Israeli saves chimp from Congolese troops    Erez Ehrlichman
1. If you really want to save some monkeys en masse
take a walk over to the knesset. There are 120 of them in dire need of a lobotomy.
Al   (11.21.08)
2. help save here too
We have a building full of monkeys here in Israel. Maybe he can come back and help them. It is called the Knesset Phehhh, He is probably better of in the jungle there than in this county.

8.  Ahmadinejad is reported to have 1 Nuke

9. Mapima
All of the creatures on this earth are God's creatures.... it disturbs me that the talkbacks here are so insensitive, yet they are likely the same people who run to synagogue services every day or week, or is it church or mosque? As a Jew I am ashamed of these people who call themselves Jews.
Michael ,   New York   (11.22.08)
10. #7 - If there is a choice
of saving either an animal or a human being, the human being has to be saved.
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (11.22.08)
11. May Hashem reward Reinich for his kindness, a true mensch.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.23.08)
12. #10 Animals first people worst
G-D runs the show not people like you # 10. G-D created all life, it is expected of us all to fend for and secure the conditions and well being of all animals, it was never and is never about an animal's life at the expense of a human life, it's the other way round, daily thousands of animals save human lives and sadly millions of dogs + rabbits + cats horses and go through horrid experiments daily for your cosmetic use. Hundreds of thousands of animals hourly world wide like in China, are skinned alive again for your clothing fashion so hats off to the generous and brave gent Mr. Reinich that dared and cared to save the Chimp, only selfish people whom care only about themselves would write such a talkback knocking number #7. Too many humans are selfish and destructive just look at your government in power, if i had to save a human or an animal i would the animal for they are the one's whom are helpless, when one can not feel for a helpless animal living in horror and agony then one is an emotional cripple according to leading studies. visit www.peta.com and learn about animal demise in man's cruel world, learn to praise and appreciate those like #7 and Mr. Reinich that are brave and care. Apparently you missed that Mr. Rinich is a volunteer at a refugee camp not at a zoo, feed a homless cat this winter not your ego, it will only enrich your soul.
Jason ,   TEL AVIV BEACH   (11.23.08)
13. Ahhh beautiful story - it's great to know there are
still decent human beings around like Eyal Reinich. Cute lovely man!
Talula ,   Israel   (11.23.08)
14. Lydia from Brisbane - GET OFF IT
Your comment, as usual shows your immaturity and thoughtless hatred. Grow up, educate yourself on something beside Arab propaganda and get a life! In Australia you're so far removed from Israel, what's it to you anyway? Maybe - support the Aborigines.. Now there's a cause! People that have been disposessed and abused by the white Anglo settlers.
Esther ,   Ofarim, Israe.   (11.23.08)
15. Lydia of Brisbane
The article was about a chimp called Mapima. And you go and introduce another chimp called Ahmadinejad. Of these two chimps I think that Mapima is hell of a lot better looking than that other chimp called Ahmadinejad.
James McNamara ,   BrokenHill Australia   (11.23.08)
16. I hope he won't sell those poor creatures
to the horrible animal traffickers and make some bucks!!
Moise   (11.23.08)
17. The contrast is stark
Jews save lives, the congo soldiers take lives. If not for the Jews, this poor chimp would have perished w/o a thought. Thank you for saving a small creature in true need of help. Wish the people of the congo were given that chance as well.
Petra ,   usa   (11.30.08)
18. # 8 Australis fed up w/ muslims
and perhaps you can volunteer to become a 'pet' of the same ones who held and tortured this poor creature. You really are an ass, aren't you? If Israel has somany bombs, why doesn't she use them? Idiot.
Petra ,   USA   (12.02.08)
19. Bring Gilad Shalit HOME!!!!!
Ofira Roll ,   Pittsburgh / Israel   (12.03.08)
20. Please do not pay money for baby chimpanzees!
As a chimpanzee researcher and conservationist working in the Northern DRC (please see my ebooks at www.wasmoethwildlife.org), I am enormously disturbed by this story. I have no doubt that Mr. Reinich was moved by compassion to buy the orphan chimpanzee from the soldiers, but it was an act of ignorance that may well cost the lives of many more chimpanzee mothers and babies. $130 is a huge amount of money to a Congolese soldier, and it is a good bet the seller will put in an order for more chimpanzee babies following this windfall. We are currently witnessing a chimpanzee massacre in N DRC, and a huge market in orphans. Clearly misguided compassion such as this is part of what is driving the trade. In the future, please find a way to take in orphan chimpanzees that does not involve an exchange of money or gifts (as we have done in Aketi, with 6 orphans), or you are doing more harm than good. A good idea is to contact ICCN before trying to take in the orphan. Cleve Hicks The Bili Chimpanzee Project
