Ypip ,   Canada   (01.05.09)
Eliminate hamas! Nuetrilizing something is like what happened to Ripley after the gene-pool. What a dumbass thing you say! ELIMINATE hamas. That is the focus here. Kill it! And knock it off with giving it an initial capital letter.
2. oh, please do not
observer 2 ,   world wide   (01.05.09)
do not let this chance to speedup the beggining of the end of israel pass by.....
3. Mr. Olmert....Are you out of your mind...!!!!
Simha ,   Toronto, CANADA   (01.05.09)
4. terror from Gaza will not stop
(01.05.09)
it is Hamas raison d'etre. it is the Palestinians raison d'etre
5. Mr. Olmert
chan ,   eretz yisroel   (01.05.09)
We already saw the results of your ceasefire agreement in Lebanon -- international monitors who have not been able to stop the most massive deadly rocket build-up in history. Your capitulation to, and fear of the nations, is endangering the lives of millions. How long must we suffer under your likes?
6. Stupid, stupid politicians
Shiloh   (01.05.09)
Why will you listen to Esav? They hate Yaakov!!! You are falling into the trap of Esav and Ishmael who want to destroy Yaakov. Wake up you three stooges.
7. why snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?
Danny   (01.05.09)
we had all of this crap in Lebanon - useless international force that was meant to stop the military buildup. All of it a complete waste of time. Only one force should be in Gaza - the IDF
8. Already resigned, but still looking to shove it up Israel..
Ozraeli ,   Australia   (01.05.09)
This failed idiot brought on the current situation, has already resigned, should have "Stood aside" for public decency and democratic integrity, and will be out of power in 5-6 weeks (unless he deperately manages to hang on some more, by delaying elections). At the last moment, he is still trying to 'Create facts" by implanting his self destructive lunacies. Inviting international involvement into a tiny (360 km/2) enclave like Gaza, stuck between 2 recognised, much larger States is like inviting a violent, drug dealing kleptomaniac to live with you. Aside from anything else, it is the perpetual Israeli "Looking for friarim" (suckers) to do the job for you. No self respecting state would even contemplate this, or reduce its freedom and options. This is exactly like he promoted "Disengagement" from the West Bank in the midst of Lebanon II. Does he never learn? If international forces had been brought in in 2006 (as he lobbied), where would we be now? The best thing he has done recently is to shut up. I can even possibly understand a joint Israeli/Egyptian Protecterate (after eradicating Hamas there), but this lunacy is beyond stupidity-it is perfidity. The EU and Quartet have their own Middle Eastern agenda, based on their own large Muslim populations. Allmerde will leave Israel truncated, castrated, and bifurcated. It will be the beginning of the end of Israel as an independent Jewish State PLEASE, shut him up and get him out of office already!
9. Attack, Attack, Attack.... Absolutely NO Ceasefire !
Kenny Solomon ,   South Florida, USA   (01.05.09)
Do not stop until the last of the animals are no longer breathing.
10. Get rid of Olmert and his government
Alkalai ,   Disgust   (01.05.09)
Israel, get rid of these unfit idiots in government- any way you must.
11. OLMERT ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? STUPID QUESTON
meir   (01.05.09)
Olmert please just go to jail before you do any more damage
12. Israel's conditions "not negotiable" - Yes!
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (01.05.09)
This is what we want to hear. This is what happens when Israel is not "tired of winning", stands its ground, and tells the world to to stick it. If Olmert pulls this off, I'll finally have something nice to say about him.
13. olmert should shut his yap
Mark Katzman ,   San Francisco, USA   (01.05.09)
olmert is simply the dumbest person I've ever read about. What constitutes an end to terror-a 10 min. lull in missile launchings?
14. great point #6
AY_Lamb ,   USA   (01.05.09)
15. Soooo, Olmert is still tired of winning.
AK   (01.05.09)
Which brings forth an important question: why did you send that young soldier to his death and other young soldiers to be wounded, if you never had any intention to win? How dare you to treat those young lives like chips in a poker game. Next time, send your own children.
16. Olmert you FOOL. UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER is the ONLY answer
dr. dave ,   nyc   (01.05.09)
For God's sake and that of the Nation of Israel, someone head to the Knesset and graft a pair of balls onto Olmert/Livni/Barak. How many opportunities like this will Israel have to level one of the ayatollahs' terror machines to the ground??? Are you losers so masochistic, suicidal and addicted to pain that you ALWAYS let your enemies grow and live another day? The Hamas Hate Machine must be destroyed once and for all. FINISH THE FREAKING JOB DOWN TO THE LAST GUNMAN!!!
17. International Forces: The STENCH of another Livni Surrender

Once again the Trio of Defeat want to hand the ayatollahs another clear victory!
18. This is what I am afraid of
Ralph levy ,   USA   (01.05.09)
Put Abbas in power or a UN group in there that will fail miserably. http://ralphsrant1.blogspot.com

lion in the South War. Is there to be no appreciation for him for such a difficult time as Prime Minister?
20. Reasonable position. Allows war to continue, for now...
Daniel ,   Los Angeles, USA   (01.05.09)
This is a balanced position. Hamas is hard pressed. As Hamas should be...
21. this proposal is a non starter Hamas wont agre
zionist forever   (01.05.09)
Hamas will never agree to any ceasefire that doesn't allow them to save face and agreeing to stop smuggling would be unacceptable to them. Even the idea of an international force which is going to tell them what the do they would find hard to accept. We will not allow outsiders to stop our right to resistance etc. They will never agree to release Gilad Shalit as part of any ceasefire it would be seen as weak. Lets even say they agreed to this whats to stop them breaking the agreement if and when it suits them? Hamastan is not an independent state, you can't pass UN resolutions condeming it, you cant use economic sanctions of any kind because they don't export anything. The only solution would be force. The international monitoring force would never get into a major fire fight with Hamas. They don't want to become part of this conflict if they don't deal with it then Israel willl have to either accept it and do nothing or start another war which it won't do... and we can't rely on Fatah who dont want to get into gun battles with Hamas because they are fring on Israel. As for threatening Hamas accept our terms or the international community will back a continuation of the war will turn the whole thing around because Hamas will call Olmerts bluff and when the international community starts trying to force a ceasefire onto Israel again Hamas will have won. Only make threats if you know you can or will keep them if not then if they call your bluff you loose and we have another 1701 on our hands and a war that we has been going well so far will leave us the loosers again because we accepted a bad political solution.
22. Sounds familiar.
Jewish Refugee ,   U.S.A.   (01.05.09)
International forces, stop military build up, stop rocket attacks, Just like the treaty that was made after the end of the Lebanese War. International forces only eat falafel while Hezbollah is rearming under their supervision to a degree even higher before the war started. Lebanon has become a terrorist state under the international supervision. Do we want the same thing in Gaza? Perhaps Olmert, Livni, and Barak do. But not us. http://israelactnow.blogspot.com/
23. Consider this:
Alkalai ,   Disgust   (01.05.09)
If a man is evil enough to steal from the mouths of starving children and the needy, then what makes you think he would not betray you, and sell out his own country? If this same man positions and surrounds himself with other evil men, what makes you think they would do any different? If you allow this man to continue in his evil, then what does that make you?
24. If we ELIMINATE Hamas there will be no need for this treaty
Steve   (01.05.09)
25. Where was this Olmert 2 years ago?
Sean ,   Leeds   (01.05.09)
This is what I like to hear, Israel telling the international community what IT WANTS for a cease-fire. I've read the above comments and I think we need to put aside our automatic hatred for Olmert and the rest. So far they have handled the war perfectly and setting our own terms for a ceasefire that are infact surrender terms Hamas must agree to rather than a compromise is the way forward. Gaza isn't the 'west bank' and suicide bombers aren't infiltrating from there so there's no need to risk lives in needless fighting in refugee camps. Especialy as we'll be warning the hamas which areas will be attacked to save 'civilina' lives. I haven't forgiven Olmert or Livni for their idiocy during the Lebanon war, nor Kadima for having Peretz as defence minister, nor for allowing Hamas to build its army but lets accept the gov't are handling the war and intl pressure well and lets aim to bring the troops home ASAP.
26. international forces in gaza
sam ,   usa   (01.05.09)
is olmert calling for the same international forces that he brought to gaza? will he call next for the same forces to protect knesset? If you let this corrupt idiot decide then it will come to pass. What international forces will fight to the death against hamass? Why should they if olmert will not?
27. Don’t talk to Hamas - destroy it
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (01.05.09)
Hamas's refusal to even pretend that it is willing to live at peace with Israel is what distinguishes it from Fatah. And the Palestinians' embrace of Hamas after Israel withdrew from Gaza demonstrated that the withdrawal increased the popularity of the prospect of continuous war against Israel among the Palestinians. There should be no truce with Hamas and the pressure should remain heavy. Israel should make no concessions : You do not talk to terrorists, you fight and defeat them. More about hamas at : http://xrl.us/bebh94
28. What does Horticulture and Warfare have in common?
Lior ,   Israel   (01.05.09)
WEEDS. If one does not pluck ones garden of weeds, weeds take over. Plucking one or two does NOTHING. Problem here in Israel is we the people failed to pluck the weeds in our government and the government did not do their job to pluck evil weeds weeds ie: their enemies. BTW: Nor did they turn a blind eye to the international community to be sufficient enough to do the job of cleansing the take over of weeds. Now we see International pressure so great it is almost impossible to ignore. And for those who think George Bush was such a great friend by simply saying Hamas is a terrorist organization think again!! The U.S is leading the wolves of the international community to enforce a cease-fire/phony truce! Even on the knee jerk, cry baby, leftist Haaretz there was a piece questioning the fact the U.S has not even come close to including the best interests of Israel within the truce they are working on. Who is a friend who talks from both sides of their mouths calling the virulently evil Hamas terrorists and then pushing for a truce before HAMAS IS WIPED OFF THE MAP? (exactly like Hamas wishes for Israel) There are three varieties of weeds in this garden. Israeli weak government, International protests from world leaders and the U.S who is taking advantage of our weakness while at the same time appeasing all the wrong people. In the mean time I don't hear a word from george bush calling for a truce with al-queada or the Taliban! end. (sorry for the length of this post)
29. and even worse
chan ,   eretz yisroel   (01.05.09)
The public knows that an international force is a farce that will allow a greater, dealier build-up of terror and arms -- what they may not know is that with an international force Israel is virtually saying goodbye to its ability to go in an do something -- ala Lebanon.
30. Based on other reports, I now say "no deal"
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (01.05.09)
Haaretz suggests the ceasefire would be based on that established with Lebanon in 1996, but we know how well that one turned out. It still leaves Hamas in control with whatever military leadership and arms survive the conflict, and there's no mention of Shalit. If such is the proposed deal, Olmert will have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
