1. We seen this movie a 1000 times..same stupid
Al   (11.21.08)
comments from the PM DM COS etc. In effect Israel is a toothlesss lamba. You are getting your ass kicked 24/7 and all you do is play with yourself. Pathetic is not the word...When it will come to a merciless end as all our travails of the past have, volumes will be written of what should have been and what could have been. In the interim Israel is bleeding a death of a 1000 cuts. You simply dont want to live. You are the losers.
2. Olmert & Barak promise to do nothing.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (11.21.08)
Our two clowns (anyone old enough to remember Abbot & Costello?) were summoned by King Abdullah of Palestine & promised not to take any major action. Israeli security is not as important, obviously, as the stability of the Hashemites. In effect, by making this promise, Olmert & his military genius side-kick told Hamas it was OK to continue shooting missiles at us. They can now be assured there will be no major military action against them. Instead, this gov't. will continue to persecute the Jews in Hevron, creating headlines & painting the misbehavior of a few teenagers as a danger to the State. I should point out the obvious - the settlers are not shooting Kassams or planting roadside bombs, nor are they digging tunnels to attempt further kidnappings of Israeli soldiers to hold hostage. Only the truely braindead will fall for this slimy strategy of deception.
3. Majdal was blown up deliberately by Jews
observer   (11.21.08)
In July 1950, Majdal - today Ashkelon - was still a mixed town. About 3,000 Palestinians lived there in a closed, fenced-off ghetto, next to the recently arrived Jewish residents. Before the 1948 war, Majdal had been a commercial and administrative center with a population of 12,000. It also had religious importance: nearby, amid the ruins of ancient Ashkelon, stood Mash'had Nabi Hussein, an 11th-century structure where, according to tradition, the head of Hussein Bin Ali, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, was interred; his death in Karbala, Iraq, marked the onset of the rift between Shi'ites and Sunnis. Muslim pilgrims, both Shi'ite and Sunni, would visit the site. But after July 1950, there was nothing left for them to visit: that's when the Israel Defense Forces blew up Mash'had Nabi Hussein. This was not the only Muslim holy place destroyed after Israel's War of Independence. According to a book by Dr. Meron Benvenisti, of the 160 mosques in the Palestinian villages incorporated into Israel under the armistice agreements, fewer than 40 are still standing. What is unusual about the case of Mash'had Nabi Hussein is that the demolition is documented, and direct responsibility was taken by none other than the GOC Southern Command at the time, an officer named Moshe Dayan. The documentation shows that the holy site was blown up deliberately, as part of a broader operation that included at least two additional mosques, one in Yavneh and the other in Ashdod.
4. #3 Tell me, mr. observer
moshe ,   ashkelon israel   (11.21.08)
Who initiated Israel's War Of Independence? Not us - we were attacked simultaneously on all fronts by the Arabs and we had to fight for our very existence. We were thankfully able to win this war, at great cost to ourselves. Whatever the Arabs lost they deserved to lose - including Majdal.
5. #3 Observer - Our mistake was not finishing the job.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (11.21.08)
Similar action should have been taken through-out the country. And, after 1967, should have been done in all the conquered territories, especially Jerusalem. Do you know why I say this? Because this is exactly what was done to us in areas taken by Egypt or Jordan after they attacked us & lost. This is called reciprocity. It is an important principle - do unto others as they do unto you. Isn't that fair?
6. The city of Ashkelon.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (11.21.08)
Ashkelon is a beautiful little seaside city of 120.000 inhabitants. Life in Ashkelon was always peaceful and pleasant. Will the Israeli government permit the lot of Ashkelon to become as the one of Sderot or will the government react efficiently against the criminals of the Gaza Strip? The main target of the terrorists are the civilian population. The presence of the press on the battle field and the Geneva Chart are luxuries that a land in war cannot efford. We should fight with all means in order to win as described at : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2008/02/new-war_01.html
7. WHAT NUMBER OF CASUALTIES ARE REQUIRED TO REACT?
ROLAND SEENER ,   LONDON ENGLAND   (11.21.08)
8. Is Israel is real!
Jewish Refugee ,   U.S.A.   (11.21.08)
When is Israel is going to put an end to this crimes against humanity? When is Ehud Barack is going to act like a defense minister not a politician who onlly cares about himself? When the people of Israel are going to throw this government in prison? Please join an emergency blog at http://israelactnow.blogspot.com/ where you can voice you opinions, contribute your articles, and above all support Israel right to exist.
9. until when?
eddie ,   London UK   (11.21.08)
why is this kadima government not doing anything? will thy wait till they kassams can reach tel aviv?
10. I hate to say it: But Israel appears to have a death wish
Australian Guy ,   Sunshine Coast   (11.21.08)
Why isn't the government doing anything definite to stop the incessant rocket and mortar fire? Everyday that this mamby-pamby approach goes on - means the enemy gets stronger and I think that will translate into more Israeli deaths when the inevitable "big-bang" occurs. This Olmert fiasco-cum-government surely is the last gasp...By the way...why is he still there? I thought he'd resigned? Unbelievable state of affairs. The country will rue the day that let that man take control , he and his cohorts have seriously weakened Israel and many will die because of the utterly stupid approach taken to dealing with a determined enemy.
11. Centrist Weakness
Sam   (11.21.08)
While I am inclined to lean toward Kadima on the so called "peace process"and land for peace, Kadima';s failure to properly defend the country against rocket attacks by attacking gaza with all its might, leads me unable to even consider supporting it. With great concern, I am left supporting likud and the right which will take action against rockets.
12. Let us face it. barak was a commando and not a soldier
jason white ,   afula,israel   (11.21.08)
What he did in commando raids was great, but he has very little experience leading large formations of troops, armor and artillery. We need someone who "grew up" in the army. Someone who could look at a map and know what orders to give the troops. Where there could be enemy formations and ambushes. We need someone who will make sure that his soldiers are protected and not care what happens to the enemy, combatant or civilian.
13. #5 don't cry baby
observer   (11.21.08)
you said it; do unto others as they do unto you
14. #4 you are right
observer   (11.21.08)
kicking out a population of 12,000 was not an easy job, even by war of "independence"
15. #4Another "holy site"?
Raphael ,   Netanya   (11.21.08)
In 1948, Ashkelon was a fisherman village without any importance, except to be a stronghold of the egyptian invasion army. In the same time, the heart of the jewish people, Jerusalem Old City including the Kotel was erased by the arab Legion, the synagogues turned into stables, the tombstones used as lavatories, the Jews barred from praying at the Wall. This justifies blowing up all fake muslim holy sites.
