Betting many of the "casualties" are fabricated ones .Can you really believe Hamas, they can easily fake them or give exaggerated numbers. Second if Hamas would come out and fight like men and not hide behind women and children we coudl much better assist them to get to their heaven and give them their much touted martyrdom. How can you fight cowards who hide behind civilians? I have a simple solution to the rocket problem. Its unfortunately not the high moral road but the terrorists certainly don't care about who they target ,in fact they go out of their way to kill innocent civilians with their suiciide bombers and random rocket fire and of course the UN does nothing. about that paper lion that it is. My simple solution. Move up Israel artillery close to Gaza and fire it into their cities at random. You can be "porportionate " and if they fire say 20 rockets you fire 20 rounds at them. And you make no bones about the fact that it is random and may or may not kill indescriminately. Then let the joke that is the UN stop both sides from firing on each other.Or let Hamas stop firing. This also means no Israeli soldiers will be lost. I also doubt the current campaign will do anything in the long run to stop Hamas. And have to add that israel needs to hire some better PR people. International law states that terror groups who operate from civilian quarters are guilty of "perfidy" and are responsible for any civilian casualties on their side. Obviously, Hamas commits double war crimes by behaving this way and by raining missles purposely on Israeli civilians.

I understand your pity for Palestinians. It is indeed a disgrace that innocent civilians and especially children die, during any conflict and not just this one. But is the blood really on Israeli hands? Is it not Hamas that chooses to fire their rockets from schools and other civilian areas? They know that civilian deaths at the hands of our army will spark criticism and condemnation from humanitarians. But their aim is not to scare the army from firing at terrorists. They know very well that Israel will respond anyways. They know that those civilians they use as 'shields' will die. In fact, their aim is to kill those innocents. Why? Because people like yourself will react and protest against Israel. For them it is no longer a war for land or freedom, it is more of a show where human lives are used to boost their rating. Israel hosts some of the most humane people on Earth, your article being a testament to that, and there are protests within the country. But those protests are a victory for Hamas, and as they see that, they will continue to put the lives of innocents, sometimes their own children, on the line. If you have any pity for those children, you should condemn Hamas, not the Israeli army which so far has tried to minimize the civilian death toll with some success. 300 might seem like a large number, but there are 1.5 million people in Gaza, and the army can easily destroy most of them was it their aim. Compare the number to that of missiles launched by Israel and you will see that it took more than one to kill a single person. Less efficient than a knife, in terms of killing. Still, the war has to go on, not because we like it, but because this is the only way to bring the end to Hamas' evil and peace to both Israelis and Palestinians. As we have seen, negotiations and truces don't work with them. Not surprising, since they don't risk their lives, but rather kill their own brothers to get more money from humanitarian support. I hate war as anyone would, but avoiding it in this situation will only bring more pain and death.
