1. Aric is a sex symbol and a good singer but not his ideas
Yaakov Sullivan ,   NYC   (01.23.09)
My husband carries Hamas flag in his pocket in America and can pray in the middle of Manhatten on his knees. This is democracy not israel's . Yesterday I prayed to Allah on a subway on a Palestinian flag and people respect that. I hope Allah will give you wisdom and understanding.
2. Excellent article TY.
Yisraeli   (01.23.09)
After just reading the other article on the front page with our 2 arab diplomats one a Druze the other a Bedoiun, your article makes the point so succint. Its so true what you say about allowing the radicals a voice even those calling for our destruction whilst being granted citizenship. You right the High Court only gives them fuel and in the end it will not be us that will pay for it but them and I feel sorry for the good ones as they will all be thrown out in one large heap yet I have no hate towards arabs, as I have posted in that other article:- As a Jew and an extreme rightist as myself (Feiglin-Kahanist) I say to these guys Kol Hakavod and I would be honered to shake your hands. If only we could sift through the loyal arabs in our midst from those that hate and seek to destroy Israel. I would gladly live together in peace with loyal arabs to our country, pity they are so few and hard to tell who is genuine. But a Ger Toshav Tzedek is always welcomed to live in Israel as they tie their destiny with ours. And ignore those ugly assimilated liberal Jews in the USA they no longer belong to our people and have sold themselves out to materialism and many are not loyal to Israel and in fact very ignorant of the real truth of what goes on in Israel. They are western media fed and have never had to live with the metziut. So Kol Hakavod again be strong and please remain loyal and for that we honour and respect you.
3. #1 Stupid comment. Fooled yourself.
Nudnik   (01.23.09)
Your activities are being conducted within the USA and don't signify anything that would harm that country. It is NOT at war with Hamas or Hezbollah. In Israel your activities may also be tolerated too...but you would definitely be a "person of interest" to the Mossad...as you would for ANY security force within ANY country where you held radical opposing views - in the face of the State's interests.

i understand that you stay on your knees but it is very puzzling that your husband stays on his knees.
5. Homosexuality is punishible by death in Islam

Hamas would stone you to death you sicko. You can't be muslim and gay at the same time.
6. MAKE ALL ARABS SERVE IN IDF!!

or renounce their citizenship.
7. Nope, we'll pay for the right wing's mistakes
JPS ,   Efrat   (01.23.09)
Sure, Arik, democracy should be a limited quantity, restricted only to those you think should get it. According to you, minorities should be denied civil rights unless they conform to the majority. And that would make us what? Oh right, a fascist republic where nobody is allowed to express opposition or they are stripped of their citizenship? The cowards of the extreme right are so scared of the Arab minority that they are peeing in their pants. The Arabs are 20% of this country, and they are so divided that they will never achieve the 24 seats in the Knesset they could have if they were united. So why is Lieberman and crowd running scared? Why are they trying to pull the wool over our eyes and make us believe this silly issue is the number 1 election beacon? Arik Sinai would contribute to Yisrael Beitenu's success if he'd stick to the real issues that confront us: no water, lack of jobs, Palestinian terrorism, rising family violence, international trade, our poisoned environment, the weakening health system, the lousy education system.....etc etc etc ad nauseam. But this is the issue they come up with and waster our time over?

You make me sick!!!!
9. If we can live with Meretz why not Balad
Ilan ,   Ariel   (01.23.09)
First, it was not a mistake of the court. The High Court consistently acts to support those who agree with it's politics. Secondly, the positions of Balad and Meretz are so similar that you'd have to use tweezers and a microscope to separate them. Both want a secular state, hate the religious and want to destroy the settlers and their homes. Both want a socialist state here. It is racism on the Arabs part that made them form an Arab party and it is racism to want to disqualify them only on that basis.

when do you think i can carry an american or israeli flag in the middle of the west bank or gaza without any weapon and ill still be alive ?
11. #1: Arik may be a sex symbol, but you are an idiot
David Hartman ,   Raleigh, NC   (01.23.09)
What relevance do your vapid ramblings have to this story? It makes me sick as an American that we allow people like you and your husband to express their moronic hypocritic views while enjoying the very freedom that allows for it. True "Americans" consider that the ultimate slap in the face & I certainly have no respect or tolerance for it. You, allah, & your palestinian husband would make most of us much happier if you were back in gaza with your 'brothers & sisters", or whatever cesspool you crawled out of.
12. Arik Arik Arik!

13. Time To Deal With Traitors With A Heavy Fist
Adina Kutnicki ,   Israel,new olah   (01.23.09)
It is unfathomable that a nation which is surrounded on all sides by external enemies tolerates the radical threat from within. The rabid left leadership aids and abets the treachery from within, some hoping to tame the Islamic beast, while some among them truly want the Jewish state to be destroyed. I think most in the nation understand now about the emerging Arab threat inside our borders. Times are a changing..
14. Well Said!!!!
hhh ,   israel   (01.23.09)
15. I hate to say it, but I supported the court's decision
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (01.23.09)
Not because I have any sort of support or sympathy for these treacherous Arab demagogues like Tibi or Barakeh, but for an entirely different reason. After the Gaza war, the world perceives us quite negatively. The fact that the world is antisemitic, a total hypocrite, and completely biased against us, is besides the point. If enough people yell out that the IDF is a child-killer, then eventually this libel would catch, just like people believed the Jews were baking matzos from Chritian children's blood. Therefore, we are currently in a position where we cannot afford to draw more negative attention from the world, as this would only add more fuel to the fire, and give our many haters further excuses to isolate us. We should wait a while now, let Tibi & Co. have their day at the ballot, and in a year or two, after they make enough incitements and visits to Syria - indict them for treason and sedition, as we should have done long ago. But not now, times are too sensitive.
16. to #1 - Hamas does not attack the US
LP ,   Paris, France   (01.23.09)
it attacks Israel. No wonder that the Hamas flag does not generate that much fillings down there. Before giving Israelis lectures on true democracy, try for a change to chat "Long live Al-Qaida" in streets of NY and see if americans will appreciate this.
17. Loyaltiy ought to be rewarded not sedition!
Josef L Klein ,   ottawa, canada   (01.23.09)
Well said Arik!
18. to #15
Sammy ,   Tel Aviv   (01.23.09)
Times will never be less sensitive. It doesn't matter what we say or do, they will never hate us less and there is no way they can hate us more. What do you mean "believed" Jews made matzos from the blood of Christian children? What makes you think they don't still believe it? NO RAM-TAL IN THE GOVERNMENT! They are traitors, a fifth-column, they want to destroy us from within, and so, apparently, does the court.
19. #11 "true american"?!
Rudi ,   NC USA   (01.23.09)
I did not know there were reservations in Raleigh. "True Americans", what a joke!
20. so, let me get this straight.
Rudi ,   NC USA   (01.23.09)
One should be so grateful to be living in a "democratic" country, that he/she should not practice his/her right for democracy. Cool!
21. RE 15
LARRY ,   USA   (01.23.09)
you can stand on your head and do underwater dances the world will still hate jews .get this apeasment complex out of your head its been done before for many many generations .the final result can be read about in ww2 history. ISRAEL DO WHAT YOU MUST DO. SURVIVAL IS NOT THE GOAL WIN///THE WORLD RESPECTS THAT MORE
22. The Israeli Arabs are “Palestinians”.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (01.23.09)
The Arab minority in Israel, which amount to over one million souls ( 20% of the total population) has been undergoing a process of islamization and “Palestinization” in the past few years which has brought it much closer to Fatah and Hamas positions in their conflict with Israel. The leadership of the arabs in Israel has submitted a list of demands that if adopted, would put an end to the Jewish nature of the state. More about the enemy within at : http://xrl.us/bi3hx
23. Intolerance and Yaakov Sullivan bashing
Yaakov Sullivan ,   NYC   (01.23.09)
I am very disappointed to read all your hateful comments. As youi know I am a peaceful Muslim gay American. Yes I had recently converted to Islam from Catholic Judaism and in fact am very happy about my belief in Allah. Frankly it was a practical decision because both my husband and my boyfriend are Muslims. This israel operation in Gaza was the last straw to convince me I was right.I still respect Christianity and Judaism but I don;t believe in their gods. Is it a crime? Of coarse not. I wish you all well and Allah will help you, inshallah. Peace.
24. High Court a disgrace
Shimon ,   UK   (01.23.09)
High Court is what they want everyone to beleive. Not even a low court would pass such litigation to the enmy. If this is a court then they should be ashamed of themselves. Why don't they sometimes judge the Israelis favourably. They are not interested in protecting the people of Israel. All they think to do is to satisfy anyone who is pro Israeli and pro frum. As as it is against the Holy Torah's way then they stand in liason to counteract the law of the Torah. Why ? Good question, Answer. They are opposed to think and award the people there due respect...............I would say. Court's you don't exsist and should not be recognised until their way of life is respected and to uphold the Torah law which the only one that matters.,
25. #1 so long as the working sane majority pays taxes and
r.f.   (01.23.09)
doesn't live under shadows of incitement to discredit their rights to defend themselves by 20% of the population, there is room for people like you.
26. THE LEFT-WING ELITE WILL SOON BE KILLED AND BOMBED
THE REVOLUTION IS ,   COMING!!!!!!!!!!!   (01.23.09)
AND MURDERED IN THE STREET FOR GOING AGAINST THE CITIZENS OF ISRAEL! THOSE ELITISTS WHO THINK THAT THEY CAN DO WHAT EVER THEY WANT AGAINST THE MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE WILL HAVE A RUDE AWAKENING! ALL ARABS WILL BE TRANSFERRED OUT OF ISRAEL AND ALL LEFT-WING TRAITORS WILL BE HUNG IN RABIN SQUARE! DEMOCRACY=MAJORITY RULES!
27. great or scary?
Gilad ,   London UK   (01.23.09)
I began reading this article in automatic agreement about the need to address head on the utter not just disloyalty, but outright hatred against Israel by some within. But by the end of the article I expected to support I was horrified. The description here sounds more like fascism than the natural loyalty one should have for his nation. What is the test? Are Meretz supporters, many of whom are kibbutzniks who've served in the IDF who may hold a different view on the solutions to the conflict (for example) loyal enough? Not loyal enough? What about Mitzna? He served in the army for decades (before most of Israel Beytainyus team even moved to Israel), but said he'll talk to Hamas? Is that less loyal? Or Ami Ayalon, who was head of the Shabak who said the same? Are they traitors? People who've done more for Israel's safety then Liberman ever did? I'm not saying this policy would put them on the same boat as the outright traitors, but this policy sounded very open-ended. We had extremely loyal citizens before when there was no such policy. We can have it again if we build strong foundations, not just run loyalty tests. Until I see the specifics of any such plan, it seems dangerous and open to manipulation by whoever is ruling. The thin line between a good idea to promote unity and a bad idea that labels loyal people disloyal must declared very clearly by Israel Beiteinu before it should be supported.
28. #1 WHAT I MEANT TO SAY WAS THERE IS ALLWAYS ROOM FOR PEOPLE
R.F.   (01.23.09)
LIKE YOU, BUT YOU CAN NOT TRANSFER THE SAME REACTION FOR THE HAMAS FLAG FROM NYC TO ISRAEL ISRAEL IS VERY SMALL, THE WAR IS IN EVERYONE'S BACK YARD I AM HAPPY FOR YOU POPULATION IN NYC ARE NOT BEING REMINDED DAILY THEY ARE SURROUNDED BY ENEMIES I AM HAPPY FOR YOU THAT ARAB POPULATION IN NYC DOES NOT QUESTION THE RIGHT OF AMERICANS TO LIVE IN NYC I AM HAPPY FOR YOU THAT ARAB POPULATION IN NYC ARE NOT SUGGESTING AMERICANS HAVE NO RIGHT TO DEFEND THEMSELVES ALL THESE THINGS ARAB PEOPLE DON'T DO IN NYC, HELP YOU MAINTAIN A RELATIVELY GOOD LIFE THERE AND ENJOY AMERICAN DEMOCRACY I WISH YOU HAPPINESS AND HOPE YOU SHALL MAKE GOOD CHOICES WHICHEVER WAY YOU TURN .
29. I didn't know loyalty could be quantifiably measured
Smith ,   Tel-Aviv, Israel   (01.23.09)
30. Hasbeens
David ,   Haifa   (01.23.09)
Why is it that never ever was there a really good Israeli artist with rightwing extremist views? The only 'stars' that politicians like Baruch Marzel and Yvette Lieberman are able to attract are hasbeens or never-really-have-beens like Sinai and what-is-his-name, the one with the trumpet and the funny song about the Hevra LeHaganat Hateva. A few extremist would-be artists can also be found in extreme leftwing and anti-Zionist circles. Most if not all artists with real talent who speak out politically are to be found on the Left.
