The real target are the Muslim immigrants in Denmark who are making themselves less than popular - this is just to make Denmark less attractive to Muslims & perhaps (hopefully) encourage some to leave. What is so barbaric about circumcision? At 8 days old, as is our custom, the infant doesn't know a thing. But, circumcision at 15 years old, now that's a bit traumatic. Arabs circumcise much later, often as old as 8-10 years old & I think that's psychologically damaging. Circumcision has definite health benefits re: cervical cancer & even the spread of AIDS. But even without any health benefits, it is part of our religious tradition - I'm secular but I don't hate my heritage as you seem to do. Just out of curiosity, do you also feel that body piercing & tatoos are barbaric?

If I would tattoo my 8 day old child that would be barbaric, yes? But do not forsake the mitzvot, brit mila is the only reason why we are currently living in the land of Israel. Just a correction of your history. The Arabs did not rule Israel for more than 1400 years, that is just a myth spread by anti-Israel propagandists. The Arabs ruled Israel for only a short time after they stole it from the natives around 635 CE. For the next 1300 years Israel was ruled by many different nations including Christians and Muslims. Most of the Muslims were non-Arabs, especially Turkish people.

Most Muslim societies cirumcise their sons at around the same time that Jews do, when they're babies. Not sure though if it has to be on the 8th day. I've only ever heard of Yemen circumcising their sons at the age of 13-14, i.e. when the boy reaches puberty.

A symbolic pinprick should be done for babies and then they can choose at 15 if they wish to be circumcised or not. A child should have a choice about their religion. To Andrew, Christians do NOT circumcise.

Arabs, in fact, Muslim Arabs circumcise during the first couple of weeks of the child's birth at worst. Many people do it the first week though. I do not know where do you keep coming up with this nonsense about Arabs. Christian Arabs do not circumcise , but some choose to do it too. Muslims that are not Arabs in Turkey for example, circumcise at an age of 5 years or so. Myself, I have been taken care of during the first week of my birth ;)
