1. Yes, this was very hurtful to many people. Donors to Chabad
Rivkah   (11.29.08)
should insist on the installation of a saferoom at Chabad Houses or fortifications of the centers. I remember when the Veterans Administration Hospitals had to install bullet proof glass and draw dispensers that prevented any physical contact with healthcare workers to protect pharmacists who dispensed methadone to Viet Nam War heroin addicts who stole everything that was not bolted down and threatened the lives of healthcare workers north of Los Angeles. Help centers, whether VA or Chabad need to have upgraded security when the dangers become too intense.
2. Terrorist murder in the name of Islam.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (11.29.08)
If you are Moslem, you have to behave according to the rules of Islam which are set down in the Koran and which are very different than the teachings of the Bible. Islam was born with the idea that it should rule the world. Islam has to fight the Jews and the Christians and this fighting is called Jihad. Jihad means war against those people who don’t want to accept the Islamic superior rule. That’s jihad as explained at : http://xrl.us/kkxrc
3. It is also a pity that we lost so many Jews to

chabad. So many left Israel to live in the promised land of Brooklyn and other places. So many avoided the draft, because of chabad.
4. Of course it is a tragedy
Sagi ,   Israel   (11.29.08)
But by far the bigger tragedy is the unwillingness of civilized Nations to understand and accept Islam for what it is and what it represents.
5. Jason; what type of human are you?
Ilan ,   Ariel   (11.29.08)
Is now the time to spout hate at Chabad. Would any decent human do as you do?
6. #3 Jason, not the time nor the place.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (11.29.08)
And Chabad, unlike you, seem to care for Jews worldwide - whereas you only care for Jews when they come and live here. Not everyone can simply abandon their lives that easily and resettle. Chabad strengthens the communities' ties to their Jewish heritage, religion, and culture - moreso than anyone else, bar none. And Jason, Chabad brought more people *into* Israel than it brought out - a lot more, because many of the people they bring back into the fold of Judaism later make Aliya - you know, those wealthy religious people with foreign accents? Where did you think *they* come from, Jason? They moon?

out of your anuses! They are a movement that tears young Jews away from the most important thing a Jew can do. That is to serve in the I.D.F. Not a yeshiva. I worked at their schools and I heard the principal tell the students not to stand during the siren for both Heroes and Martyrs Day and the Holocaust Memorial Day. I had my Israeli flag almost ripped twice by ha-bad students. They do not fly the Israeli flag, but they take the Israeli sheckel. They do not close on Independence Day. I heard the male students calling female soldiers "whores". I guess they thought the soldiers were their mothers. ha-bad is a terrible movement and is more like a cult. And you can take those over the age for military service olim and shove them where the sun does not shine. Any decent Jew would see that they do not contribute to Israel and Jews will remain Jews with or without ha-bad. Israel will be strong if there are people who defend it and not draft dodge. Israel is the holy land for Jews and not Brooklyn! This was a terrible act and it would not have happened if there was no ha-bad in Mumbai. Israel would be stronger if there were less draft dodgers and more soldiers. Jews should wear olive green and not black. We are not in 17th century poland! There is a two year old orphan and it should not have happened!
8. # 5 What Kind Of A Person Is Jason?
Nippy ,   Tiberias Israel   (11.29.08)
Probably young, immature with a chip on his shoulder, lacks compassion and empathy with others, loves violence...the list goes on...
9. YOUR SO BUSY RAILING AT JASON......
ALEXANDRA ROTHCHILD   (11.29.08)
THAT THE TERM "ultra-Orthodox" BY YNET WAS COMPLETELY DISREGARDED BY ANY OF YOU ! It was a cheap shot of diparagement; "inoppropriate" to describe Chabad with such a buzz word refering to the obvious !
10. # 7 True They Are A Cult
Lawrence ,   zefat Israel   (11.29.08)
I agree that jews should wear olive green and not black, however people rare free .Chabad are not all(cha) bad I suppose ,although I do not really have much to do with them.If they save a few confused kids from drugs and crime then that must be a good thing, but one can say the same about the Salvation Army and mother Theresa.
11. Mayor Bloomberg - a Disgrace to Jews/NY/Israel
Hinda ,   SF Bay Area   (11.29.08)
To Mayor Bloomberg, you have forgotten your heritage. You have also forgotten who has been doing the attrocities around the world, even attacking the city you govern. By giving the Muslims the 12th of October to have their "Muslim Day" is a disgrace and just another excuse to appease terrorists. The people in India were targeted because they were JEWS first and then because some were Americans/Britains. Enough with the appeasing!!!
12. Chabad & IDF
Élan ,   Haifa   (11.29.08)
There will have been hundreds if not thousands of Chayalim in Chabad Houses this past Friday night. No not in Israel but in far flung places of the world. Jason needs to go to Thailand, Sydney, Hong kong and experience a shabbos amongst other soldiers many of whom have come from religious homes, and others just like Jason.

Messianic sub-group - which constitutes less than 10% of their membership. The Lubavich Rebbe made, in my opinion, a mistake in not refuting such claims when they started surfacing - but by then he'd started his push to move authority to the local community Rabbis, preparing Chabad for his eventual demise - he couldn't quite stop that. But you, Jason... I pray in a Chabad synagogue here in Lod. It's the closest Ashkenazi one I have. Do you know what the percentage of people in it who served, and serve, in the army? 99%, Rabbi included. He got called in during Operation Shield Wall as well. And he's a Kfar Chabad yeshiva student who went to the army after his studies, just for your information. No, Chabad don't stand up during the memorial day sirens - they keep the religious memorials for the fallen, of which you probably don't even know of. It's an argument as old as the country regarding which date should be more important - the secular don't keep the religious memorials for the fallen, and the religious don't keep the secular-national days... so who's right? Dunno. All I know is, both give the respect the fallen are due in their own way. And yes, they study through Independence Day. They think that having a day off during secular holidays is a waste of precious time best spent in study, instead of turning it into a BBQ Day like the rest do. Look to your own backyard about keeping the *meaning* of Independence Day alive. Chabad fly the Israeli flag, by the way - not sure where you found the one kid who didn't like it among them. You heard students call female soldiers whores? Too bad for them, then. Did you try talking to their teacher? Thought not. Too stuck in your stereotypes to bother. And Chabad contribute to Israel far more than you do, it would seem, because your only support for your country is calling for people to die for it, forgetting all the while what is that people here died *for*. What's being Jewish for you, Jason? Living in Israel and dying in it? That's all? Chabad give physical and above all moral support to our troops, among whom I happen to serve just now. I'm all in favor of more Charedim serving in the army - just as soon as the army bothers to make a place for them! The Nahal Haredi is a success story, and yet the army is almost ready to break it apart. The only place where I've seen an actual effort to integrate Haredi recruits in the army so far is in the technical support units of the IAF - a personal project of the current IAF commander. And still, by and large, Chabad constitute the majority of the Charedim who sign up anyway and live through the double hardship of serving in a secular army that doesn't care all that much for their needs. And no, they don't dodge the draft. It's one of those legal things we have around here, you see. People who "dodge the draft" do so *against* the law, not with its approval. And as for the act in Mumbai... worse has happened here, in Israel. Where it's supposedly safe for us to be. They could have died just as easily here, in the exact same circumstances. They died in that terrible tragedy in Mumbai because they were openly Jewish - what's your solution, not to have people who are openly Jewish? They set up the Chabad House in Mumbai to give shelter and support to the horde of Jewish (mainly Israeli soldiers after the service ends) tourists, to which many of them are very much grateful. For most, it is their first encounter with Judaism - which ironically happens outside Israel's borders. Think about that. And remember that having a Jewish homeland is all fine and good - just as long as we remember what it is to be Jewish in the first place.
