Stern is really the pits. Dr Abu-Al-aish is experiencing the most excruciating pain one could imagine. In the wild, even an animal like an elephant would show compassion. This is the worst kind of comment I have ever heard.

Ms, Stern, Israel is occupying Palestine. Give the Palestinians their land back, and there will not be any problem. Even the ANC is saying you people make Apartheid South Africa look like a Sundayschool picnic. You leave, problem solved.

... it's perhaps time for some commentators including Levana Stern to rethink what they've written and said in the heat of war, when emotions ran high, thinking was clouded, and empathy was frozen. I can't and won't accept that people have permanently lost their empathy and humanity, and I'm confident that they'll eventually thaw up, wake up from the nightmare of war, and realize what they've said and done. (I'm not criticizing Op. Cast Lead which I think was inevitable, given Hamas' continuous aggression against innocent civilians; I'm just shocked by the insensitivity of some people in this special tragic case.)

Dr Abuelaish did indeed have that job in Canada. His medical training and international reputation are stellar. He's still here, helping families with infertility issues. His surviving kids are here, too. His book, I Shall Not Hate, came out this year. Read it, as they say, and weep. Too much suffering, too many deaths in the Holy Land. Dr Abuelaish is a friend to the people of Israel and Palestine and is loved by countless people on both 'sides'. May God's blessings be upon him.

I believe that Mrs Stern has reconsidered, though of course (and reasonably) she still supports her sons in the military. Please read Dr Abuelaish's recent book, I Shall Not Hate. He has good feelings towards Mrs Stern. His particular gift, besides his medical service, has been a unswerving conviction that most people are good, that love, not hate will solve the troubles in the Holy Land.

Dr Abuelaish actually ran for office as an independent, so he likely voted for himself. Perhaps by now you've read his book, I Shall Not Hate, and (like me) you've broadened your views of this amazing man. The fact that many once-childless Israeli and Palestinian couples have been able to conceive due to his skill and compassion is testament to his indifference to the 'differences' that so inflame others. His life has been a blessing to more people than anyone can imagine.
