9. Get A Life!

MP Dr. Hamdi Hassan really needs to get a life. How can anyone take the Arabs seriously when they are this petty? The world has more important things to focus on than infantile behavior like this.
10. Peaceniks, Muslim and Jewish, risk life and reputation
David Turner ,   Richmond, USA   (12.07.08)
Two religious leaders recently appearing in the press deserve the collective thanks of all Muslims and Jews. Instead they are criticized and marginalized. Rabbi Menachem Froman, a founding member of Gush Emunim and a teacher at Tekoa and other West Bank seminaries, reportedly had a personal relationship with Arafat and with Hamas’ Sheikh Yassin aimed at conciliation and understanding between our peoples. And now Sheikh Muhammad Sayyed Tantawi of Egypt’s al-Azhar University, an institution not known for its friendliness towards Israel, is photographed warmly embracing Israel’s President Peres, a gesture intended to promote conciliation and understanding across the irrational gulf. Two clerics, two fundamentalists, one Jew, one Muslim, reaching across the abyss between their peoples, acting to build a bridge to peace; both ostracized from within their own communities. As if to highlight their courage and commitment, the risks they face for their efforts, just last week Yigal Amir, inspired by radical religious leaders to murder Yitzhak Rabin, another advocate of peace and conciliation, went on a hunger strike to protest the conditions of his confinement! For myself I wish to register my gratitude and admiration for these two who likely see themselves as simply doing the right thing, serving their communities and their neighbors. But in the volatile atmosphere which surrounds them they are far more than simply persons of conscience and faith, they are symbols of peace. And as symbols they are more at risk than was Rabin because there was no precedent for the murder of Israel’s prime minister by a Jew. But, as Shoah points to a possibility realized and precedent, so does the murder of Rabin represent possibility realized and precedent. The risk is real and palpable, and I thank both for their courage.

David, please stay in Richmond....you have no clue as to whats going on down here and should keep shum! Peres has escalated the war waged on Israel by Arabs....not created any peace! He has ruined Israels deterrence values by releasing thousands of terrorists, for nothing in return. He received a nobel peace prize with his best buddy, Arafat, that stole Billions from his people. Peres is a traitor that caused the unnecessary deaths of thousands of Israeli through his bogus peace plan with terrorist Arabs that want Israel destroyed. He wont accept Oslo was a failure. There is no Palastinian people, just displaced Arabs..................... and no Arab called himself a Palastinian until Peres allowed Arafat to come from Tunis in 67"and create this myth. If you dont believe me then go read the PA Charter that clearly calls for Israels destruction......it hasnt changed since conception!

13. a muslim handshake or the kiss of death

I think that the verbal tradition should be put into law. Any Jew or any other decent human being should wash his hand not seven, but seventy times -- Any creed, religion,or entity who believes ,embraces, teaches children that honor killing, live beheading, stoning, blaspheming is what faith is all about,is nothing but one of Satan's favorite. The fascinating part, is that the "believers" pray to, and act upon Allah's wishes.
14. IN the name of ALLAH, the MERCIFUL

Rushdie"s book -- Newsprint of Allah with a bomb -- handshake between sheik Tantawi and President Peres; And the entire MUSLIM world is in uproar....! blasphemy, traitor,an afront to the Koran, death to non believers, and other such niceties..........! BUT, when 10's of thousands are massacred throughout the world by demented sons of Allah,( young, old, jews, muslims, christians, children, anything goes ) A miracle, the Arab world, the Muslim world, not a sound. You can hear the sand shifting in the arabian desert. I am not an expert, I am only assuming that's Allah's will. I remember seeing MGM's Gun Ga Din and was under the impression that KALI was the only God of death. Ah, what a movie.

I am not entirely disagreeing with your analysis of Peres. But where in my writing did you assume it was he I was promoting? Should you read it again you might conclude, as I just did in its rereading that, as I had intended, I was appreciative that Sheikh Tantawi had the courage to go beyond what he must have known would be universal criticism, to say nothing of a possible fatwa, for his singular act of shaking the Israeli presidents hand. I went on to describe another, person, he a rabbi, who also has the courage of his convictions, accepts the risk to stand up for his ideals. While I am not in particular a fan of Yasin or Arafat, the point is that Rabbi Froman deserves our respect for the courage he displays. Unlike so many of our anonymous talkbackers who do not even have the courage to identify themselves. From your tone I can only assume that your criticism was inspired not by what you attacked me on, by assumed support of Peres, but rather by my reference to Yigal Amir and the safely anonymous radical rabbis who were his inspiration to murder. If so, I stand by what I wrote. Amir is a coward and a murder and deserves a far more stringent punishment than Israel meted out to him. Certainly no conjugal visits, dvd or radio for that matter. Let him spend the remainder of his small life sitting quietly in a darkened cell reflecting constantly on his act of betrayal the our state which you energetically defend, and to our people. But then, perhaps you did not have that particular coward in mind as you wrote.... perhaps it really was what you describe as my betrayal of Israel and my people?
16. That senile guy should be dismissed
Leyla ,   Beirut   (12.08.08)
Because not only he lied Not knowing who the Killer of Qana tragedy was , he also said he was not aware there was a siege on Gaza (for the last 2 years ) the guy should not be at the top of AL Azhar. I m not against peace with israel I just want Occupation to end FIRST i want the 700 Checkpoints to be demolished first , I want the IOF to stop shooting at children playing football or cycling etc.. then May be i can consider Peace . this Guy is the reflection of the Dictators who are there for the Paychecks and perks and not worried about Islamic Issues . If it was up to me I would have already dismissed him a long long time ago (his comments have been scandalous for a long time ) i lift my hat to father Attallah Hana (christian) and father Shnouda (christian in egypt ) who refuse to normalize with the Israelis until Freedom . I respect the christian leaders a lot more than leader of AL Azhar
