It is said that Messiah will come when good deeds will be many. So, by multiplying good deeds we draw Messiah closer. This is exactly the opposite. We are invoking the rise of Amalek, the new shoa and, G-d forbid, new destruction of Israel.

As fast as the haredim are growing in numbers, through high natural birthrate and immigration from abroad, I can only imagine how they will treat the rest of us sinners who don't dress like our ancestors of hundreds of years ago. These Meah Sharim people hate their own, imagine their hatred of the "goyim" in Tel Aviv and their not Jewish enough citizens throughout the country. And then people wonder why the rest of the country doesn't want haredim infiltrating into their neighborhoods!!!

And Jews throughout the world sigh and shake their heads. They wonder why all the criticism from their brothers in Eretz Israel because no one wants to make Aliyah. The extreme subordination of women by these religious fanatics is deeply concerning. What are we becoming - Islamic fundamentalists??? Never in our history have women been so demeaned and forcibly segregated. This goes against the essence of Judaism and the rabbis from these communities should intervene immediately. We are a cilivised people - start acting like it!!!

This is a time of joyous celebration - around the Torah which was given freely to all the Jewish people - what a way for these people to be entered into the Books of Life and Death

I am one of those "hilonim" married to one of those "goyim". There are no orthodox Jews, nor devout Muslims and very few Christian zealots in this liberal town. We all pretty much treat each other with respect and exchange pleasantries when we pass on the streets. Is it possible that the Haredim in the Mea Shearim quarter could actually be acting like " the Haredim that they are? Just wondering....

This behavior is not new. It is, however, sadly, a fundamental component of Jewish suffering. While they make meaningless noise, and cause a meaningless distractions, the enemy plots. They need to be contained before they cause additional suffering.

This type of meshugas is limited to the cloistered ultra-orthodox neighborhoods. (Other meshugas exists in Israel, but still better than the Galut). We NEED sane Orthodox and non-Orthodox aliyah. Come, it really is awesome here!

The police should step in in force. Bust some shtreimels already. The religious give Israel a bad name and they are worse than the arabs. Any Charedi that acts this way should have his house bulldozed. I am just as Jewish as them and know what I am talking about. If they had real jobs then they wouldn't have the energy for this nonsense. If they did the army, then they wouldn't be so into senseless violence.

If these guys had to work to support themselves and their families, instead of receiving welfare payments from law abiding and hard working Israeli taxpayers, they would have a lot less time and energy for fighting. They might also view women more as human beings with minds and feelings rather than as as temptresses and the source of sin to be either scorned or avoided.

Isn't it time we stop the nonsensical and totally arbitrary insistence that there's a pubic hair's worth of difference between these freaks and the taliban?
