Israel sides with US on Cuba embargo    Yitzhak Benhorin
1. America doesn't grovel to her enemies.
(Unlike a another country whose name begins with "I".)
Jared ,   New York, USA   (10.31.08)
2. Cuba
Enough, al ready, the trade embargo should have been lifted long ago. It is time to modernize the country
jeremy ,   hula valley kibbutz   (10.31.08)
3. pathetic
How pathetic it is for Israel to be America's Micronesia...even the real Micronesia had the guts to abstain
Michael ,   Haifa   (10.31.08)
4. THE WORLD LOVE TYRANTS. IT IS WHY THEY LOVE OBAMA
(10.31.08)
5. Cuba
I do understand that the US stands by us when we are attacked. That doesn't mean we should say yes Sir every time. Cuba is another political mistake of the US clever politicians, just as the road map, etc. We used to be a proud country that knew that there is only one true friend of Israel. Pity!!!

6. USA chooses with whom to trade
The Cuban regime persecutes and imprisons people for speaking their mind!! That's enough reason to embargo them! In any case, as a soveriegn state, the USA has every right to choose with whom to trade and with whom not to trade!!!! so the rest the of the world can kiss its democratic !@# - including our so called "democratic allies" in Europe
Nadav ,   Tel Aviv   (10.31.08)
7. CUBA is one big PRISON
lefties should take notice
Charles   (10.31.08)
8. Jared
Excuse me. Shall we talk about China to whom we import everything from soup to nuts who carries a great majority of our financial debt? If we get any deeper with China we might fall in ; -) Lou Dobb's reported yesterday China has been hired to do security at LA harbor and the head of the security company is the son of a high ranking Chinese government official. BTW: Saudi Arabia owns almost half of the U.S! Saudi Arabia and China's human rights violations make Cuba's look like a tea party!! So what is it Jared we here in the U.S do not grovel to? Head out of the sand Jared!
Aaron ,   Boulder   (10.31.08)
9. Embargo of Cuba
Thanks to Fidel Castro, Cuba is a human rights hell hole. However, I'm not sure how effective our embargo has been although I don't see the policy changing any time soon in part because there are heavy concentrations of Cuban-Americans, who are understandably very anti-Castro, living in key states.

10. so true number 9 but.........
What is good for one must be good for all. It is not however. Therefore punishing a people who have nothing who are ruled by tired old men when we trade with those whose severest human rights violations are given a brief wink and nod is not only two faced but morally wrong.
Leah ,   Ann Arbor   (10.31.08)
11. Human rights
U.S is very deep in trade with the grand abuser of human rights which is China. Why is that? China has an imbalanced trade with us AND they carry a great portion of our debt. Many ME countries to which U.S trades is so corrupt and deep in human rights violations it would take a year to record them all on this forum. One violation so despicable is female mutilation!!! If we can trade with Saudi Arabia we can surely find a way to reach out to Cuba... I am surely against Communism to which the poor country of Cuba is firmly entrenched in. That little tiny country of Cuba is no threat and we should reach out seeing we reach out to every evil dictator, human rights violator and corrupt despot on the planet. (including Abbas who recently met in Beirut with Jew killer Samir Kuntar) Pakistan and Egypt whose human rights are non to good is called a good friend and ally of the US. We trade with both. Again, so many examples not enough bandwidth.

12. look #4 Israel and U.S on same page
When George Bush
(10.31.08)
13. wake up #4
You have your nerve. When Bush left Israel the last time he proclaimed: "Take good care of Olmert." Bush lobed on to pay-dirt when it came to Olmert and he took full advantage of it. Bush just wrote a walloping $350 check to Abbas asking again nothing in return. He also turned down a request by Israel to purchase long range aircraft which we so desperately need. George Bush's liberated phony democratic country of Iraq refuses to recognize Israel, allow flyovers or landings to refuel in the event we do take out Iran's nukes. Ditto all the rest of the ME countries The U.S throws money around like it is water to the worse of the worst. Please do not lecture about what Obama would or would not do. After Bush, how much worse can it get?
(10.31.08)
14. Israel shouldn't have any relationship with dictatorships
(10.31.08)
15. Cuba is not one big prison
To Charles whom wrote that "Cuba is one big prison" has not been there nor knows how their system works. I have been there several times and although I do not agree with their government at all, I can tell you that everyone there has health care and do not have to pay hundreds of thousands for a kidney transplant like in the USA! Also, if you have NO money you still have something in the form of food every month rationed to you. Here in the USA if you are broke, you don't eat, you die while watching BMW's, MERCEDES and more passing you by with ZERO care from Government. IF you are young, no worries then but wait til you are 70 years of age and depending on USA to feed you, good luck.

16. Cuba
For those that have been to Cuba and approve of the system, move there. We left because my grandfathers business of providing & selling prothesis' was confiscated. Now you cannot find any replament limbs on the island. These are mostly made in Germany ( No Embargo) but still unavailable. BTW, what we are doing here on this forum is not permited in Cuba. Its lovely there.

17. U.S., Israel should WITHDRAW from the UN!
(10.31.08)
18. Cuba
I am always amazed when people talk about confiscated properties or business as a result of the Cuban revolution and use this as some sort justification for the embargo. Things happen when revolutions take place. I think most know little if anything about the history of Cuba and how the US imposed its will upon the small nation prior to 1959. Have a look at what Batista did for the Cuban people. Castro is no angel, Cuba is a 3rd world country with 1st world people. The embargo hasn't worked.
Seveer ,   canada   (10.31.08)
19. #15
I was also there several times, you obviously have not traveled the island and talked to the population without monitors and spies. Shame on you !
Charles   (10.31.08)
20. Doesn't Israel Have Business in Cuba
Last I heard, Israel has citrus business in Cuba. If so, then their vote is very hypocritical. The rest of the world knows that Cuba is a peaceful and friendly country and loves Americans. The embargo is driven by Miami exiles who represent Republican votes and campaign money. In time, this political nonsense will end.
