61. B Michael, I love you
Rowan Berkeley ,   London, England   (01.24.09)
Thank the almighty for the presence of even one person in the op-ed columns of eretz israel who still preserves a genuine sense of the grotesque.
62. Israel's true objective.
Stefano ,   London England   (01.24.09)
Israel doesn’t want a Palestinian state alongside it. It is willing to prove this with hundreds of dead and thousands of disabled, in a single ‘operation’. The message is always the same: leave or remain in subjugation, under our military dictatorship. We are a democracy. We have decided democratically that you will live like dogs
63. What a load of crap.
Tahl ,   Israel   (01.24.09)
I actually wrote an entire post thoroughly refuting each and every one of B. Michael's completely stupid and baseless arguments. Then I realized he is not worth the effort. Hopeless, defeatist, self-battering leftists like him, always find a way to interpret the facts according to their own twisted perception. Thank goodness, B. Michael represnts a tiny fraction of lunatics in Israel. Even the majority of Meretz voters (a party which would hardly score more than 4-5 seats in the upcoming elections) aren't that clueless.
64. #39 bravo
(01.24.09)
65. #44 this clever & honest man would have been killed by syria
(01.24.09)
if the idf weren't there to protect him
66. #39 he's not an author, he didn't write books, he's a
r.f.   (01.24.09)
publicist, he writes a column in the newspaper, and he's satire writer for the TV. he went through a lawsuit against a newspaper that said he is using nazi propaganda against settlers, and he's a brother of a former mk. this guy is making money from feeling moral superiority over the people that risk their lives to protect him, such as the idf he is saying suicide terrorists are just melancholic people, who's melancholy has driven them into terrorism not through their fault, but because of their life circumstances. it is as if terrorists had no other choice but to become terrorists, and therefore we should pitty them. it is beyond my reasoning, why should a newspaper publish this BS when people who suffered from terrorism can actualy read his stupid psychological analysis in the paper.
67. The IDF chose the right war.
Keith ,   USA   (01.24.09)
"In Gaza it was almost not fired at, and it immediately “won.” Therefore, the only learned conclusion we can draw from the Gaza events for the time being is that it is much easier to win without an enemy." Indeed, that is the Art of War. Indeed, the lessons were learned.
68. Good Article
Mohammad ,   Jordan   (01.24.09)
All liberals and peace lovers are under attack these days, whether Israelies or Arabs. Nowadays, whoever say the truth, being logical and independent, escape the brain wash, understands the consequences of war and hatred, and call for peace will be crticized and called a traitor. In war time, truth is always the first casualty.
69. Jewish self-haters are the allies of Arabs.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (01.24.09)
A part of the Israeli intelligentsia, left oriented, is no longer confident of the nation’s right to its own Jewish identity. This has created a dangerous vacuum. In Israeli universities, revisionist historians have told corrosive lies about their country’s history, portraying it as having been born in sin. In the schools, children have not been taught Jewish history and parrot Arab disinformation instead. Israeli left oriented intellectuals would rather self-flagellate their public and “admit” sins they never committed, and furnish intellectual rationalizations for the most convoluted arguments raised by their adversaries, rather than take up their country’s defense even when its conduct is beyond reproach as explained at : http://xrl.us/bi5da
70. To #59
leo ,   USA   (01.24.09)
B. Michael is expressing an opinion. Why Joe the Plumber is not allowed? "Everybody absolutely love Joe the plumber as a reporter from Gaza even he doesn't have a license to be a plumber " And apparently B. Michael does have.
71. To fake Yaakov Sullivan, shame on you, brother
Yaakov Sullivan ,   NYC   (01.24.09)
As a true Yaakov Sullivan I want to protest your post. As a good citizen of this great nation I have every right to my opinion. I repeat; Every person in this counrty has the right to voice his/ or her opinion, even a cook in reserves. As I said Joe the plumber talks about economy and otheer important subjects to Obama and other generals. Why wouldn't you look into B.Michael arguments? The man is respected writer, pacifist and a celebrated cook (res) in the IDF. May be he is not familiar with military tactics and strategies but he has the right to post here. Think about it, ever Arik Sinai who is a singer writes here. Why not a cook? In fact I respect a cook much more then a singer. I can live for a month without listening to music. but I will be hungry without food for more then 6 hours. So who is more influential? Cook-writer . singer or plumber like Joe? Think about it. End of argument. As I say always I always outargue my husband and my boyfriend.
72. @61 Rowan I love him too but he need to lose 20 lb
Yaakov Sullivan ,   NYC   (01.24.09)
Rowan I agree with you. It is wonderful that you feel the same way as I. As you know every man needs to lose a little weight and even me ( according to my husband) but otherwice I agree with you totally.
73. #63 Tahl the only proper answer for you majesty
Yaakov Sullivan ,   NYC   (01.24.09)
As a proud Moslim American ( former Catholic) gay I am outraged. We don't need those " apologists like Tahl. We in our community had a wonderful party with nude salsa dancing and collected $18000 for our community in Gaza. My husband is from Gaza and we also adopted 2 boys from a refugee camp. We hope to help Gaza as much as we can.Instead of useless post why don't you collect money for Palestinians? Why don't you donate a louzy shekel for our brothers?
74. TB- international
Miriam ,   Canada   (01.24.09)
interesting- almost all the comments come from people NOT living in Israel- how do you guys KNOW how it is? what is happening? from the press? from censured releases? War is cruel, civilians always loose. This was a cruel war no doubt- so don't try to deny it- and as for results- time will tell- soon. The only people qualified to comment are the resident Israelis- international 'experts' maybe should calm down a bit, LOL.
75. gaza war
steve ,   london ,uk   (01.24.09)
we went in,we did it the job,and we got out ,thats the way to do it.and we,ll do it again and again and again till they learn the leson ,DONT TRY IT WITH THE IDF ,,,,,,,,,
76. B. Michael
Rosie ,   Israel   (01.24.09)
Didn't Hamas brag before the operation Cast Lead that Gaza would be turned into graveyard for Israeli soldiers? That they were ready to defeat the IDF? So where was the resistance of your "glorious and moral" Hamas, if "the IDF was not fired at"? Do you know WHY our troops were not fired at? I'll tell you. It's because it was much more dangerous for Hamas than firing rockets at kindergarten in Ashkelon from within school building in Gaza.
77. Israeli Jewish 5th column
24/01/09   (01.24.09)
With jews like B. Michael, do we need Hamas or Hizballa?
78. #10
Gloriya ,   Israel   (01.24.09)
Agree with every word
79. Too high a price for democracy
Gloriya ,   Israel   (01.24.09)
Democracy must not be turned to a "sacred cow". A nation whose very existence is jeopardized by enemies from within MUST sacrifice democracy for life, and not life for democracy.
80. to b mitchel
b.j ,   jerusalem   (01.24.09)
yes you tell it it is offensive and god will forgive any one to do or tell or just put it in his heart that killing civilians is haram . you have the forgivness from heaven to me yes it is haram to kill civilians i can not do it or tell it or agree in killing children and i hope that god will forgive me for any sins may i do it without i know or mean but no one oblige any one to do such think
81. B. Michael
Rosie ,   Israel   (01.24.09)
There is one thing I would ve-e-e-ry much like to see: you living in Gaza and writing an article like this about Hanas.
82. #14
Rosie ,   Israel   (01.24.09)

86. 48
Gloriya ,   Israel   (01.24.09)
Not in Sderot, in Gaza.
87. # 41 HOW DARE YOU ?
Lawrence ,   Safed Israel   (01.24.09)
The only error Israel made regarding Gaza was to allow Israeli citizens to be bombarded with rockets from Gaza with impunity ....without reaction for years.I invite you to sit in Sderot for a few weeks, you will soon change your tune, until such time shut the hell up.
88. #41 The Israeli Error
Lawrence ,   Safed Israel   (01.24.09)
Was not wiping out Gaza long ago.
89. #41
the idf man ,   london uk   (01.24.09)
u r a plonker,go back and get all the facts right!! and dont thalk soft like a parrot
90. To "41"
Hansje   (01.24.09)
I would like to know how you would end the constant barrage of rockets on your town without responding? You speak of an "error" of the Israeli's... so give us the solution. Maybe we'll understand better the European mind of getting slaughtered without resisting.
