3. Livni asking time from international community
epro ,   Finland   (01.10.09)
Here is the foreign minister of sovereign Israel asking or, should we say begging time, from international community, who knows, what is it, to wage war.
4. You Should Not Be Asking International
Lawrence ,   Safed Israel   (01.10.09)
Community for anything.Has Livni learned nothing? just shut your gob and do what you have to do.
5. A New Golda Meir?
Jason   (01.10.09)
Tzipi Livni, as the war against TERROR continues, is more and more proving to be a great Leader, (mould) upon the way, the path marked by the Great Golda Meir. Our Enemy ARE NOT the People Of Gaza! Our Enemy IS the ENEMY of The People Of Gaza! The Abomina bly savage and inhumane, the Terrorists , Shiite Agents, Hamas! The Enemy of the People of Gaza, the Hamas Terrorists ARE the Enemies of Israel! The Enemies of the People of Gaza, ARE the Enemies of the World! Hamas Only friends and allies are the people the work for. Their Mullah Shiite terrorist Masters in Tehran. The Faqscists who want extra time BEFORE they have their Nuclear bomb! The Mullahas are using their agents, the Mullahs to divert attention from what they are doing. The Nuclear bomb, with which they will bring about their much vaunted holocaust! Tzipi Livni, Is to be Highly commended not only by the People of Israel, BUT the Whole World. Tzipi....keep up the superbly humane work againt the World Terror! One day, hopefully soon, the Entire Planet will come to appreciate what you, your Government, and the Rest of the Good people of Israel, above all the Glorious IDFs , are doing!
6. I agree with # 1
Richard ,   Amsterdam Holland   (01.10.09)
Asking for understanding and more time are not the right words, since Israel cannot ask for understanding in the first place. So it showed during the last 60 years.
7. Livni impresses me yet again
Avinoam ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (01.10.09)
Finally a politician that can state things as they are without alienating the international community (which is necessary) but still committed to the necessary actions for maintaining a secure state. She faces much criticism on the left and the right, quite unfairly I think. She seems quite honest and straightforward in her agenda. Fight when it is sensible to fight but pursue peace where it is possible. This just makes sense. Those that criticise her capabilities. Well, what more can she do than what she is doing now? (Apart from improving her English.)
8. Proud

I am Proud to say that I stand with Israel
9. I like this article and LIVNI is DOING FINE for Israel :-)

10. International support
David   (01.10.09)
When Israel left Gaza Tzipi and Co. were saying that after relinquishing Gaza Israel would have full international support if Israelis ever had to defend themselves. Needless to say that expectation has been proven completely wrong first in Lebanon and now in Gaza. What makes her think that after leaving Judea and Samaria or Golan the situation would be any different? The only difference is that the entire country, every inch of it, would be like Sderot under continuous rocket attacks.. How can someone who aspires to be a leader of Israel be so stupid, naive or suicidal? The only hope is that the Israeli electorate will be smarter than their leaders and won't allow them to make a bad situation worse by repeating the same mistakes.
11. To hell with the 'International Community'...
David ,   Hartford USA   (01.10.09)
They did NOTHING for all the YEARS Hamas lobbed rockets and mortars into Israel, killing and maiming men, women and children. Israel need not ask anyone for permission to protect itself from self-proclaimed psychopaths. To all the self-righteous mouthpieces, whether politicians or musicians or actors, stick it! After being distracted by your noise for years, Israel has found its way, again. No ceasefire until Hamas is crushed. G-d Bless the IDF and give Olmert, Livni, and Barak the courage and strength to see this most honorable mission to its conclusion.
12. exit strategy for gaza
egon yunker ,   jerusalem,israel   (01.10.09)
Does anyone out there think the following is a good idea? Lease from Egypt a buffer zone separating Gaza from Egypt and let Israel do the job that Egypt can't.
13. #5 and #7
JAyJay33 ,   Israel   (01.10.09)
What a load of rubbish.....Livni, the queen of appease, emt is a disaster and NOT in charge......she is doing what Olmert is telling her! We can beat 4 nations in 6 days but cant finish off the job in Lebanon and Gazza??? This is clearly a political manipulation by Kadima to try and stall the elections for another 6 months. The government should of gone into GAzza 2 years ago, but waited till just before the elections.....how convenient while SHallit rots away in a hole somewhere! Only leftist fools would ever support the inept Livni or Olmert....a leopard doesnt change its spots!!

17. Kol Hakavod, Gveret Livni! Hamas terrorists...
Flavio ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (01.10.09)
...must be uprooted and stopped for good!!! Let underlying antisemites and whining hypocrites (aka 'international community') complain, Israel must do whatever is needed to ensure the safety of its citizens! Do not forget, the only true friend Israel has in the so called 'international community' are those conscious jews in the Diaspora (USA is a friend, of course, but only to the measure of his own interests - let see what happens when Obama takes his oath next Jan20th).
18. I like Livni! She is a voice of reason

20. Egon #12 has a good idea.
GZ ,   USA   (01.10.09)
Egypt will no doubt reject it offhand. But perhaps with enough international pressure and incentives it may be persuaded.
21. Which side would u support?
Luke ,   USA   (01.10.09)
I'm throwing my hat in with Israel, somebody has to do this job against extremism. Our PC'ness is only emboldening the radicals. They keep seeing us give in to them because of their terror and it makes them think that if they do it enough they can get whatever they want. I say "Take a Stand"

25. gaza offensive
chris moyler ,   london uk   (01.10.09)
Here in the UK the majority of opinion is in favour of the Palestinians, but a minority of those of us here who believe in the Hebrew scriptures, are completely confident that the God of Israel has himself has restored his people to their ancient homeland. He has promised in his sacred word that having gathered the Jewish people for a SECOND time, they will NEVER again be scattered. Those who align themselves with the destruction of Israel will find themselves fighting against the Lord himself. We pray that the IDF and the govt conduct themselves in a manner worthy of the "firstborn among all the nations." Israel must never be anti-arab or anti Palestinian. It must ruthlessly deal with any racism within it, for it is STILL called to be, and still is, "a blessing to all the nations", and racism is a disgrace to any nation-especially Israel. She must however be completely unwavering in her stand against terrorism in all it's forms. Do all you can to protect the civilian population of Gaza, but stay and finish the job Israel!! Hamas is no good to anyone, especially to the people of Gaza. We are with you. We "will not stop praying for the peace of Jerusalem". God bless you Israel!
26. #25-BBC&Guardian like U 2 think opinion is in favour of Pals

27. livni and reality
marcel   (01.10.09)
Livni is improving, she is getting better. But the fact is she ran around with Condi and shliemiel olmert playing monopoly with israel lives and acting dumb about isreal security. Arabs can never be responsible for israeli security-witness Egypt laziness and complicity in tunnels, and UN arab response which is genetically anti-isrreal even while some of them cheer israel on in private. Smash every iranian outpost in gaza and remove all their evidence of plans. Target all their staffers.Sink any iranian boats in gaza waters. Hamas should know that israelis dressed up as arabs will be coming to eliminate them in the hospitals. Watch your backs. All of you including foreign supporters especially a certain doctor from norway will be interviewed. Haniyeh and zohar are on the top list.Give yourselves up or die soon.
28. Stupid
shlomo bin Yatiz ,   Israel   (01.11.09)
hey, I cannot understand how stupid are you all, peace is the only way Israel can continue to live in this environment, we are small country surrounded by enemies, even the one we have a peace treaty with are only years from being overthrown by islamist. it doesn't take more than couple of hours for the entire army of any of these countries to reach Tel Aviv. the missile capabilities of Hamas, Hezbollah will and are improving by the minute, it won't be long before their missiles are much stronger and much accurate, what will we do then, in less than 50 years Arabs from all over the world will have their rockets and missiles well developed and launched from the middle of the pacific and Israel will have nothing to defend itself with, missile shield ? ok what if thousands of these landed in Israel in matter of minutes ? What kind of a shield will be able to stop those? Nuke them ? great , lets give them another reason for killing us as well. Hope you look further than your feet and realize that the US won't be able to mobilize its entire army to defend Israel if the Arab states decided to attack, we are struggling with a gang holding light weaponry and homemade rockets so don’t tell me that we stand a chance if all the Arab nations were united and fighting together. We did put gaza under siege and we did starve its people, we did break the cease fire and now we are believing our own lies that it was Hamas fault. The amount of hate Israel gained in the last couple of weeks is enough to make us think : why and what for , we have the land we want , let’s give the Palestinian a chance to live , maybe they are not as evil as we think they are.
29. Livini: Israel will not show restraint
Dennis P. Habern ,   United States   (01.18.09)
After reading this well-written article, I whole heatedly agree with its contents. A cease-fire only appeases the antics of Hamas to regroup and rearm. With the military defeat (not a diplomatic defeat), this will send a strong message to all terrorist groups that their days are numbered. The Free-World, needs therefore, to band together; be on the same page in determining the swiftest method to rid this planet of the human vermin that infest every country. The days of the dictators and terrorists will terminate, once the inhabitants of these 3rd-World countries do the "Right Thing," by reporting the areas where any suspected terrorist may be hiding. As a whole, any terrorist organization has an agenda to use the meek to fulfill their violent plans. Terrorist organizations never have had the ability to maintain a sustainable form of government, because that is not their advocacy. The are a group of thugs, bent on destroying what Democracy stands for, and by continuous world-agitation, that is their claim to a retard sense of legitimacy that is never recognized. Therefore, Israel must continue the offensive that they did not start. Israel must achieve a total victory on the battlefield, because this entity is the only method that terrorist groups understand: Power. Peace and tranquillity, in the Terrorist World, is not in their vocabulary. Once Democracy retains a profound foothold in the Middle-East, the terrorists, tribal-chiefs, and want-to-be dictators, are finished. That is why Israel is a thorn in the sides of all militant groups; Israel represents the good that can be achieved. It is too bad that Hamas has continued their war against a peace, loving country that Israel represents. Now, with the offensive in full-demeanor, Palestine, under the leadership of Hamas has less resources than what they commenced with, due to the retaliation of the Israeli Army and Air Force. Was that an intelligent decision? Once Hamas has been beaten militarily, they will lose face, and therefore, they will fight to the finish, using the same ideology that the Japanese adopted during World War 2. Thank you. Sincerely Dennis P. Habern, Msgt, USAF, Retired
