1. Pondering a response...from Jerusalem
William ,   Israel   (01.19.09)
Olmert: "I think we just need to give the Gazans and Hamas some time to calm down the rocket fire before it stops. Let's give them...oh, about 8 years...and if they don't stop, then we respond"
2. Livni will decide
Yanni   (01.19.09)
She is a military genius of the first order, as is Barak. The IDF does not have any decision-making authority here - they must obey Kadima, Israel's internal enemy.
3. Options have been severely limited
Gideon Reader   (01.19.09)
Sorry Guys.(IDF) The only proper response was the continued killing of the Bag Guys and breaking their will and their stuff until the capacity to make war was ALL gone. Not your fault, mind, but the end result is exactly the same. Rockets will fall until a PM with Big Brass ones, is sworn in.
4. The rockets on Israeli territory cannot be tolerated.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (01.19.09)
The principle of self-defensive pre-emptive strikes are legitimate, as are targeted killings. That applies to heads of states who support terror, as are any and all heads of terror organizations, including religious and/or political leaders. Unfortenately democratic countries have traditionally been unable to agree on a definition of terrorism, a fact that has hindered efforts to fight the phenomenon on an international level. This new kind of war is explained at : http://xrl.us/bebh94
5. HAMAS SAID THEY WON, WELL LETS GO AT IT, LET THEM WIN AGAIN

6. Then why are they declaring a victory already?
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (01.19.09)
We all know that this will erupt again in a few days, and unless Israel hits hard for each and every missile - not just a love tap- this will have accomplished nothing. Hamas is unhurt and sitting in Syria looking to cash in on all of this publicity as the underdog, and the promises of cash that they can use to buy more weapons. To make this real success for Israel 3 things need to happen: 1. We need to bring our solider home as part of the deal 2. All money for Gaza needs to go via the PA with a fully transparent process to see where the money goes - better yet the aid should be in materials not cash. 3. Someone needs to take responsibility to prevent more attacks - either with international troops in Gaza (with a mandate to shoot to kill if Hamas tries anything) or in Egypt (with mandate to shoot to kill if smuggling starts again). Anything less will really be a Hamas victory.
7. Declaring victory in Gaza
Peace ,   Baguio City   (01.19.09)
Yes, let them win again as if war is that Hamas is happy about, never mind the stench. Is provocation and keeping on provoking war better than seeking genuine cooperation and brotherhood? Among Islams, it seems only Islams are the only people in the planet. All others must be pushed to oblivion.
8. welcome BIBI
LARRY ,   USA   (01.19.09)
you just won the election now do what they will not .because the present leadership has the getto mentality {matbe if we dont cause trouble they will leave us alone] AND SOMEONE WILL SAVE US. UNLEASH THE MIGHTY IDF TO FINSH THE JOB
