4. Did he post an ad on Janglo?
bob the oleh ,   jerusalem, israel   (10.19.08)
Often time I see "Mitzavh's" needed on the Janglo site for people to transport their luggage for them through the air. I wonder if the gullible rabbi responded to a Janglo posing to make a few bucks and do a huge mitzvah??

Kim ,   Israel   (10.19.08)
They are a lower life form. They have a selective understanding of Judaism - and cut out the parts they they don't like or can't earn money from. Forever the disgusting.

13. What drugs....?
Dani ,   Israel   (10.20.08)
Did it mention once in this awful article what drugs exactly were being smuggled? Maybe I missed it but this is appaling. Beleive whomever you want, these umemployed, non serving IDF leeches should be punished to the fullest extent.
14. Re;#3 needy family in the US
Bartley Kulp ,   Safed, Israel   (10.20.08)
The man said that he was a clothing manufacturer so it is safe to assume that he was not sending shmatas. The whole thing is confusing though. Even amaturish for the amount of blow he was trying to send. Anybody carrying four suitcases(excluding his own) will be held up for a customs inspection. perhaps he thought that they would not suspect a rabbi? If he is Hassidic in appearance he will be checked by New York customs authorities. This is because Chassidim in the past have been caught smuggling things like extacy, not to mention undeclared currency. In any rate even if official does trust the rabbi he will be compelled to request for him to open the bags upon declaring that four of the suitcases are not his. Another red flag is depending on the weight of the boxes it might be cheaper to just ship them. Each bag would cost at least $200 a piece on the airlines. I hope that everything works out well for the rabbi. This person who set him up is most likely Jewish or he would not be able to properly speak to him. The man needs to be hunted down and thrown in an Istanbul prison.
15. Re;#8 The security check.
Bartley Kulp ,   Safed, Israel   (10.20.08)
This is a great question. Especially if he took on the bags in Istambul. The airport their has more security checks than I have ever seen in my life.
16. Re;#13 - Dani, You said beleive whom ever you want.
Bartley Kulp ,   Safed, Israel   (10.20.08)
Well let us start with the French authorities who have all of the relevant facts in this case. They seem to be weighing that he is innocent, otherwise they would not have aloud him to leave the country.
17. Only the dumbest of the goyim
Gene ,   Raleigh USA   (10.20.08)
will believe this tellng...
18. Drug dealer
Mannstein ,   USA   (10.21.08)
How could they do such a thing to a holocaust survivor.
19. Rabbi wanted to join mile "High" club
larry ,   zefat israel   (10.21.08)
20. Stupid goes clear to the bone
Gideon Reader   (10.21.08)
Hey Hassidic Leader,..Not too bright. What if it was 20 kilos of Semtex, or other ka-BOOM-able product, instead of dope? The "good hearted" Reb has a crying need to enter the real world and engage his responsiblities towards his fellow traveling humans; Jewish and otherwise. This particular "Hassidic Leader" owes it to his followers not to be so blatant a moron. One wonders how he can even perform certain "personal" duties without help? A mind boggling Baal.
21. Another Drug Dealer Hiding Behind His Religion
World Citizen ,   the world   (10.21.08)
How many of these Hasids do they have to catch before you Israelis realize that a lot of drug dealers base their operations out of Israel because it is a safe haven from prosecution? This is what the third or fourth story like this we have seen in the last two or three years?
22. Naive?
Alan Heath ,   Warszawa, Poland   (10.22.08)
If innocent then he must be very naive. It could have contained something even more deadly. The answer to this one is to declare goods being carried for other people both before leaving and entering a country. That way if it contains anything the declarer is not responsible.
23. strong
Alan Heath ,   Warszawa, Poland   (10.22.08)
Come to think of it he must be pretty strong. Carrying four suitcases for someone else. Plus their own stuff. Given the huge cost of extra luggage too, surely it would have better to have sent cash to the 'needy' family. Ths is not really adding up...
24. I smell Anti-Semitism. G_D bless this Jew.
Horst Wessel ,   USA   (10.22.08)
I believe his story. This is a clear case of Anti-Semitism.
25. Call me naive but I believe his story
shlomo ,   Toronto Canada   (04.10.11)
I actually believe his story. I have heard many have been set up in the past and by the way whoever did set him up g-d is watching big time!
