1. bravo, right to the point.
fish israel   (12.15.08)
We have become a pathetic country, where generals are finghting for peace and their future sinecures in state companie instead of protecting Israel, where politicians steal money and don't even go to jail, where PM goes to police stations for interrogations like a low criminal, where police don't catch criminals and don't break the backbone of Israeli crime syndicates but run after helpless Russo-Jewish millionaires, who found refuge in Israel, and became pawns of the Kremlin power games, and Israel plays alongside these games. When do we wake up, fellow Israelis? How come that people may seriously consider people like Barak to be leaders? How can you tolerate these slogans on the buses - Bibi? I don't trust him? Why do you have such short memory? Why?Why?
2. Excellent article - can be used against
Millie ,   Israel   (12.15.08)
the politicization of our defense establishment. The IDF no longer has a mind and soul of its own. It has sold out to the jaded political left. This truly was not Rabin's legacy. It is the unfortunate legacy of Peres, Beilin, Ayalon, Olmert, Livni and Barak.
3. Barak should be forced to resign.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (12.15.08)
That Barak is still DM is the perfect example of the paralysis gripping our political establishment. It is also an indictment of our political system that people with a record of one failure after the other somehow remain in high gov't. positions. Our system evidently rewards failure.
4. asset
colin   (12.15.08)
The groveling cowardly minister of jewish evictions must be court marshalled. His cowardly traiterous acts have turned the IDF into puppets of politicians There is no defence in Israel The tiny police force are underpaid. The writer has printed the absolute truth Pity the twisted bias Israeli media does not approve of his truth.
5. barak and olmert
alexi   (12.15.08)
The holocaust dead, 6 millioin can thank Alicia Olmert for supporting her husband Ehud in ripping off the dead adn other charities to the tune of 85,000 according to the AG.Way to go Alicia. Whatever heroic deeds Barak has done, he has been just a lousy rotten general, do nothing sit on his rear end general the IDF hates him. The 2 ehuds go well together as the two worst PMs in israel's history who have surrendered the state.
6. Barak a Hamas ass #3 Terry
Yonatan ,   Jerusalem   (12.15.08)
have you no faith at all in our highly decorated Defense Minister Ehud Barak who all his life has unselfishly defended his people and land who fearlessly leads his troops into combat, give the man room to manoeuver please.
7. BArak is not the problem, its the leftist media and courts..
Freejew ,   Israel   (12.15.08)
That have supported and promoted this man, just like they prop up Olmert. LivnimPalastinians, and anyone else that wants to destroy ISrael!
8. Labor and Kadima are terrorist assets
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (12.15.08)
Both parties and their 'leadership' need to disappear. Peres, Barak, and Livni has caused this problem. We need people like Begin and Feiglin to fix it
9. to no 6
fish israel   (12.15.08)
No we won't give Barak room for any manoeuvre, he already made a great manoeuvre in Lebanon, for which the whole country paid in 2006. Why on Earth should we suffer for his decorations?
10. The leadership has sold out the county's interests.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (12.15.08)
It's easier to tell the public that 'we will make this a fun place to live in,' than it is to say we still have days of blood, sweat and tears ahead of us. It's not the public that has grown tired. Operation Defensive Shield and the Second Lebanon War proved that. It's the leadership that has sold out the county's interests for the sake of its own. Saying a solution can be reached at this points is belittling of the concept of 'peace'. It's creating a golden calf." The word “Peace” has permeated the democaties, but there is no peace as explained at : http://xrl.us/ostjf
11. Barak laziness and "courage"
DT ,   TA Isr   (12.15.08)
More like he lost his "thimble" of courage somewhere early on .
12. Very well said! Barak has to go!
D   (12.15.08)
13. #6, it's been a long time since
Danny   (12.15.08)
he "unselfishly defended his people" probably on the order of 30 years. He was a disaster as chief of Staff and the worst PM Israel ever had.

Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (12.15.08)
Barak does not lead, he hides behind others. In Sultan Yaakoub battle, Barak took leave while his soldiers were kidnaped. In Joseph's Tomb, Madhat Yussuf bled to death while Barak chatted on the phone with his buddy Jibril Rajoub. Barak moved from the border town of Kohav Yair to central Tel Aviv, and then started advocating transfer of Jews from their home in Samaria. In 2000, Barak was responsible for the 12 deaths of Arab citizens in the Iron Valley riots, but then abandoned the shooting police officers to the courts. Barak did not take any responsibility for the IDF defeat at the hands of the Hezbolla, although he betrayed the SLA allowing Hezbolla to grow strong.
15. It's Bibi Time!!!
GloomBoom.com ,   Nashville, TN, USA   (12.15.08)
Time for Netanyahu. With all his problems he is still the best one for Israel. Remember, Obama is on the way.....
16. a bunch of fascists here!
gideon ,   tel aviv, israel   (12.15.08)
Ehud Barak is the most decorated general in Israel's history. How dare you call him a coward or an asset for Hamas? You may not agree with him but it doesn't change the fact that he gave his best for israel. Bibi on the other hand cares about himself alone, not about the country. Vote for Livni. that's what I will do.
17. gideon #16 so what
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (12.15.08)
I spent as much time in the military as Barak did. He wasn't a very good general. And you can take his decorations and put them where the sun doesn't shine. He ran away in Lebanon, he has done nothing to defend Israel. He uses the IDF to attack Jews. He is an idiot. Kadima will give away the Golan, Jerusalem, Judea and Samria and then wonder why the Arabs still attack. Just because we choose to fight back doesn't make us fascist, just smarter than most of Tel-Aviv.
18. Barak should be tried next time he arrives in ISRAEL!
Sarah   (12.16.08)
19. "Gave" his best for Israel
Elianah ,   Ramat HaSharon, IL   (12.16.08)
That's the problem, Barak gave his best for Israel. Now he either has nothing left to give or just doesn't want to do the giving. He's only a hair better than Amir Peretz in this post. Can we get a defense minister who actually understands something about defense? Also, for Barak to continue talking about a "truce" while rockets hit the south is insulting to our intelligence.
20. Barak =Renegade. Since his PM times.
Joo. ,   Eurabia.   (12.16.08)
21. #15 Re. It's Bibi Time
Esther ,   Ofarim, Israel   (12.16.08)
Do you really think that's a good thing? Bibi's stint as PM before Barak was at best lamentable. Together with Barak he's right up there on the list of worst PMs. Maybe he learned from his mistakes - his recent stunt to bump Feiglin down on the Likud list sort of moots that point. Bibi is just as much as a failed, yet recycled leader as Barak. Nothing to celebrate here.
22. "Soldier 1" and dumb Israelis
Joo ,   Eurabia   (12.16.08)
I recall as during TV show some years ago before elections, this guy Barak was asked what would he be if he was a Palestinian. He replied " a terrorist" He's idiot, isn't it? But how he came to power? Not by democratic elections? Israelis are really have a leaders they deserve...
23. "HOW He Came To Power?"
Lawrence Tendler ,   Safed Israel   (12.16.08)
It's not WHAT you know but rather WHO that matters here ,my friend,a kind of ex-army old boys network which has little to do with merit per se.
