1. Poland, you didn't save enough
Petra ,   usa   (11.19.08)
and you have the balls to charge Jews to visit the house of horrors you make $$ on our dead.
2. Petra, how many did you save?
Adam ,   Haifa   (11.19.08)
how much did you risk for that? how many Jews did the US save, knowing reports about death camps brought to the US by the Polish underground? and how many Poles did you help in your life? (since you expect them to help Jews...) stop spreading hate
3. #2 how right

That person in the USA generally talks through her spinctre, spews infinite amounts of hatred - and her opinions are based on nothing more than sheer bigotry. Your points to her are most salient.

Petra, you're pathetic with your hatred toward the Poles. Or was it Polish DUTY to die for the Jews, maybe?

Would you risk the lives of your family members and your entire community for an acquaintance or a stranger? Countless villages were burned to the ground and all inhabitants exterminated because the Nazis found someone harboring a Jewish person. People in Poland were terrified of a Jewish person coming to ask for help as it meant meant either the Nazis or in eastern regions NKVD were soon to follow and then probable certain death no matter what your political sympathies were. A no-win situation. Damned if if you did, damned if your didn't. Damned if you had no political inclinations. It was death to you, your family and your entire community. Let me ask you, since you are American, If there were a similar situation in your country, would you risk the lives of your family members and community for the targeted minority? Perhaps the targeted minority might be hispanic, asian, muslim or african american families, those who dwell down the street or in the next neighborhood; possibly people you wouldn't know very well? Somehow, I think not. Why do you expect something from people that you would not likely be capable of yourself? Put yourself in their shoes. If you are a mother, wife etc., Would you sacrifice your husband, children and parents for someone else? If you would, let's talk. That would be an interesting discussion. Don't be stupid. This was all about power/money. As everything always is/was. Look deeper, And I mean... much deeper. The devils and culprits are not the scapegoats.

NKVD killing people for hiding Jews? Where you found this? Indeed, people in Poland were terrified of a Jewish person coming to ask for help, as many of the NEIGHBOURS were quick denouncing those who were sheltering Jews. Do you know why many Polish families hiding Jews died, including Ulm's family? Maybe you need to learn a little...

I think you misinterpreted the post. Poles (in the east,) were afraid of Jews and Ukrainians because they were seen to be spies of the Red Army. Therefore if a Jew or Ukrainian showed up at your doorstep, it was believed that the NKVD were likely to follow and then your family would be sent to a Siberian Gulag. This fear was very real as it happend to about 1 million Polish Citizens. The Soviets used ethnic groups (and the fear of other ethnic groups) against one another as part of their campaign to divide and conquer and it was extremely effective. I think pois-chiche was addressing the TWO invaders, their policies and their implications on Polish/Jewish relations in one sentence. Most people think that only the Nazis invaded Poland. They do not know about the Soviet invasion. The Soviet experience should never be ommitted when talking about WWII in Poland.
