Israelis are bombarded with anti Jewish sentiments all the time from the Arab world, you only have to watch one of Hamas clerical speeches (al a yehud...) or a recent (26th Jan09) speech by Egyptian cleric Amin Al-Ansari saying of the holocaust (with explicit documentary footage of the holocaust showing, saying -“This is what we hope will happen but, Allah willing, at the hands of the Muslims.”. The sermons on the Templ Mount (download online) are rife with it do. This does not justify racism of the soldiers but their anger at that point is understandable, it is war. it however must be looked at in it's time frame. It is not institutionalized (which it is in some countries) but a product of war. Israel is far more liberal and would never allow the likes of the Egyptian cleric speeches on television which are so pervasive there, to air. They have the odd comment but it is not reflective of the larger society at large.

After reading the blog of an IDF soldier in Gaza I fear that these accusations might prove true. However, I personally feel this is a minor offense that could have been avoided if the IDF had provided better communication to their soldiers about the cons of doing such actions and explain more fully why this is against all that Israel stands for. Too, since several of the soldiers in the IDF actualy were born in the USA and grew up speaking English as their primary langauge I can see them using their primary language first prior to Hebrew or Arabic. One thing I have learned for certain reading the blog of this one IDF soldier in Gaza was that G-d certainly was with Israel in this war because ethics was not the only area where the IDF could improve their training and communications. I'll keep praying and hope that the IDF does some further training and better communicating as well.

I think the one who started the war was IDF not HAMAS. Actually, I didn't see hamas in Tel Aviv but I saw the IDF soldiers entering Gaza and shooting Gazian in the UN schools. I didn't hear that Hamas was closing the Israel Gates. What do IDF think ? Does it think that when it enters Gaza , it will find HAMAS fighters in the front or normal just normal people ?!!!. I know HAMAS are using rockets which have range of mostly 50 km; but on the other hand, IDF using F-16 and Tanks and Hi-tech weapons and white phosphorus. Moreover, those 1300 people are like the Israel civilians. "all humans are same". killing around 8 israel from HAMAS rockets doesn't mean that 1300 Gazian should be killed. By the way I am not defending HAMAS but I am defending those civilians who have been killed. I wish people think about those 1300 and don't put blames on others

As an English teacher and knowing my students well, I wish that at least one of them would have such neat and tidy writing and perfect spelling. Why would IDF soldiers write such graffiti and in English? Did they not have enough danger and stress to keep them busy? Also does the army supply each member with a can of spray paint? Have looked at this nonsense It sure looks written and certainly not sprayed. I guess Hamas employed and UN English speaker to help with this advertising.
