31. To Jerrold #4. Belligerent Towards Israel.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (12.13.08)
You say :”.. (Israel should be ) simply kicked out of the UN ..” Jerrold, your above statement shows that you are quite belligerent towards Israel. That’s why Israel should NOT listen to you. ON the contrary, Israel should try to defeat you, should try to tackle you. Being an enemy of Israel -- the USA should keep a close watch on you.
32. Peres is overstepping the bounds of his job
Laura ,   Israel   (12.13.08)
The office of Presidency in Israel has always been a non-political preserve. Peres, by interfering with the Israeli political enterprise, has seriously breached the scope of his job. He has done so much damage to this nation since his meddling with the Oslo accords. His latest increased interference has only made matters much worse. He should be summarily dismissed and retired.
33. Shimon Peres an embarressment
Reuven ,   Petach Tikvah   (12.13.08)
Quite apart from anything else Shimon Peres is abusing the role of President of the State. An Israeli presidents needs to be impartial and non-controversial. If Peres wants to comment on serious political issues then the office of the president is not the forum. His constant interference is political issues has to stop. I hope that when there is a new prime minister in February, he or she will insist that Shimon Peres behaves in a manner that does honor to the position of State President. An Israeli president should be a president of the people and not present either left or right political opinions. Perhaps the way of selecting a president should be taken away from the Knesset, to a wider committee that will enable more non political people to hold this important position.
34. Delusions?
Ran   (12.14.08)
Surely you're not implying Peres is insane? No, it couldn't be... On the other hand... The things he has said... Peres, insane? O my goodness, the author's right - he IS deluded! He IS insane!
35. Saher, How about you read history
Daniel ,   Formerly Israel   (12.14.08)
We came here by with the British, as you say, and that gave us more rights than you, because the British owned the land then, and the Turks before them. The Arabs had not owned Palestine for three hundred years by the time we got there. And if you want to talk about ancient claims, ours goes all the way back to about 3,000 B.C., so don't do that. Besides, we sined an Agreement in 1920 with King Faisal, in which he agreed to give the Jews all of modern Palestine and Jordan (which was at the time also part of Palestine). He then decided not to honor that agreement, and we had to make a lot of concessions and ended up with about 12% of what we had originally been promised, and you got the rest. But you didn't even let us have that. You got a state in 1947 too, but you didn't even declare independence, you just attacked us. Then gaza was occupied by Egypt for 19 years. You didn't complain so much about how ocupation is illegal back then, you helped the Egyptians try to attack us in 1967. That's why you ended up occupied by us, and now you complain. In the words of Abba Eban, you are like the boy who killed his parents and complains because he is an orphan.
36. To Daniel #35. Great TB. VERY Interesting.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (12.14.08)
The signed Agreement of 1920 AD with King Faisal is interesting. THAT means that the presently known Royal Kingdom of Jordan actually belongs to the State of Israel -- is Israel's possession. VERY interesting.
