43. Wow, the commentary is rather damning.
I think perhaps #28 might have hit the nail on the head in this particular matter. That, and living under the gun full-time in a neighborhood where one's neighbors yearn to obliterate you, must not make for a very polite or tactful citizenry. In a way, that the product of such a reality would be ill-mannered, does not surprise. Hard folk for a hard neighborhood.

44. Sad
Unfortunately the stereotype holds true in Los Angeles as well. We need to do some real soul searching as to how we bring up our children because there are comparatively too many bad apples...and that is what people remember...

46. The main contributors
to the today's anti-Semitism is Israel and Israelis themselves in wide range. From Ultraorthodox and arsonists to Policemen and MK's, Sorry for generalization, but intelligent and tolerant people are overshadowed by ugly, rude and arrogant majority.

48. I disagree with this article
I DISAGREE with this stupid article. I live in Italy, and german people when descend from the mountains for holidays in Italy, are like beasts. Italian tourists are considered like pigs in every part of the world. English tourists are the worst tourists in the planet. This article is stupid because is not considering that OUTSIDE of the national borders we are ALL PIGS

49. We can handle this!
Not one country in the history of humankind has come as far, accomplished more, or overcome more in 60 years than Israel. Now, we have this to take care of. No problem, we can do it. Thirty years ago litter was rampant in America. Now, no one would be caught dead littering.(Just a light example - the country also overcoming unabashed racism through education) Why? Consistent education for a generation. So, now, we need to start a "manners" segment in the school system. I already see it happening on Hop television station for kids. Kids are seen waiting patiently in line on the playground, helping each other, saying, "Selicha". I live around mostly "beautiful" Israelis (who'd do anything for you at a moment's notice), not the ugly kind, and they all want to be known as civilized. WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

50. Israelis not welcome
I've backpacked extensively in my home country NZ, and i have to say everything written above is true, backpackers and camping ground owners DREAD having Israelis to stay. A generalisation of course but they steal, cheat are incredibly rude to others and generally obnoxious. I'm trying to raise my son not to be the same but the general disregard for others starts at a very young age here and has nothing to do with the army or security situation.

51. You also have to look at
The originality of the “Israeli”, the background, the education at home, the mixed nationalities marriage. We live in a society made of so many nationalities, every nationality brought with them their different bags of behaviors & customs. So every time you try to adjust & accept the situation, boom you get bombarded again with a new alliyah.Take for example the Russian alliyah & then the Ethiopian alliyah, two completely different civilizations & again you have to accept & adjust. So one ‘Israeli’ behavior is different then another ‘Israeli’ behavior.

52. Hateful generalizations of a diverse population
This article and the other talk backs are riddled with generalizations and stereotypes. Yes it is true that stereotypes usually have a grain of truth and it is sad to perpetuate them by not changing ones behavior. However, Israel has a huge population and to characterize all the people this way is disgusting and false. Both from experience with Israeli's in American, and from being in Israel, I have met some incredible people. Israeli's have not only been the most warm, hospitable, welcoming, and helpful people, but their overall kindness and willingness to put themselves out for me has been amazing. I have traveled into their country without speaking the language, and everywhere I've gone I have been able to communicate and in many many cases converse in English, in THEIR country.

53. Hooligan international
It is a way of spreading anti Israel prejudice not to mention that all junior rednecks in the world behave as bullies: look at the Champs Elysées, you will see scores of ill mannered arab youngsters shoplifting, harrassing local women, spitting, spreading litter. You may see young Germans behaving the same way in Mallorca, fighting Brits on the Costa del Sol, dead drunk Swedes in Copenhagen, sex crazy Danes in Gambia, etc... So why focus self hating global statements on Jews only?
Raphael ,   Netanya   (12.06.08)
54. A culture of entitlement. The world doesn't owe us anything.
Everything in our society breeds a culture of entitlement. No discipline at schools. No accountability for crimes committed by minors. Leniency for criminals in general. Being screwed over in the army from 18 to 21. Being coddled by our parents till our mid 20s. Dishonest government and bureaucracy that says he who does not demand his rights doesn't get them. Religious entitlement of the land. Moral debt of the Holocaust. We're breeding a generation (or more) of over-aged adolescents.

56. Israelis abroad
The way Israelis behave abroad is a very sad situation indeed. Question is why and how to change it? Israelis are basically a very warm, family orientated and caring people. Maybe some kind of cultural programme can be introduced in schools so that the young Israelis will take heed and be conscious of their image abroad.

57. Le Juif errant ?
The Israeli, any Israeli has become an icon of evilness, ugliness, corruption, exploitation. " We are God's chosen people, so we can do as we like " If accurate, HE did a lousy job. And of course, there is the " what do you expect ?" It is indicative of how the country is run, by whom?(the ME first politician MY own opinion ?, having lived in a few countries for many years, I have found it to be the case too many times. Now in Israel,My experiences with customs, driving schools, food and electonic stores, internet and cell phone providers, post office and more, are nothing to be proud off.

59. I wish this article was in Hebrew
While it is a generalization and there are plenty of Israelis who are as polite as any other nationality, I've seen enough of this behavior too. All we can do is educate our children about the importance to behave considerately here and abroad.
Rina   (12.06.08)
60. Funny! Heard the same about Brits, Germans, Americans etc.
...so this makes us just like EVERYBODY else! I rememer when Israel (Tel Aviv) braced for a UK-Israel soccer game. The UK fans reputation preceeded them. HOWEVER, when they finally landed, they turned out to be a likable and happy bunch. They did drink lots of beer and sang loudly, but instead of being attacked and ridiculized, they were embraced with warmth. No cars were burnt, no shops or people were vandalized or brutalized, and they left Israel as both us and them were smiling. Ask ANY of them who visited Israel how they felt! I saw several interviews on the TV on the subject. So before accusing ALL the Israelis of being pigs, take a step back and think: are we ALL like that? Are you Mr. Nuriel a pig too? I agree that there is a MINORITY who behaves like that - I see it in Israel too. But that does NOT make us all pigs! That does NOT make us any different from other peoples!
