31. Cease-fire in Gaza
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (01.18.09)
The cease-fire in Gaza, like the Oslo Accords with Mr Arafat, is proving to be a fiction, but the Israeli government doesn't understand that yet, and neither does the world. There will never be a "good" time for fighting Hamas. The ability of Hamas to inflict casualties is small. If we can eliminate Hamas, now is the time to do it. Six months ago was much better. As to Hamas grip on Gaza consult : http://xrl.us/oxtnj
32. Operation Can't Lead
Bob O'Really ,   Australia   (01.18.09)
What a joke war mongering Elmar Fudd (Ehud Elmet) and Tipsy Livni are! Now they have bombed the s**t out of Gaza, and killed and injured thousands of innocent pallestinians, they declare a "unilateral" ceasfire, but still occupy and put undersiege the bleeding, starving survivors! Get out NOW you fools! Operation Can't Lead indeed!
33. HUGE WIN 4 HAMAS
Ross ,   USA   (01.18.09)
Yeah, the hamas terrorists will be soooo surprised when they finally come out of their bunkers and see what a glorious win they have bestowed on their people. If this is their idea of a win, I'd hate to see a loss for them. Wake up good people of Palestine. There would be no walls....no checkpoints....no "occupation" if you were a peaceful people. I think the israeli gov't should intensify a campaign to drive this point home....to Palestinians and the rest of the world. Paint the picture of a peaceful existence.....show them path not chosen (until now). Peace
34. Why even publish this garbage????

35. A message to all Israelis
Palestinian   (01.18.09)
Your leaderships is ridiculous. Again, as they did in Lebanon, they claim a false victory. Sadly, the Israeli public has also developed a false sense of security. You build walls around the West Bank hoping that they shield you from the bitter reality you live in. You pound Gaza with a 1,000,000 Kgs of explosives, hoping that hundreds of thousands of your civilians will be able to live without rocket attacks. Ask yourselves, have you really "paved the road" of peace and prosperity for your future generations? Will your grandchildren live in peace? NO! The coming years will be hell for Israel. Israelis need to realize that they are digging Israel's grave. Did the Israelis forget that they assassinated Imad Mughnaya a couple of months ago? Did they forget that Hezbollah has promised to retaliate? Did you forget that Hezbollah amassed more than 40,000 rockets, capable of striking anywhere in Israel, after Lebanon II? Do you not realize that Hamas was able to acquire hundreds of rockets, capable of striking Beersheeva, in only 6 months of calm? Hamas, after this war, will acquire thousands of rockets that will produce hell in any future conflict. Haifa, Tel Aviv and Beersheeva better get ready for the next conflict, which isn't that far away. You are delusional if you think you were victorious. You are also delusional if you think that this is the end of your problems. The only solution to your problems is through justice. All we ask for is: West Bank +Gaza+East Jerusalem+Return of the Refugees. It's not too much to ask for...It's either that, or you live in hell, just like we do!
36. Recognize Victory
Alex ,   USA   (01.18.09)
No sarcasm intended. This has been a brilliant operation. Hamas leadership fled for safety and left their citizens behind. Long term, this will likely weaken the hold Hamas has on the Gazans' loyalty. The Israeli reaction was quite properly disproportionate, which is the only strategy available against terrorism. The international community at least acknowledges the legitimacy of stopping arms smuggling into Gaza. The IDF is in position to resume operations whenever the rockets start up again. Perhaps most importantly, Israel did not commit to a single demand of Hamas, which is reduced to the typical Arab spin. The US politicians can say peace has been restored by a generous unilateral act by Israel after having received in advance a legitimate excuse to support any Israeli resumption of hostilities in response to even a single rocket. The only reasonable goal not achieved was rescuing Shalit. Do not let the best be the enemy of the good. This was a victory: be proud. Alex
37. palestinian
alan ,   toronto   (01.18.09)
whats wrong? dont like it when israel attacks. The arabs are great at threatening and provoking but when Israel attackes, you cry to the u.n. and media. It was never the intension to destroy Hamas. It was Israels intention to deal a harsh blow, stop the tunnels and stop the rockets into israel. MOst has been achieved. You might want to tell your brothers that they need to come out from behind women and children and fight like men - not cowards ! viva israel
38. IDF victory "the arabic way"
Hamahdal ,   here & there   (01.18.09)
can someone tell me what are the IDF achievements in 22 days? loud & clear?! and for God's sake don't spit out and chew again the famous sentence "that we sent a clear message to syria & iran" thus reminding me of the arab loosers of the 60s showing signs of victory along with famous speaches in front of the camera, what a shame!!
39. #37 all is fair in love & war
Hamahdal ,   here & there   (01.18.09)
therefore the last part of your comment is irrelevant. more, what do you mean by "most has been achieved"? it is an elastic sentence, hamas can reply by the same sentence as well that "most of their forces are still unharmed" who to believe?
