwashed by the dark forces to do their dirty work on Israel.
5. #1. Your theory fails on the point about Haredim
Jake   (09.03.08)
and the fact that "they are not Zionist". If that bothers you, perhaps you would favor giving up Haredim neighborhoods, in addition to the Arab neighborhoods. Face it, sovereignty in Jerusalem cannot be divided, not in theory and not in practice. Policing would be impossible, division of resources and services would be impossible. The northern and eastern areas of Jerusalem are already a patchwork quilt of Jewish and Arab neighborhoods. What are you going do, evict those Jews from their homes? You and whose army? Do the words 'CIVIL WAR' mean anything to you? And what about those East Jerusalem Arabs, who are plugged into the Israeli system and have no desire to be part of the Palestinian Authority. Sure, they loudly proclaim that they are Palestinians, but they are Israeli citizens in all but name. Your plan is as non-sensical as partitioning Tel Aviv-Yafo into Jewish Tel Aviv and Arab Jaffa. Perhaps you should go there and champion that cause, as it is a more workable one than the division of Jerusalem.
6. Barak is a Traitor to Jews and Israelis
AlbertoGa ,   St.George UT, USA   (09.03.08)
The man is giving things that belong to Israel as a State and as a gift of G-D How sad to see this guy turning into a Traitor
7. Barak is a crook
Doron ,   TA, MafiaCity   (09.03.08)
and a crank
8. God will decide, not Barak
(09.03.08)
God is sending the Angel Gabriel to Mount Moriah. He will tell every mortal that Jerusalem is the eternal city of the Jews and will never be divided. When ALL religions accept the truth, ALL will then be able to worship there in peace.
9. AJ - the right place for the enemies of the State
Disgusted ,   eu   (09.03.08)
I wonder on which more islamic payroll are working 2 Ehuds cabinet members.
10. It'd be easier for a camel to pass thru the eye of a needle
Jake   (09.03.08)
than for Israel to relinquish sovereignty over any part of Jerusalem.
11. What's that sound I hear?
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.03.08)
It must be the end of Labor. Barak you may not even make the next Knesset with any luck.
12. Was Barak the one who tried to GIVE AWAY 98% of the West
Elka ,   Aminadav   (09.03.08)
Bank with only about 2 weeks left in office? What a scoundrel! He failed in the FIRST Lebanon war. He Failed while leading us out of Lebanon by showing his fear of the enemy by running away. Who needs him? Livni is no better but this one needs to be THROWN OUT.
13. Barak, how about giving your fancy house for Arabs' embassy?
Miriam ,   Israel   (09.03.08)
14. Offering Them A State Is A MISTAKE!
MK ,   Philadelphia USA   (09.03.08)
They have no right to a state and have done everything in their power to show that they can never be trusted with a state. What more do people need to see? The best they should get is Gaza. Nothing else. Those in the west bank will either have to go to Gaza or Jordan or one of their other arab brothers. And if they can't behave themselves in Gaza (as they have been showing, already) then they will have to be flushed into Sinai. There is no other solution. Giving them TWO separate states (which is what will become of Gaza and the West Bank) is absolutely insane. Just the offer of appeasement whets their appetites and keeps the violence going.
15.  #3 Brauner
Sagi ,   Israel   (09.03.08)
The only ones capable of destroying Israel are those belonging to the black hat brigades. They are already doing a good job of it. In Jerusalem the process is well under way and has already spread to Bet Shemesh an it will spread further until our downfall.
16. Barak & Israel's leaders give away Jerusalem.
marlene ,   Philadelphia, USA   (09.04.08)
DId they fight for it? Did they have sons who died for it? Did they have a covenant with G-d? NO, NO, NO. SHAME ON YOU ISRAEL! For being weak - not fighting back. For being stupid - pretending that's all these arab muslim occupiers want, - as though this is not just another step is taking ALL OF ISRAEL! Duh - they told you so, over and over and over. Why doesn't any of your leaders understand your enemies like Netanyahu understands them?
17. Jerusalem east as Palestinian capital: a basis for disaster
joe ,   Canada   (09.03.08)
It is one thing to make reasonable concessions to reach a peace agreement, it is an other thing to sell out the future on a grand scale. Jerusalem was never the capital of a non existant palestinian state even in the distant past. To institutionalize it as a Palestinian capital will only reinforce the already strong belief in the Moslem world that Palestinians have an absolute right to all of Israel & that force in the future will settle the matter in their favour. It should also be remembered that such a tragic concession if implemented would only get in return an unstable & false temporary peace with an opponent that is not only internally divided but subject to the external pressures of the extreme Islamists.
18. last Sentence Says It All
emanon ,   USA   (09.03.08)
19. the right wingers are wrong!!!
alef ,   israel   (09.03.08)
You guys talk about the everlasting thousands of years old Jerusalem remaining undivided. And I agree with you! But the borders of Jerusalem today have nothing to do with the true Jerusalem that existed thousands of years ago. The municipal borders were enlargened in 1967 when we acquired the territory. Lets say the next Mayor of Jerusalem has authority to make Maale Adumim apart of Jerusalem. Does that then make Maale Adumim apart of the undivided Jewish capital of Jerusalem? Just because the Mayor enlargened the borders? If your answer is yes, then why not make the whole borders of the State of Israel apart of Jerusalem? Then we can be the State of Jerusalem and say we cant give any land back because we need Jerusalem united!!! Come on righties, I love you guys but get your heads on your shoulders. We dont need some broken down dysfunctional Arab villages apart of Jerusalem.
20. Get Barak out !! He loves the spotlight not Israel
Andrew ,   Miami,FL   (09.03.08)
21. They also used to divide Berlin, did that work?! (end)
Stef ,   Belgium   (09.03.08)
22. #15 sagi
Jayy ,   Israel   (09.04.08)
If you hate the jewish religious so much why are you living in Israel.......go move to Gazza you disgusting traitor. It isnt the religious that is destroying Israel....i donr hear them calling to give land away.....its the moronic leftists like you that are destroying this country!
23. barak was a oward when he was p.m.
jason white ,   afula,israel   (09.04.08)
and he is a coward today. Expel the arabs from Jerusalem. No Jews in mecca and no arabs in Jerusalem!
24. If I forget thee O Jerusalem, Israel is totally lost.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (09.04.08)
25. OLMERT & CO. DO NOT HAVE THE LAST LAUGH. .G'D OF ISRAEL DOES
ISRAEL PUNISHMENT ,   ..............DACON9   (09.04.08)
FOR TURNING FROM G'D YEAH YEAH YOU CALL ME A FUNDAMENTALIST I DONT WEAR A BLACK HAT I JUST BELIEVE IN G'DS WORDS
26. For starters
Great White North ,   Canada   (09.04.08)
Muslims Palestinians got a free state: Gaza. Thats it, thats your state, Gaza City the Capital. You can live there in peace, or keep up your violence and you'll lose it. As for WB you can live there in peace as Gazans or Jordanians. Keep up your violence and you lose that too.
27. When you collect welfare
Great White North ,   Canada   (09.04.08)
When you sponge off the system and don't work - throwing stones is like fishing, passes the time
28. If at first you don't succeed try try again
Danny   (09.04.08)
So Barak's two brilliant ideas are to secede Ghajar because that will "pull the carpet from under Nasrallah" just like withdrawing from South Lebanon did and giving up East Jerusalem because offering most of the West Bank worked so well in 2000.... Genius.
29. #22 That's a red herring
Aharon   (09.04.08)
You are a coward because instead of responding to Sagi you attempt to portray him as some religious hater. If Sagi wanted to criticize religious people, he would have used the word RELIGIOUS. He SPECIFICALLY criticizes Haredim -- I have been here long enough to know he has nothing against religion in itself. Like me, Sagi is opposed to the Haredim because of the way they behave (namely, avoiding their military service, 80% unemployment, anti-Zionist political persuasions, high use of state funds with little contribution to the economy, etc). I would just as much criticize these people if they were seculars or purple martians - it has nothing to do with what they ARE, it has to do with what they are DOING. So you can take your disgusting and fallacious insults elsewhere. Maybe to Gaza.
30. Jerusalem is ALREADY divided
Chaim   (09.04.08)
If 5% of the Jewish population of Israel have EVER been to an Arab neighborhood (on purpose), you can call me Yusuf. Jerusalem is a divided city, and under our sovereignty East Jerusalem Arabs have the freedom to go anywhere inside Israel. That is a far greater security risk than making the division official and handing East Jerusalem over to the Arabs.
