State says has solid case against Olmert     Aviad Glickman
1. Olmert's Indictment
Time for more Peace feelers to Syria, Hamas, PLO etc, After all pacifism is the last refuge of the Scournal!
Neil Richards ,   Cheshunt Australia   (11.27.08)
2. A common crook to be jailed like anyone else.
Maybe he and Sharron's son can talk about old times in the same cell.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.27.08)
3. Put him away
Olmert should be arrested and imprisoned as soon as possible. He has caused enough damage to Israel already. It's unfortunate that Israeli laws are not like those in Thailand.
David   (11.27.08)
4. You have to burn leeches off the flesh
As I have always said, Olmert will be dragged kicking and screaming from his office. Most sociopath's act this way
Yoni ,   Chiloquin   (11.27.08)
5. solid case
Ehud, its all over, your peace(surrender) moves will come to an end. Kadima chairperson Livni will demand that you that suspend yourself immediately and even your lapdog buddy Ramon will support her. Now you have to concentrate on your defense in the hearing. I suggest you say that Zaken directed it completely with Raz of Rishon Tours and that you knew nothing of it, and never did you authorize zaken to double bill. As far as paying for your holidays with your family, again, others arranged it for you, you assumed the source of the monies were from your hard work, that you knew nothing of any siphoned monies. It would also be unfair for the AG office to bring in any other suspicions like taking cash for bribes in the talansky case, providing favours for clients while you were at industry, getting a reduction in the price of your house on Cremieux in return for zoning favors. These suspicions not proven should not be used to tar you.So with any luck, Mazuz will not indict. You should still focus on this and forget about screwing israel with your peace sellout which livni disagrees with and most of israel likewise disagrees with as well. Jail has male rapists and it would be hoped that you could avoid a term in therel. Suspend yourself immediately. it woud be the best thing you could have ever done for israel. Also, do not run for office again as Israel never wants to see you again. Maybe New York is a better place for you.

6. livnat argument to Benisch
Livnat should reargue her case that the Court shoud rule that Olmert could not undertake peace talks or any other significant moves. The Judge rules against Livnat as she relied on the Barak case of 2000 where barak could do last minute peace talks even though he was a caretaker. The judge could not distinguish livnat's argument that the case of olmert was different than Barak. Now Mazuz has notified olmert that he is under consideration. of indictment. It would be illogical for the court to rule the same way and let Olmert conclude peace talks his way and then 6 months later he ends up in jail. The Supreme court would have to be stupid and blind. Livnat- relaunch on appeal.

So why is he still in the PM chair instead of prison where he belongs?
meir elazar   (11.27.08)
8. It's been proven!!!
Anyone that gave (or even intended on giving) land to the Palestinians, was punished!
Shua ,   NY   (11.27.08)
9. Cardinal Rishleu of France long ago could get a secure
conviction on anyone if they spoke but one sentence. I thought Mazuz was Jewish, but maybe he is a Catholic in waiting.
Rivkah   (11.27.08)
10. threats made by Mazuz are worthless just like Olmerts
Having a solid case doesn't matter if your not going to do anything to make sure justice is done. Mazuz talks tough but his threats are generaly as empty and worthless as Olmerts and chances are he will let Olmert off with a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again. He also has imunity from prosecution of any kind until after the election when he is no longer the PM. Sadly it looks like Olmert is not going to be spending even one night in a jail cell, instead the state will give him all sorts of rewards at tax payers expense as a leaving present just like they did with Moshe Katsav After he is oficialy let off the hook Olmerts will go on the international anti Israel lecture circuit telling all the left wing intilectuals what a hero he is for all the brave decisions he made to harm Israel.
zionist forever   (11.27.08)
11. Unbelievable that he can still keep his position!
Surely this cant be legal! Their should also be an inquiry into why Mazuz has been stalling and dragging these inquiries!
JAy ,   ISrael   (11.27.08)
12. ohlmert
do not feel sorry for the man. he deserves every miniute behind bars along with his charming wife aliza. should have been done monthsssssss ago. m sure that she did not return with him from the USA. they are lairs, thieves, corrupt, dishonest and an embarressment to the state of israel.
sas ,   israel   (11.27.08)
13. ohlmert
NO MONEY IN HIS POCKET - NO DEAL..................................... best example is Gilad Shalit. A sick man leading a country with many problems.
sad ,   isreel   (11.27.08)
14. seven years is not enough
for a wicked man like him and his friend Katzav!!!

Adam S ,   Jerusalem   (11.27.08)
16. State Prosecutors are solid idiots.
I am sorry but the solid evidence were there for a long time, but this corrupted prosecutors suddenly right before the general elections figured it out that they had it. Oh come on how stupid do you think that Jews are? Please join our new Pro_Israel website where your voice counts, where your comments count, join at http://israelactnow.blogspot.com/.

17. 'Public has the right to know' !
Indeed they do ! For instance, BY WHAT MECHANISM CAN MAZUZ BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE AND CONVICTED ? Furthermore, by what if any criterion is such process democratic ? If indeed he was appointed by his peers then, is there any equation between adjudication of his crimes and the general electorate ? By what rational or, ethical principal can , immunity be asserted regarding prosecution of A.G. regarding article 97 ? Does anyone understand the ramifacations of previous ? WILL YNET PRINT THIS OR DO THE IMUTABLE LAWS OF ACESS PREVAIL? HEY PUBLIC, A "RIGHT" REQUIRES A DEMAND, IT AIN'T A PRIVILEDGE !
AVROHOM BILGREI ,   ZION   (11.27.08)
18. SINCE WHEN DOES ............................
"contemplating filing an indictment against the prime minister" constitute a TOP CAPTION OF: "PM Indicted" ? YELLOW JOURNALISM IN A RED FIELD ?
Alexandra Rothchild   (11.27.08)
19. He must be stopped
Even if the evil man is able to hold office until the new government if formed, surely the must be a way of stopping him from conducting international affairs affecting Israel.
Rabbi Micha Sloman ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.27.08)
20. Blame Eli Yishai and Shas!
Olmert could have been out and even under arrest if Shas had accepted an interim government so don't blame Mazoz or even Olmert. He is still the Prime Minister and there is no legal way of "ousting" him until a new government is formed which could be in March or even later! Shas' attempt to extort more money from Livni was nothing less than an excuse to avoid serving in a Government led by a woman and particularly one who would not bow down and kiss the hand of Israel's version of the Pope. Shas' and the other ultra-Orthodox parties prove beyond any doubt that this country cannot function as a true democracy until a total overhaul of the electoral system is carried out.
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (11.27.08)
21. To#19: No Rabbi Micha Stoman, there isn't!
He is the Prime Minister de jure and that is according to a Professor of Constitutional Law interviewed yesterday on Channel 2 TV. The Orthodox parties, by refusing to accept Livini as Prime Minister, have ensured that Ehud Olbert will be Prime Minster until a new government is formed after the general election in February! You made your bed, now lie in it!
We the People ,   Israel   (11.27.08)
22. To #17: Accoring to Bibi the public don't have ....
a right to know everything. He said this during his term of office as PM. Remember now? You seem to be confusing the Israel Basic Law with the USA Constitution. I am am afraid, that while I sympathize with your point of view, it should be apparent to anyone with a modicum of intelligence, no offense intended, that our politicians, top echelon government office bearers and our judges are not responsible to the people! Sad but very true.
David ,   The Galil   (11.27.08)
23. Peres is to blame
Peres had the option of charging another MK to try to form a gvt. when Livni failed. He refused to do so Stop making Shas a scapegoat, they have enough real sins without adding false ones! They should have left the gvt. way before Olmert resigned, this is their true sin!

25. I hope they show us olmert in his brown
prison suit. I hope he spends everyday of the seven years in a cell. But I bet there is a deal and he gets a suspended sentence, community service or the loser will pardon him. I wonder if he spoke to bush about a pardon?
jason white ,   afula,israel   (11.27.08)
26. #2 Check your facts bunnie boy
Well for your information Omri Sharon came out of prison over a year ago! Totally misinformed as usual. Maybe they will put Olmert in the special Shas wing of the prison where they put the real low lifes? Not that internal Israeli politics is any of your bussiness as you are not qualified to vote here in Israel.
Avi ,   Ramat Gan   (11.27.08)
27. To # 21 we the people
I see that you signed yourself as "we the people." Does this mean that you speak for everyone? Incidentally I am a Modern Orthodox Rabbi and I have a high regard for Tzipi Livni.
Rabbi Micha Sloman ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.27.08)
28. #8 You are ABSOLUTELY correct. Hashem has said that would
happen & it has & ,   will continue too!   (11.27.08)
