1. they will do ANYTHING to save their jobs...

Forget about what WE want..
2. Labor has lost their audience for 2 reasons
Logic ,   Israel   (10.27.08)
Whether you like them or not, it is obvious that Labor has lost their unique position in the political marketplace since their glory days of 40+ mandates in 1992. Why? I suspect the following two reasons: 1. Oslo folly severely damaged their security and negotiating credentials. 2. Economic policies that are identical to Likud and Kadima has blurred the differences between the parties.
3. "Labor cannot lose its way" - it already did!
redmike ,   Tel Aviv   (10.27.08)
Shelly Yacimovich must be one of the few politicians (I'm being polite) that still uses such phrases as 'social revolution". Chavez does as well and I wonder if they refer to each other as Comrade Yacimovich and Comrade Chavez. Even Obama refrains from openly use these expressions. Mike
4. It's because of Oslo
Reuven ,   Ramat Aviv, Israel   (10.27.08)
The mediocrities running Labor, like Eitan Cabel, still don't understand the obvious: the voters are punishing Labor because it was this bunch of dimwits that was responsible for the Oslo disaster. They should face up to the mess they created and ask repentence.
5. They Deserve Each Other
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (10.27.08)
But nothing will stop them all from losing.
6. Kadima Labour Merge
DT ,   TA Isr   (10.27.08)
A merging of two " diseases". Hopefully they will kill each other off .
7. Now you offer unity after you cause elections?
Sheila ,   Jerusalem,Israel   (10.27.08)
Oh when will the Labour Party learn? After the umpteenth time their indecision forces us into expensive elections which they inevitably lose they suddenly develop "conscience" (the possibility of losing their entire electorate) they offer Kadimah their party on a plate!!! Why now? Pray tell us why not before?
8. Of course not
zionist forever   (10.27.08)
Labour is not one of the little minor parties like Gil or Meeretz that are here today gone tomorow. Its been hurt bad by Kadima and now a probable Likud win but joining Kadima means the end of the Labour party. Better to leave the party intact try join a coalition with the winner and live to fight another day rather than sell out and merge with Kadima. No single party wins elections every time this won't be Labours year it will be a humiliation but allthough the leaders might like a short term boost by joining Kadima most the party members who would have to vote on the issue prefer their party to stay independent rather than join a party which has no respect in the country for the sake of trying to win a single election. They will probably ditch Barak but not the party and they also don't want to have Livni as PM and assuming they merged Livni would still be PM not their man. They can achive the same result by staying independent trying to win by themselves but if not joining a coalition with the winner. Thats how the stinking system works. If Likud win and Labour come third they will probably be invited into a coalition, if Kadima win and Labour come thrid again they will probably be invited to join a coalition so either way they achive the same result but stay as a party in their own right.
