Beilin continues to ignore reality and think that Israel can simply sign a peace treaty with the PLO to create the independent state of Palestine in the west bank. But this leaves the independent stateless enclave of Gazastan or Hamastan in the Gaza Strip. And, with Hamas in control of the PA legislature and most likely the PA presidency in another month or two, it renders more or less totally useless Beilin's entire premise of peace with a Fatah controlled Palestinian entity. Fatah no longer controls the Palestinians. The Fatah leadership never bothered to end their incipient corruption. They've done little to convince the Palestinian populace that they could run a country. On the other hand, Hamas has pretty much shown that it couldn't run a modern country if it tried, however, Hamas is happy to run a welfare state funded by Iran. Beilin, it seems, simply can't deal with the reality of the situation not jiving with his wishes for peace. We all wish for peace, but not at a price that almost guarantees a future war.

The lull in Gaza, like the Oslo Accords with Mr Arafat, is proving to be a fiction, but the Israeli government doesn't understand that yet, and neither does the world. The Oslo Agreements were born in sin and brought only death, pain and sorrow… After the horrible mistakes they commited as a result of their total lack of vision, Peres and Beilin should keep away of politics and Media. Only a peace process with the acceptance by the Arabs to be resettled in other Arab countries had a chance to bring peace to the region. Financial compensations would be the main reason for the Arabs to accept their resettlement. The best solution for the Arabs would be to leave the borders of “greater Israel,” so that Israel could then annex the West Bank and perhaps Gaza.
